Pillar of Yita

Silver Weslan had also represented the China Competition Region in that massive joint combat, so that even today, many elders in the guild enthusiastically recount the battle.

”No one could truly kill that ancient king in the moments when winter approached, in the depths of the Cold Forest. Despite defeating it time after time, every full moon night, under the long call of the horn, the Undead army would resurrect, stronger after each occurrence, until even the tri-nation union had to retreat temporarily outside the Cold Forest...”

”It was quite the hunt, everyone was at their wits’ end, the Ancient Tower People suffered the greatest losses, and we weren’t faring much better; but once the harsh winter passed, the undead vanished, the next winter, only a few saw its trace in the Cold Forest...”

”After that, the Ancient Tower People quieted down a lot, at least no one dared to enter the Cold Forest in winter with much fanfare anymore.”

The elders described the battle briefly, but Sophie could imagine the grandeur of that day, three national competition regions, eleven guilds, most of which were the cream of the crop at the time, including the Golden Era’s China Competition Region.

Yet they still had no way with this ancient monarch.

What kind of imposing presence was that?

It and its crows, a skeleton, riding atop a mount named ”Ghost Fire,” concealed under that famous black cloak, just a distant glimpse in the forest was enough to paralyze eleven guilds, thousands of Chosen.

But Sophie had never imagined that one day she would personally face this respectable opponent, though only as a phantom. But she was aware of Toragotos’s capabilities, this old dragon, through a shadow from the past, could replicate a fraction of its original essence—

This ancient monarch might not be as despairing as in the battle of the Cold Forest, but it was still the number one formidable enemy here.

She remembered her previous experience, well aware of how terrifying the opponent on the sixth layer was.

Last time, they encountered a Faceless Swordsman here, and almost faced annihilation, barely managing to make it to the seventh layer by a stroke of luck, and that opponent compared to this ancient king, was just an ordinary lord here.

Of course, this time, whether it was her or her teammates, all were much stronger than before, which was where everyone’s confidence stemmed from.

”Want to try another one?” someone suggested.

They all knew what kind of existence the enemy was; Silver Weslan symbolized bravery, but it wasn’t necessarily about blindly charging at an iron wall.

”Level Six is too big, looking for another would waste so much time, continuing like this, we’d lose our lead to Jiefulite’s people.” Sophie shook her head, disagreeing.

The others looked at her speechlessly, wondering where she got the idea of having a leading advantage, this miss was really self-delusional.

But what she said was also true, they originally had no advantage, falling behind any further, what would happen if an obscure guild like Jiefulite Red Cloak Team got ahead and reached the thirteenth layer first?

So, everyone tacitly accepted this choice.

Seeing others a bit nervous, Sophie smiled gently, ”At least we’re not the unluckiest, are we? We still have company, right?”

The knights chuckled softly, somewhat gleeful over others’ misfortune, they had followed news from Xi, chasing behind Fang Hong and his group, if they talked about bad luck, the others’ luck could only be worse.

”Having others to join hands with, we’ll have an easier time with this ancient king,” Sophie continued to say to the others, ”It’s invincible in the Cold Forest only because on the night of the full moon they resurrect to become stronger, but here, we just need to kill it once.”

People nodded.

”Still, I doubt those people can provide us with much help,” someone spoke up, ”They don’t even have a guild, just some Free Summoners, how capable can they be?”

Sophie thought the same, but recalling the scene she had witnessed in the hall, she was somewhat unsure; the reason she brought others along was to confirm this.

Were those people simply lucky to travel with Prince Tainaric, or did they actually have something special? But those chosen by Toragotos must likely have some special aspect?

She recalled the words of the Lizardmen elders, and the fleeting silver crown on Fang Hong’s forehead in the hall.

All these details deepened her suspicions.

”After all, these are people selected by Lord Toragotos,” but she didn’t say this aloud, merely reminded them, ”Moreover, their arrival here with us does say something.”

”Don’t forget, among Free Summoners there are also many outstanding talents, not all atop the highest ladder are guild summoners.”

Though everyone heard this, they were somewhat skeptical, thinking these people joining them here merely proved that everyone was an African compatriot— and current results proved just that.

But usually, there was some mutual sympathy among African compatriots, and for a moment these people’s impression of Fang Hong and his group improved somewhat.

Someone even cracked a joke, ”Ha, Princess, but didn’t you assure us last time with such certainty? I think we all remember how that turned out!”
