Pillar of Yita

The black comet tail still dropped upon Eteliria; the throne of flames and the worshipping Xinsas Serpentfolk, other than being a bit more exquisite and detailed, there was no difference in content.

”What are you looking at?”

After a while, Fang Hong felt somewhat dizzy from looking, but still couldn’t make sense of it and finally couldn’t help but ask.

Xi glanced back at him and did not answer.

”Are you interested in the history of Xinsas?”

The young girl then shook her head.

At that moment, a Light Page uninvitedly appeared in his vision, displaying the upper body of Miss Sophie, the princess of Silver Weslan, who smiled and said, ”It’s not Xi looking at these patterns on the door; it’s me, Mr. Xiaya.”

Only then did Fang Hong realize that the other party was inspecting the patterns on the giant door through a video call, using Xi’s perspective.

”Can you recognize the things on this door?”

”Only a part—”

”A part?” Fang Hong was surprised. Even Tainaric, a descendant of Andasok Lizardfolk and the actual heir of Xinsas, couldn’t fully explain it, yet the princess had said ”a part” right away.

He deeply doubted whether the other party was bragging.

Seeing the doubt in his eyes, Xi huffed lightly, ”Sophie has a reputation in our Guild as a non-Natural Historian Natural Historian. Do you think the Little Princess of Silver Weslan got her position just by luck?”

Fang Hong was taken aback, thinking wasn’t it because she was exceptionally beautiful? But dare not to say that and quickly shook his head, ”That’s not what I meant.”

”All right, Xi,” Sophie called out to the girl, replying, ”Mr. Xiaya doesn’t know about my talent; such a perspective is normal. Everyone who passes through the Stargate to this world receives a gift in Language Ability, but what I received wasn’t Colin Ishurian common language.”

”What did you say?” Fang Hong was stunned; he had never heard of such a thing as Language Ability being obtained by syncing with the Stargate, not Glow Material; hence he too had mastered the language of the region he entered through the Stargate.

”There’s nothing to hide,” Sophie replied, ”I’ve mastered the language of Xinsas Serpentfolk, and many people know this, it’s not a secret among the major Guilds.”

”Miss Sophie, which generation of Serpentfolk language do you master?” Fang Hong couldn’t help but ask; the Xinsas Empire had gone through three generations, and the turmoil in between had caused them to lose quite a lot of knowledge and heritage.

Especially in the last great upheaval, the entire Empire had disintegrated, and their followers had scattered, forming today’s Andasok, Asuka, and other Lizardfolk clans in the jungle.

”I only mastered the language of the third generation of Serpentfolk,” Sophie replied, ”it’s just a bit earlier than the contemporary Serpentfolk language, so there isn’t much I can read from here.”

But that was still quite impressive.

What great fortune it must have been to have such an encounter?

No wonder the people of Silver Weslan had made connections with Toragotos; undoubtedly, the princess had contributed to this. The old dragon had always been researching the Snake People Ruins underground, and for him, Sophie’s ability was clearly a great help.

”Then what can you read from this door?” Fang Hong couldn’t help but ask.

”This door describes a myth related to the first Star of Calamity,” Sophie replied, ”but unlike what many understand, the ancient Empire didn’t actually experience that disaster firsthand. The ancestors of the Serpentfolk, ’the ancient kings of Xinsas,’ saw the black comet tail pass through the clouds in a place they called ’the Black Wilderness.’

According to descriptions on many slates, they watched that scene continue for a hundred years, which I suspect might be the last act after the great disaster ended. They found a throne made of black metal at the site of the comet’s fall, and from there, what later came to signify Xinsas was born—”

”You mean, the first disaster occurred before the birth of Xinsas?” Fang Hong’s thoughts seemed to immerse themselves in that ancient era, but what did that mean? He had not gotten a clue from Sophie’s answer but was only more confused.

”I don’t know either,” Sophie shook her head, ”But there are other murals here, would you like to see them?”

Fang Hong nodded; although these things didn’t quite concern him directly, he couldn’t let go of the Obelisk underground without learning more about it.

Xi remained silent, turned around, and walked forward, Fang Hong followed her, one after another, towards the dark depths where a long staircase led downward, step by step, the underground grew eerily quiet, as if only the tapping footsteps echoed emptily.

It seemed as if covetous gazes lurked within the darkness, casting furtive glances from some unknown corners, almost imperceptible.

Down a nearly destroyed corridor, passing between toppling columns, the young girl suddenly stopped ahead, Fang Hong looked in that direction, a burst of light rose from Xi’s hand, it turned out she had struck a match—

The flickering warm light made the incomplete pictures on the walls instantly come alive.

It was a black high tower.

Standing among clouds with an abstract style, it rose from the earth, below was a crowd of various people who appeared to be relentlessly warring.

To the right of the mural was an abstract sun, on the other side was the moon and stars, and above the clouds, perched a black giant dragon, covered in stars, its tail hanging down from the clouds, watching the wars on the earth with an indifferent gaze.

When Fang Hong saw this mural, he was stunned.

What was this?
