Pillar of Yita

”Actually, it’s just a self-destruct crystal, but it has a special design that prevents magic power backlash,” Fang Hong answered; ”It’s not very costly. The additional production cost mainly comes from the self-destruct crystal, which you can be assured of.”

Sophie then dropped her playful demeanor. Most people think the Grand Guild is financially robust, but few understand that the Grand Guild is extremely sensitive to costs, especially for consumables. In wars involving guilds of this scale, costs are calculated by the thousands; even a slight fluctuation in individual costs can total astronomical numbers in the end.

The fact that the other party specifically mentioned this indicates a considerable understanding of the Grand Guild’s operations. More importantly, his mention suggests he plans to offer design schematics rather than finished products, as costs wouldn’t be their concern if it were finished products.

If it’s design schematics, then she must take this trade seriously, as it isn’t on the same level as the previous individual transaction of ’Pale Flame.’

”Do you want to trade it for a variant Sword-Bearer?” Sophie thought for a moment and replied, ”Actually, Silver Weslan already has ready-made ones; what do you think of the ’Energy Angel’? However, if it’s the ’Energy Angel’, we can only give you the authorized design schematic.”

What Fang Hong actually wanted was the ’Energy Angel,’ which is exclusive to Silver Weslan’s Sword-Bearer, and Silver Weslan has precedence in authorizing others to produce it. He had known from the start that his proposal was very likely to succeed.

His ’Fire Giant’ form of Sword-Bearer meant far more to a guild like Silver Weslan than just an ’Energy Angel’, although the ’Energy Angel’ is also among the top three outstanding models among the variant Sword-Bearers.

He also thought for a moment, then answered: ”That’s acceptable, but correspondingly, I can only grant you the design schematic as well.”

The so-called authorized design schematic meant that production could be based on it, but no learning, development, or resale was allowed; moreover, the design schematic came with a use-limit, requiring another trade once exhausted.

Sophie looked at him intently, well aware that this was probably exactly what he wanted. He must have known that the design schematic of the ’Energy Angel’ couldn’t be resold or exchanged, making the authorization of the design schematic a logical step.

Fang Hong also felt somewhat guilty, not daring to meet her gaze, thinking that he was indeed too thin-skinned.

Of course, this was exactly his ploy. Although the Lonely White Field didn’t forbid him from reselling the design schematic when they gave it to him, it still didn’t seem right to trade what he received.

Moreover, for a Grand Guild like Silver Weslan, the ’Fire Giant’ Sword-Bearer was well enough, but what was truly terrifying was the ’Fire Giant’ Clockwork Fairy Type, and with an attitude of holding back from the Grand Guild, he didn’t plan to trade his trump card methods.

Since the other party could only produce according to the provided schematic and couldn’t develop further on it, not obtaining the ’Seal Ring Type Configuration’ means Silver Weslan would essentially be left with a semi-variant Sword-Bearer.

Additionally, there were some extra benefits, as the design schematic was use-limited, but he himself surely wouldn’t use a Sword-Bearer for a lifetime; thousands of uses would be more than enough for an individual but never enough for a guild, especially since the ’Fire Giant’ Sword-Bearer was clearly not just any variant to Silver Weslan.

Sophie certainly considered this, but she didn’t point it out—there were many options for a variant Sword-Bearer for the other party, but for Silver Weslan, the ’Fire Giant’ Sword-Bearer was the only one available. Since there was no choice, there was no need to say it and spoil the relations.

She spoke up: ”If that’s the case, we can complete this transaction now. I can authorize the ’Energy Angel’ schematic, five thousand uses, which is the highest authority I can grant immediately.”

Five thousand usages made Fang Hong gasp; although he knew that amount was insignificant for a Grand Guild, it still far surpassed his expectations. He thought for a moment and didn’t have the guts to mention his own five hundred uses, as that might truly upset Her Highness of Silver Weslan in front of him.

She also didn’t seem that easy to deceive.

But he was hesitant; what he really wanted were one or two ready-to-use ’Energy Angel’ units. He knew that Silver Weslan had a habit of equipping their sub-teams with a standard supply unit, called ’Supply One.’

’Supply One’ included basic equipment and consumables for various professions, even if those professions weren’t present in the team, to be fully prepared. With the Grand Guild’s financial capability and vast personnel, there were frequent opportunities for joint operations and mutual support.

To Fang Hong’s knowledge, the ’Energy Angel’ was on that list.

Sophie, sensing his subtext, turned in the communication Light Page to Xi next to her and said, ”Xi, open ’Supply One’. Let Mr. Xiaya see if it meets his satisfaction.”

As her Companion Star Knight, Xi didn’t dwell on the correctness of Sophie’s command; she immediately pressed the white crystal on her chest, and two Light Pages unfolded from the dark underground, one in front of the other, retracting slowly to reveal two brand new Flexible Constructs.
