Pillar of Yita

”So it’s just a hypothesis; I’m not denying the possibility that it could be Verdant, but regardless, what we’re facing is not simple,” Fang Hong couldn’t help but smirk at himself, bitterly saying, ”Why do we, mere characters under level 15, have to deal with such matters?”

Sophie also started to laugh, ”It’s you, not me, thanks to your care, I’m now out of the picture.”

Fang Hong felt a bit embarrassed upon hearing this and touched his nose.

He quietly defended, ”But your Companion Star Knight is still here, isn’t she, Miss Xi?” Fang Hong naturally noticed that their relationship was extraordinary, with Xi protecting the other in every aspect, while Sophie, when dealing with these private affairs, also chose Xi first rather than anyone else.

In the team from Silver Weslan, there wasn’t just one female mountain dweller.

Xi gave him a stern look upon hearing his words.

”You stay away from Xi, she’s mine,” Sophie pretended to be fierce, ”Of course, you have to protect her well, after all, it’s your fault I’m separated from my Companion Star Knight. If anything happens to her...”

Fang Hong was speechless, wondering how he was supposed to both stay away and still protect the other party well, thinking to himself that indeed, women were creatures beyond reason.

But Sophie was just joking. She got back to the matter at hand, saying, ”Didn’t Toragotos mention it? By using the Goddess’ power, to suppress the resurgence of the Dark Force, it didn’t ask you to challenge a deity alone.”

”But isn’t that strange, if so, why would it agree to your request?” Fang Hong countered, ”How strong Silver Weslan is, the old dragon must be well aware of that, isn’t it more reliable to let you have the slot for Milaila’s strength than others?”

Sophie was also taken aback, as she hadn’t considered this question before. She hesitated, ”Maybe because it knows our goal is the Spire; have you forgotten the special task it gave you? Finding the Spire means that there might be deeper secrets related to the Sealing on it, which is more important than carrying the ’Goddess’ energy’ to the underground.”

Fang Hong nodded, agreeing with her theory.

”I’m not questioning Toragotos, its affection for Colin Ishurian is there for all to see, but what worries me is something else,” Fang Hong replied, ”I don’t know if the old dragon has ever considered the possibility of a traitor. Suppose the Jiefulite Red Cloak Team and the Night Lizard People conspire to sabotage that Sealing, then the problem below gets a lot more serious.”

Sophie frowned, ”Ade, I know you hate the Red Cloak Team, but I don’t think they’re that short-sighted. The BBK Alliance behind the Red Cloak Team is about to become one of the top ten clubs, they have no reason to do something that would sabotage the ’Stargate Declaration’ at this time.”

If Fang Hong hadn’t witnessed it himself, he would naturally not believe it, but he told Sophie every detail about how the Blood Oath Alliance had summoned the Dragon’s Servant.

After listening, the girl also furrowed her brows deeply, ”That shouldn’t be!”

”I know it shouldn’t be, but the facts are such, and moreover, the incidents involving the Dragonfire Guild and the Rain Listener are a cautionary tale,” Fang Hong answered, ”I’m not being deliberately provocative, but as allies now, I feel compelled to mention, if we face the worst-case scenario, what contingency plan should we have?”

Sophie looked at him, nodding in acknowledgment, ”You make sense, so before that, have you encountered any Night Lizard People?”

Fang Hong thought for a moment and shook his head.

”The Night Lizard People are the masters of the Green Dragon Mountain Range underground. They can easily enter these ruins from below, but out of respect for the face of Toragotos, they usually wouldn’t easily step foot in this place. But if the Jiefulite Red Cloak Team wants to turn the table with them, then we will definitely encounter the Night Lizard People in the lower levels.”

”Are you suggesting we first prepare for the possible appearance of the underground Lizard Clan?”

Sophie nodded lightly, she looked around, and then spoke, ”It’s getting late, the information you provided is very important, Ade. I’ll go discuss this with the others. If you want to continue looking at these murals, I can ask Xi to stay with you.”

”That won’t be necessary,” Fang Hong shook his head. There were only so many murals here; he had seen almost all that needed to be seen, and the gains were substantial, but for the upcoming adventure deeper underground, that was as much help as he could get.

So Sophie said goodbye to him with Xi and then left the place.

Watching their retreating figures, Fang Hong felt a bit sentimental. He always felt that he and Miss Sophie were especially in sync, no matter what issues they pondered, she could easily align her thoughts with his, as if they had been partners for many years.

This feeling was somewhat wonderful—

And it was at that moment, the voice of Miss Tata suddenly echoed in his mind, ”I want to learn Xinsas language, Mr. Knight?”

Fang Hong was startled. He then remembered that Miss Fairy had always been quite interested in the ancient Knowledge of the Ancient Tower Xinsas. She had been silent up until now, and he had been wondering why she hadn’t said anything, but here she was, finally speaking up.

He was somewhat surprised by Miss Tata’s request, ”Miss Tata, you don’t know the Xinsas ancient language, either.”

Miss Fairy showed herself, sitting on his shoulder, and gently shook her head, ”No, because there has been a generational gap in knowledge between Xinsas and Numelin. Throughout Eteliria, there aren’t many people who know this language.”

She looked up at her Knight, ”Mr. Knight, can you help me?”

Considering how Miss Tata had helped him so much, offering him unprecedented hope, how could Fang Hong bear to say no—although it might be a bit troublesome. After all, it was Sophie’s secret skill, not something she’d lightly teach to others.

But he thought there would always be an opportunity. From the matter of the Pale Flame, he could see that she wasn’t a person without desires.

Thus, he silently nodded.
