Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1473 - 721: Our Treehouse Still Remains_3

Xu Xin wasn’t surprised: ”Just as we speculated before, those battle vehicles should be the last resort of the alien invaders’ leaders to attack the World Tree. It’s normal for them to be more destructive to the World Tree.”

”That’s true... And then what?” Li Wenxi asked curiously, ”What happened next? Where did those battle vehicles go? Did they leave?”

She looked around.

The surrounding jungle had long been destroyed, transformed into a slightly undulating vast plain.

You could see far into the distance.

But there were no battle vehicles.

It’s important to note that it had only been an hour since the World Tree was destroyed, so at their own speed, the battle vehicles shouldn’t have gotten too far away.

”Those battle vehicles...”

According to the giant beast, after the World Tree had completely withered, a purple-black light appeared underneath the vehicles.

Soon, with the eruption of the purple-black light, all the battle vehicles disappeared from the scene.

”Ah... So you mean, those battle vehicles, after completing the task of withering the World Tree, just teleported away?” Li Wenxi exclaimed, ”They left right after the World Tree withered?”

”Yes, they left immediately.” Xu Xin nodded, ”Without a moment’s hesitation, even before the wood chips from the World Tree in the air had completely scattered, they were already gone.”

”...Looking at it this way, these battle vehicles could very likely be entirely automated,” Xu Ying contemplated, ”They might... just be automated machines running on an automatic program.”

”When the giant ship was destroyed, they somehow activated and launched an attack on our World Tree. Their sole mission was to destroy our World Tree.”

”And after succeeding, they automatically teleported back.”

”As for their teleportation ability, that’s quite normal, given that their speed is really slow. If they were to return at their original speed after completing the mission, it would waste too much time.”

”Their automatic return using teleportation makes sense.”

Xu Ying’s reasoning seemed quite logical.

”But, if they returned, where did they return to?” Li Wenxi pondered, ”Could it be... back to the alien invaders’ stronghold? But we’ve never seen it...”

”If they did return to the alien invaders’ stronghold, these military facilities should have returned directly to the town surrounding the Teleportation Array.”

Xu Xin thought it over.

”The destruction of the World Tree happened an hour ago, just before we fired the main cannon of the giant ship. If the battle vehicles had returned by then, they might have already been destroyed by us.”

”Oh!” Xu Ying clapped her hands, smiling, ”Wouldn’t that be perfect? Our biggest fear right now is those battle vehicles, right? As long as they don’t make a comeback...”

”That’s only a possibility.” Xu Xin corrected, ”And personally, I don’t think those battle vehicles returned to the alien invaders’ stronghold.”

Li Wenxi’s eyes widened: ”You mean...”

She turned her head towards the direction of the three giant ship wreckages of the alien invaders.

”That’s right. These battle vehicles came out of the giant ship, so if they were to return, they should return to the giant ship.” Xu Xin nodded.

”But, the giant ship has been destroyed, only wreckage remains?” Li Wenxi found it unlikely.

Xu Ying began to ponder: ”It’s possible that part of the interior of the giant ship wasn’t destroyed. The fact that these battle vehicles remain intact is proof.”

”In that case...”

All three of them simultaneously looked towards the direction of the giant ship’s crash.

Over there, there might still be a battle vehicle army capable of flattening this World Tree!

And perhaps, at any given moment, they might be on the move again!

”We certainly can’t allow those battle vehicles to be so close!” Li Wenxi bit her lip, worried, ”They’re way too close!”

Even for those slow-moving battle vehicles, a hundred kilometers is only a few hours’ journey.

And they had no way to stop the battle vehicles from advancing.

”Maybe we should go over there and take a look.” Xu Xin suggested.

A map appeared in Xu Xin’s mind.

Unfortunately, that distance was too far, extending over a hundred kilometers eastward.

He hadn’t been there yet, so the map didn’t show the situation there.

”Huh? Now? Maybe we shouldn’t go right now...” Li Wenxi hesitated, ”Our nuclear strikes over there were too concentrated, and the radiation...”

Xu Ying also felt it was inappropriate: ”And what good would it do to go? We can’t... Oh, we can teleport those battle vehicles away?”

Her eyes lit up.

”How to teleport them away?” Xu Xin asked.

”The teleportation devices of the alien invaders.”

Xu Ying pointed to the crystal house where Xu Xin had placed the coordinates.

”Your coordinates won’t work, but the teleportation devices can.”

”We can draw Teleportation Array Patterns beneath those battle vehicles and teleport them directly to a very distant place, right? Given their speed, even a little distance would be insurmountable for them.”

”Ideally across a sea, then they wouldn’t be able to cross over at all!” Li Wenxi chimed in.

”You really think ahead,” Xu Xin laughed, ”I’m just a bit worried, not really sure if they’re over there.”

”Hmm... maybe we should just take a look. The more I think about it, the more uneasy I feel.”

Xu Ying said, grabbing the arms of the two.

Then Xu Xin flicked her forehead with a finger.

”Ow! What are you doing! Ah...”

Xu Ying quickly realized.

Her previous action was an attempt to teleport the two with her.

No help for it, she was really used to it.

Just like for someone who frequently walks, wanting to reach a particular spot means taking a step.

Suddenly losing her ”legs” left her a bit at a loss.

”Ugh... really not used to this...” muttered Xu Ying.

”Are we really going there? The radiation...” Li Wenxi expressed concern.

”No big deal,” Xu Ying replied, ”I survived the radiation just minutes after the explosion, as long as we have Sister Xuefei’s pills, we can recover.”

”...If we do go, it’s better for me to go alone.” Xu Xin suggested, ”Just going to confirm the situation, no need for all three of us to take risks. If there’s a problem over there, I’ll just place a coordinate and return, connecting the two places, and then we can figure out what to do next.”

”Is it really okay? Maybe we should wait until tomorrow.” Li Wenxi proposed, ”At least Ji Chaoyang’s prophecy assures us that we’ll be fine until tomorrow.”

”Alright,” Xu Xin nodded slightly.

At this moment, a sound of a portal forming came from the crystal house nearby.

Soon, many people began to walk out from the crystal house.

Shi Wanyun, Lou Fei’Er, and others brought the people back.

These people were gradually sent into the World Tree.

And Ji Chaoyang also emerged at this time.

”Why haven’t any of you gone inside?” he approached Xu Xin.

He seemed refreshed, apparently having... rested well.

Even though he had only been inside for a few minutes, a lot of time had passed inside the World Tree.

Before Xu Xin could speak, he said, ”We’ve almost got everything ready inside, there’s no problem with migrating people back now.”

”You’ve been working fast,” Xu Xin remarked with a smile.

”Not really, we just had more time. So, what were you doing out here...”

Xu Xin relayed their earlier assumptions to him.

”I see...” Ji Chaoyang contemplated for a moment, then said, ”Well, this matter really should be entrusted to you.”

Only Xu Xin could undertake the exploration.

Because only he could place the coordinates.

”Okay, I’ll head over now. Meanwhile, you... can focus on rebuilding our home.”

”Alright, leave this to us.”

Ji Chaoyang went back inside.

”So... the alien invaders’ stronghold...?” Xu Ying brought up.

”After we’ve confirmed the situation here, we can check that out,” Xu Xin replied, ”For now, you should take a break in this area.”

He pointed to the dozen tree houses surrounding the World Tree: ”You can rest in those tree houses while I go and return.”
