Pillar of Yita

”It’s this guy...”

Zhang Yu’s hand paused midair for a moment before he lightly tapped to open the email.

”A video.” He was taken aback. Was it a recording? Or raw footage? This was sent by a former member of the super club, so it shouldn’t be too boring, right?—Somehow, his evaluations had been reduced to simply boring and not boring, as he squinted and yawned.

The video began to unfold slowly—russet mountains blended with purple in the sunlight. The view shook as it tilted downward, revealing a lush valley to Zhang Yu’s eyes. Where was this place? He quickly pondered; he had never been to Fenris, nor Saint Peru Valley. That was just an unknown corner of the mountains, not within the sight of someone like him.

In the video, a group of people was moving through the jungle—those were Rain Listener’s people, belonging to the guild of that guy. The ones in red across from them, such a peculiar taste could only belong to the Red Cloak Team from Jiefulite and their affiliated guilds in the China Competition Region—Red Cloak Team, isn’t that the guild currently ranked between eleventh and twelfth? The conservative atmosphere was being led by the BBK Alliance behind them, prompting Zhang Yu to develop a professional interest out of instinct.

Squinting his eyes, he began analyzing the combatants and quickly evaluated: low level, weak tactical awareness, disorganized formation, and so on. Zhang Yu almost burst out laughing. Why was Lonely White Field sending him videos like this? To mock him?

Having seen the performances of first-tier guilds in the Second World, what was before him was as uncomfortable as eating shit. Zhang Yu suddenly wondered if he had become too picky—wasn’t this the level to expect from newbies?

Hmm, so these were the reserves of Rain Listener’s brigade?

The view shifted in the video, a pyramid and a floating spire now appeared. It was only then that Zhang Yu recognized the place—Dragon’s Nest.

His hand suddenly stopped, nearly piercing through the screen.

In the video, it was Fang Hong entering the battlefield from mid-air, firing his Flying Claw, lowering his altitude to dodge the Blood Oath Alliance’s arrow rain, then using centrifugal force to swing to the other side of the pyramid. The whole process was as smooth as flowing water.

Zhang Yu was stunned for a good while. The tactic was somewhat whimsical. He considered himself experienced, but such out-of-the-box thinking was not something he often witnessed. Still, the execution was rough with clear mistakes, and the opponents were too weak; otherwise, he would have been shot into a hedgehog by now.

Out of professional habit, he gave his assessment and started the process of elimination. After ruling out each option, he concluded—this was definitely a new face. Zhang Yu suddenly understood the message Lonely White Field was trying to convey with this video—old ginger is spicier than the young—he thought to himself. This Supreme One was rather interesting; although lacking some polish, such whimsical tactics were indeed an eye-opener.

Worth paying attention to.

He opened his email system, about to reply, but right at that moment, Zhang Yu’s gaze sharpened as he noticed a line of small text beneath the video:

’You must think he is the Supreme One, right?’

Zhang Yu could almost imagine his old friend’s sly smile while writing that sentence.

But not the Supreme One?

What else could it be?

...

Deep beneath Saint Peru Valley, the sixth layer of ruins—

As for our ’Supreme One’ student, Fang Hong, he had barely managed to get Sophie’s approval to let the girl with the ice-cold gaze slightly move her Axe Spear away from him, which allowed him to breathe a sigh of relief.

Seeing him like this, Sophie felt amused. She had seen many geniuses, but such a timid one was a first. However, she didn’t let her amusement show; rather, she remained very serious: ”But I haven’t said that this matter is settled. Whether intentional or not, you killed me, and that’s a fact. You still owe me an explanation, right?”

Fang Hong glanced around nervously. The members of Silver Weslan were fine, not showing much hostility towards him, but the mountain maiden’s gaze felt like two sharp swords piercing right through him.

Well, who can blame her for him having killed their Companion Star Knight?

Alright, he considered himself a rational person. If not for being rational, the two stares might not have been just looks but an actual Long Halberd instead. Recognizing the situation, under Xi’s fiery gaze, Fang Hong earnestly nodded.

”It seems Mr. Xiaya is also a reasonable person,” Sophie thought for a moment and said: ”Death is irreversible. Of course, I won’t ask for anything meaningless. But if I ask Mr. Xiaya for a favor, that should be okay, right?”

Wait, isn’t ’death is irreversible’ supposed to be used here, but aren’t you clearly resurrected? Fang Hong blurted out: ”That depends on the favor...” But when he saw Xi’s murderous gaze, he swallowed his words: ”Of course... I mean, as long as it doesn’t go against my personal principles.”

As for what those personal principles were, of course, that was up for further discussion.

But Sophie could see through his pretenses and smiled: ”I kindly came to help you, only to be killed by you. Frankly, no one has killed me before. So the first time for Princess Vislan honestly should be worth the ticket price, right?”
