Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 586: Chapter 402: Siege

Behind them, the sharp and prolonged cry of the winged dragon statue echoed.

Xu Xin and the others turned their heads slightly, glancing backward.

They saw the winged dragon statue spread its wings once more and let out a long howl to the sky!

The surrounding trees were also swept aside by the outspread wings once again with its movement!

Right after, the surrounding mutant creature statues seemed to receive a command and suddenly went berserk!

Originally, they were moving slowly and cautiously, but now they suddenly charged towards Xu Xin and the others!

What’s going on!

Could it be that too many people have passed and been too arrogant, making the winged dragon statue a bit displeased?!

Damn it, we should have passed one by one from the start!

A distance of more than twenty meters was a mere instant for the intermediate mutant creature statues!

Several mutant creature statues were already within arm’s reach!

Beside him, was Lou Fei’Er using a dagger, not powerful enough against the statues, and an archer whose attacks, though precise, lacked destructive power.

Their attacks were almost negligible against these statues without clear weaknesses.

The only one who could inflict strong damage on the statues, Zeng Tao, had temporarily lost her abilities.

He could only rely on himself!

Xu Xin couldn’t think much more, and immediately pulled a broadsword from his backpack, swinging it towards the approaching intermediate mutant creatures.

Though this broadsword was a size smaller than Zeng Tao’s, it was still very heavy.

After all, it was a steel sword forged from refined purple-grade steel!

At that time, he had kept a weapon of each type for himself.

Once he held the broadsword, Xu Xin felt his hand sink.

So heavy!

However, as it was a purple-grade broadsword, its weight to him was halved, while the enemies experienced double the weight.

Thus, even though Xu Xin’s strength was relatively weaker compared to Zeng Tao and Wang Lei, he could still wield this broadsword that he normally shouldn’t be able to move.

Of course, it was still somewhat strenuous to wield.

As for why he didn’t use the spear...

Because the spear didn’t have as much destructive power as the broadsword.

Moreover, he had been somewhat envious of Zeng Tao’s fighting style and wanted to try it himself.

”Crack, crack, crack!”

The familiar sound of a statue being shattered rang out.

Though the surrounding mutant creature statues were sturdy, they couldn’t withstand the attacks from the purple-grade steel broadsword.

In an instant, several statues were sliced in half by the broadsword, shattering directly under its heavy impact!

So satisfying!

Wielding a sword, so satisfying!

The sword in his hand was already slipping from his grasp.

He could feel its massive weight.

While the enemies faced four times the impact!

Numerous statues were cleaved and shattered simultaneously under the prowess of the broadsword!

”Oh my goodness!” Zeng Tao cried out in astonishment.

Her eyes widened, and her mouth slightly agape, utterly flabbergasted.

Just moments before, she instinctively pulled out another sword from her backpack.

Because of past habits, her backpack was always filled with various weapons. After all, ordinary weapons simply couldn’t withstand use.

But after she pulled out this green-grade broadsword, she couldn’t hold it at all.

If it weren’t for Lou Fei’Er’s quick reflexes pulling her away, she might have been crushed to the ground by the sword she pulled out herself.

But before she could regret it, the flash of blade light before her eyes directed her attention to the scene unfolding ahead.

Xu Xin, wielding a broadsword that gleamed with metallic luster, easily sliced through a circle of mutant creature statues in front of him!

This... this...

This is just too cool! This sword!

It was simply her dream weapon!

In an instant, she completely forgot about the shattered stone knife from before, her eyes fixated only on the sword in Xu Xin’s hands.

Just as Xu Xin was about to swing his sword again to fend off the attacking mutant creature statues, he suddenly noticed...

These mutant creature statues didn’t seem to be heading towards them after all.

Because, apart from the few statues he shattered, the other statues didn’t pay them any attention; they headed straight for the treehouse!

”It seems like they’re not here to attack us; they’re heading for the treehouse instead?”

Qin Fu kicked a piece of a trembling mutant creature statue on the ground and spread his hands: ”Looks like you attacked them by mistake.”

Besides Zeng Tao, still staring at the broadsword in Xu Xin’s hands with her mouth open, the other three turned to look back at the treehouse.

They saw a mutant creature statue resembling a leopard climbing up the treehouse’s trunk, reaching the bottom of the treehouse’s canopy.

Which was right beneath the central position of the first floor of the treehouse.

Then, it aimed a fierce claw at the bottom of the treehouse!

The group heard the sound of wood breaking.

After unleashing that mighty claw, leaving deep marks at the bottom of the treehouse, the leopard lost its balance and fell.

At the same time, another mutant creature climbed up seven or eight meters of the trunk, aiming another claw at the spot that the leopard statue had attacked!

Then it too fell.

