Pillar of Yita

Leading the Patrol Cavalry, as Fang Hong described, were indeed the Dark Knights from the Shadow Throne, draped in black and red battle robes. They had already seen the gray-clad people’s formation in the square and realized the defenses were not yet set, causing them to be overjoyed.

”The flanking tactic worked!”

”They haven’t spotted us!”

”Cut the chatter, prepare to attack!” shouted the lead knight, leveling his lance to prepare for a charge.

Unlike the City Defense Force’s Light Cavalry, the Invokers were genuine Heavy Cavalry, and wall-style charges were one of the classic cavalry tactics brought by Earthlings over the past half-century.

Just as the warhorses began to accelerate, suddenly, a cracking sound echoed, and an Ice Wall rose straight up from the long street. The Dark Knights only then noticed that behind the gray-clad people stood row upon row of Elementalists and Magic Guided Conductors.

It was already too late for shock; the Heavy Cavalry couldn’t stop on the snowy ground and ended up crashing into the wall.

The Ice Wall shattered with a great noise, the temporary spell crumbling, yet the first two rows of Dark Knights that hit the Ice Wall turned into streaks of white light.

The ones behind were battered and bruised, but before they could catch their breath, the Patrol Cavalry of the City Defense Force crashed into them, resulting in another chorus of screams. The momentum of the cavalry charge was utterly lost—

Seizing the opportunity, the gray-clad side finally arranged their formation, having the Iron Guard set up a row of spears in front to block the City Defense Force cavalry.

From afar, Ye Hua observed this scene, then turned to Fang Hong and said, ”Thanks, you helped me a lot this time, little one.”

If the thanks came from one of the only two Ten Kings in the country, Fang Hong would usually be overjoyed. Yet now, he merely furrowed his brows and silently adjusted the position of each of his Clockwork Fairies.

He seemed to be searching through the Vision of the Clockwork Fairies for something in the vast night sky.

Though they had only interacted for a moment, Ye Hua discerned the youth’s disposition and realized something was amiss when he fell silent, so he asked, ”What’s wrong?”

Fang Hong shook his head.

If the opponent could flank the gray-clad people, they surely had means to observe the battle situation.

The scouting methods on the battlefield were limited to Insight and Magical Eye of Magic Guided Conductors and Elementalists, Observers and Scouts, or the Flexible Constructs of the Combat Artisans.

However, due to the Ether disturbance, spells from Magic Guided Conductors and Elementalists were nearly impossible to cast on the battlefield, and close-range Observers and Scouts couldn’t escape the perception of the nearby Ranger King.

The only reliable method left was the Clockwork Fairies.

But that was precisely what puzzled him—the existence of Clockwork Fairies that could elude his notice. Where on Earth was the opponent hiding?

Little did he know, as the Dark Knights crashed into the Ice Wall, in a room miles away, a group of Invokers dressed in Alchemists’ Coats sighed quietly.

The attire of these Alchemists was somewhat peculiar; besides the usual coat and shawl, each wore a sash with strange symbols engraved on it, resembling silver crosses.

If anyone were present to see this sash, they would be astounded.

In the Second World, this sash was known by a thunderous name—the Champion Ribbon.

It was the insignia of the champions in the Stargate League, the most prestigious of the three major Second World leagues. Only members of the guild that triumphed in the league’s finals had the right to wear this sash.

The number of crosses indicated how many times the guild had won in history.

Only two guilds in history had over three silver crosses besides Silver Weslan’s legendary five-time champions: Silver Weslan’s old rival, the Rose Cross Army, and the legendary guild, Ragnarok, Twilight of the Gods, which had produced three Ten Kings over time.

Emerging powerhouse guilds like Elite were making waves domestically, yet they lacked such historical depth.

”So, the others also have Clockwork Fairies—”

”But we can’t find where their Clockwork Fairies are at all.”

”They may have already detected us...”

”The Alchemist Alliance is hard to deal with.”

The Alchemists exchanged glances.

Though they weren’t the elite of any corps, as members of a major First World guild, they held top-tier status in Eteliria. Nonetheless, battling the Native Combat Artisans left them a bit uncertain.

The Natives’ growth period was far longer compared to Invokers; during the apprentice stage, Invokers—especially those with exceptional talent—quickly outpaced the Natives. But Starlight was fair; everything gained through the Summoners System would eventually return to this world, and Invokers’ lifespans in Eteliria were not lengthy.

Compared to truly seasoned Natives, Invokers held little advantage.

Even with the advantage of numbers, the top combat forces of the Natives, in terms of quantity, far exceeded the Invokers; in quality, Invokers were only on par at most.

After all, not every Earthling could come to this world after the Stargate.
