Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1465 - 719: Sweeping Push (Part 2)

At that time, the soft giant beast suppressed by the underground prison was this giant insect.

Back then, although it was large enough to fill that underground pit, it was by no means large enough to encircle Crystal City with its body.

”Hmm, its gigantic form is the breeding form of the Insect Mother,” Xu Ying said.

She was somewhat familiar with this Insect Mother.

After all, it was a giant beast they created from another space-time, and she was one of the participants.

”The gene pool of the Insect Mother is extremely complex, allowing it to breed a wide variety of giant insects. However, because its genes are too chaotic, even though it can reproduce offspring, its offspring do not have breeding capabilities.”

”This is also what we wanted and created. Our intention in creating the Insect Mother was to create a gigantic, automated biological war machine that can rapidly produce a large number of powerful offspring, but the offspring are merely weapons, otherwise...”

Everyone understood what Xu Ying meant.

The Insect Mother reproduces at such a rapid pace, and its offspring seem to be considered adults upon birth.

If those offspring could continue reproducing, it wouldn’t be a war machine, but a disaster generator.

The reproduction speed of insects is terrifying!

Without restrictions, it would only continuously birth an inextinguishable insect plague.

”And every time it breeds on a large scale, its body expands to an enormous size, and after breeding, the body stretched to dozens of times its size is difficult to recover, resulting in the phenomenon of shedding the original body.”

Xu Ying continued to explain.

”It normally doesn’t shed its skin; it only does so after a large-scale birth, which you actually witnessed.”

”So that’s how it is.”

Ji Chaoyang nodded and then continued to narrate the events near the World Tree.

As the giant insect ceased breeding and emerged from its discarded body, the alien invaders’ vehicles were only twenty kilometers from the World Tree.

Ji Chaoyang also ordered the halt of nuclear weapon attacks.

Just after the World Tree stopped attacking, the swarm of insects suddenly started to move!

Countless giant insects suddenly began to surge!

They collectively launched a charge toward the convoy of vehicles!

The swarm that had just been born was clearly acting on the Insect Mother’s orders, rushing toward the vehicles that even nuclear bombs couldn’t destroy under the direction of their ”mother”!

At that moment, everyone within the World Tree was watching this scene nervously.

In fact, they had already anticipated it.

Since the Insect Mother had given birth to such a swarm of insects, it was bound to act at some point!

What surprised them was that the Insect Mother itself also moved with the Insect Race army.

However, it wasn’t moving fast; it was leisurely, just like when it surrounded Crystal City before.

As if taking a stroll.

The swarms around it surged past it in groups, much faster than its speed.

And its target was quickly identified by everyone inside the World Tree.

It was obvious that the direction it moved toward was the lake!

And at some point, a serpent head had emerged from the lake.

Its rock-like scales glowed with a chilling light even under the sunlight.

Its abyss-like black eyes were staring in the direction of the Insect Mother.

Finally, the Insect Mother reached the bottomless lakeside, and its body, which had already shrunk significantly, burrowed into the lake.

Soon, the several-hundred-meter-long body disappeared without a trace.

Leaving behind a long trail on the ground and the thick, somewhat damaged insect skin around Crystal City.

And the incessantly charging Insect Race army still rushing toward the convoy of vehicles.

”Wow... just left its newly born offspring here to die and ran away...”

Zeng Tao remarked that the Insect Mother was somewhat cruel.

”The offspring it spawns are merely obedient, artificially accelerated weapons,” Xu Ying shook her head and said, ”Those hurriedly grown insects would only live a few days even without battle damage, so there’s nothing cruel about it.”

”If you want to talk about cruelty, it’s us who are more so, because the Insect Mother was genetically modified by us.”

Xu Ying pointed at herself and then at everyone around.

”That was another space-time version of us... well, close enough,” Zhao Xiaochuan shrugged.

The giant insects soon reached the vehicles.

But they did not attack the vehicles; some pounced on them, others pushed against the front.

Every vehicle was surrounded by hundreds of giant insects.

Their purpose was not to destroy the vehicles but to slow down their advance!

This should be the command given by the giant insect.

It seemed that the giant insect was well aware that blocking these vehicles was nearly impossible; the best it could do was delay them.

Its order was effective.

The countless insects’ leaps and pushes efficiently impeded the vehicles’ progress.

But this situation did not last long.

Because the vehicles opened fire for the first time.

Amidst the roar and flames, the shattered bodies of the insects flew everywhere, and the sky was filled with transparent, yellow, and green insect fluids scattering around.