One after another, the mutant creatures climbed up the trunk, taking turns attacking the damaged part of the treehouse base, which was continuously self-repairing.

In the end, in less than ten seconds, the base of the treehouse was struck over twenty times and was completely shattered with a large hole!

After this large hole was opened, the mutated stone creatures climbed the tree trunk one after another and entered the treehouse.

At this point, the group had already retreated to a spot a hundred meters away from the treehouse and crouched behind a tree.

Neither the mutated stone creatures nor the pterodactyl statues cast another glance at them.

So they hid here, observing the situation with the treehouse.

Around the treehouse, not a single mutated stone statue remained; every one of them had already entered the treehouse.

Xu Xin narrowed his eyes slightly, staring at Lou Fei’Er’s treehouse in thought.

It seems his guess was indeed correct; these statues were here for Xiaohong.

Otherwise, they wouldn’t inexplicably burrow into a treehouse.

But after these statues got in, why hasn’t there been any noise at all?

He thought that once they went in, the statues would turn the treehouse upside down.

Yet there wasn’t even a sound of footsteps.

”Is this really okay?”

Qin Fu looked at the treehouse, which appeared very calm as if nothing had happened.

”What do those statues want to do? It doesn’t look like they’re trying to dismantle the treehouse? Interesting.” He stroked his chin.

”If they wanted to destroy the treehouse, they wouldn’t need to go inside; they could just attack the trunk,” Lou Fei’Er speculated. ”Since they went inside, they must be looking for something. It’s just...”

But what is there in her abandoned treehouse that this group of statues needs?

She looked towards Xu Xin, knowing that he must know something.

And Xu Xin was currently focusing on the other side of the treehouse, at the pterodactyl statue which was lingering near the giant pit and hadn’t moved away.

The pterodactyl statue was no longer watching them but instead looking at the treehouse, its stone eyes still flickering with a red glow.

It seemed to be waiting for the statues inside to come out and bring it the information it wanted.

But why didn’t it go in itself?

With its destructive power, it could probably easily destroy a defenseless treehouse, right?

Moreover, just now, after angrily striking Zeng Tao once, it hadn’t continued the pursuit but instead stayed in place.

It seemed like it never moved beyond twenty meters from that giant pit, right?

Could it be that it can’t stray too far from the pit?

A glint flashed in Xu Xin’s eyes.

If this is the case, if the pterodactyl statue is indeed restricted in movement, then...

Could he attack it from outside its range?

For example...

Explosion crossbow bolts!

Directly blast its big head with explosive crossbow bolts!

On the map, it’s a bright red dot, undoubtedly an enemy unit.

Such a formidable enemy unit, he must find a way to eliminate it!

At this moment, his arm was tugged. When he turned his head, it was Zeng Tao.

Zeng Tao was now looking at him with eyes full of excitement, her previous disdain for him completely gone.

”Hey... how did you make that big sword just now?” Zeng Tao pulled his arm twice more and asked in a low voice.

She really liked the big sword Xu Xin was holding just now!

The only downside was that it was a bit small.

If it could be a bit bigger, that would be great!

”Is that a metal weapon? Or a high-grade metal weapon? I guess it’s blue-grade, right?” Without waiting for Xu Xin to speak, Zeng Tao asked several questions in a row.

Looks like she’s hooked.

Xu Xin used the big sword just now for another reason: to bait her with this purple-grade big sword.

To make her willingly join the explorers.

Because Xu Xin also noticed, her obsession with weapons seemed very deep.

A good weapon might really hook her directly.

However...

When Xu Xin took out this metal weapon, he was already prepared to reveal his identity.

After all, not everyone can make metal weapons.

But Zeng Tao seemed to focus entirely on the weapon, not noticing this point.

Qin Fu, beside him, looked at her with an expression that seemed to say she was a little fool.

He wanted to say, isn’t it obvious? The person has basically told you.

Even Lou Fei’Er, who had been mentally suppressed by the pterodactyl statue, managed to come to her senses, looked away from Zeng Tao while holding back a laugh, glanced at Qin Fu, and pursed her lips without saying anything.

She could also see that Qin Fu likely had already seen through Xu Xin’s identity.

However, whether or not Qin Fu had seen through it didn’t interfere with her task of keeping an eye on him to prevent his escape.

”That’s right, it’s a metal weapon. Why, do you want it?” Xu Xin patted his backpack.

His big sword was already stored in his backpack.

Even though it was half the weight, holding that big sword all the time was too heavy for him.

To him, it was nothing but a burden.

...Looks like he needs to use a strength potion to boost his strength a bit.

He can’t even carry a sword, which is unacceptable.

”A metal big sword, really! Is it made of iron? It has to be made of iron! Where did you buy this sword from, and is it for sale?” Zeng Tao was still tugging on his arm, refusing to let go.
