Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 558: Chapter 378 Awakening Experience

To make mental potions, you need ten blue-grade oranges and a portion of universal alchemy materials.

Xu Xin checked his backpack.

Hmm...

The materials aren’t sufficient.

The blue-grade iron blocks and black gold blocks have been used up.

With no other choice, he made a voice call to Li Wenxi.

”What’s up?” Li Wenxi’s voice came through.

”Are you done?”

”Not yet, the four people who came to me just had the side effects of the teleportation portal wear off and have just planted the tree house,” Li Wenxi replied. ”I’m planning to go visit Sister Gui Xin, and maybe bring back a few people to work for me.”

”Impressive, you’re increasingly becoming a mining foreman. How was today’s harvest?”

”It’s a prospector! Hehe, I dug all day and got a lot of materials, but that mine is about to be emptied by me. I should find the next mining spot... I know, are you short on materials again?”

”Yes... Indeed, I need to make mental potions to try healing Lou Fei’Er, short on blue-grade iron and steel blocks.”

”Blue-grade? I’ll send them to you right away.”

Li Wenxi immediately initiated a trade with him.

”By the way, today I harvested a lot, the matter of the purple-grade weapon set should be fine! But now, I haven’t smelted much yet, wait till the evening when materials are sufficient, I’ll come to find you!”

After chatting for a while, they ended the call, and Xu Xin went to the alchemy room downstairs to immediately make two bottles of mental potion.

”Huh? What’s this...”

Just as he was about to go upstairs, he suddenly saw a new blueprint in the alchemy list.

[Vision Potion (Purple): A potion that can greatly and permanently enhance vision, with a certain chance of gaining permanent ability: X-ray vision. Requires Red Berry·Extra Large (Purple) *10, Universal Alchemy Material (Purple) *1]

!!!

Purple-grade alchemy potion!

Unexpectedly, a purple-grade alchemy potion appeared!

Was it because he harvested a purple-grade fruit, hence a new blueprint appeared?

This purple-grade vision potion not only greatly enhances vision but also has a certain chance to directly gain permanent X-ray vision ability!

How powerful!

However, among the required materials, there is something he can’t make at the moment.

Universal Alchemy Material (Purple).

The materials needed to make Universal Alchemy Material (Blue) are mutated plant sap, blue-grade iron sand, and blue-grade silver dust, gold dust, or black gold dust.

To make purple-grade Universal Alchemy Materials, these need to be a higher grade.

Forget it.

No need.

There’s no need to necessarily gain permanent X-ray vision.

Besides, it’s not a 100% chance to gain the ability, just a probability.

We’ll talk about it when materials are abundant in the future.

Furthermore, he still has sixteen remaining extra-large purple-grade red berries, which are invaluable.

Holding two bottles of mental potion, Xu Xin returned to the secondary bedroom on the third floor.

He helped Lou Fei’Er sit up, pinching her cheeks gently to open her mouth.

He poured a bottle of mental potion into her mouth.

The comatose Lou Fei’Er’s body moved slightly, subconsciously swallowing the entire bottle of orange-flavored mental potion into her stomach.

”Hmm...”

Immediately, she let out a soft hum from her throat.

Then her eyes slowly opened.

Her gaze first looked confused, then suddenly widened, pupils contracted, and her face instantly turned pale.

She tried to jerk up.

Unfortunately, she was currently in a weakened state, and her body didn’t obey her commands, collapsing forward directly onto the bed.

”Ugh...”

Lou Fei’Er propped up her body, dully looking at Xu Xin, and then her eyes gradually became clearer: ”Ah! This is in the tree house? I... I...”

”How do you feel now?” Xu Xin asked.

”Now... Ah, I remember, I went into burst mode!” Lou Fei’Er’s eyes trembled.

She didn’t mind Xu Xin being there; she pulled open her collar and looked at her body.

Then her face turned bitter.

”It’s over, the blood patterns have become denser... boo-hoo, I’m turning into a monster...”

Xu Xin saw it too.

Her chest indeed had a higher density of blood patterns than before.

Originally, the blood patterns on her body were still relatively sparse, even less dense than the blood patterns on low-level mutated organisms of the same size.

Now, purely in terms of blood pattern density, she’s reached the level of a low-level mutated organism.

”So, how do you feel?” Xu Xin asked again.

”Feeling...” Lou Fei’Er raised her arm, ”feeling much better than after the last burst mode ended. Last time I couldn’t even lift my arm; now, I should be able to get down and walk.”

Yes, much like Ma Hongwei after his second mutation.

It seems the weakness during the weak period is becoming less severe.

”Ah, right!” Lou Fei’Er suddenly cried out, then reached out and grabbed Xu Xin’s arm, ”I, I, I... I stabbed a hairy monster! And it’s a very tall one, over two meters tall hairy monster!”

She began to recount her experiences to Xu Xin.

...

After leaving the tree house, she immediately headed in the direction Xu Xin had indicated to her, towards the northeast.

The closer she got there, the stronger a feeling became.

A... feeling of her kind!

Here, there were others like her!

Mutated humans!

But this feeling was different from last time when she and Xu Xin discovered mutated humans beneath the snow.

This should be what Xu Xin and the others referred to as hairy monsters!

She followed her sense of direction, weaving through the snowy forest layers.

That feeling was getting closer!

She knew that the other side could also sense her.

Because, as per her perception, the other side’s position was steadily moving towards her!

Moreover, the coming was not friendly!

If the other side were mutated humans, then their intelligence might not be any lower than hers.

She cannot be discovered.

Her fighting style is really not suited for a head-on confrontation with enemies.

So she immediately had Axue move away, while she slid some distance toward the presence.

Then, she stopped in place and used the ability of the Cloak of Concealment to hide her figure.

Including her presence, everything was concealed.

Just seconds after she concealed herself, something unexpected happened.

A tall figure peeked out from behind a tree.

On the brown fur, red blood patterns were densely covered, and blood-red eyes looked toward Lou Fei’Er’s position.

This sudden situation nearly made her gasp out loud.

How could this guy suddenly peek out from behind a tree!

Although there are many trees in this forest, they are all bare, so the view wasn’t really obstructed.

Unless this guy was hiding motionlessly behind the tree the whole time, otherwise, she wouldn’t have failed to notice!

But in her perception, this guy had been moving in her direction!

Could it be that it was moving beneath the snow?

...

When Lou Fei’Er spoke up to this point, Xu Xin’s eyes slightly narrowed.

He suddenly thought of that fur-covered creature, which he had blasted into a retreat with one exploding crossbow bolt.

That guy, after scurrying away for several hundred meters, directly burrowed into the snow layer.

But why did it wait until after several hundred meters before burrowing in?

Could it be they didn’t want survivors to know they could move within the snow layer?

Very likely.

If it wasn’t for his enhanced sight plus x-ray vision, he wouldn’t have seen that furry creature burrowing into the snow layer.

...

Lou Fei’Er continued speaking.

She was startled by the furry head that suddenly peeked out from behind the tree.

But she steadied her body and didn’t move at all.

The furry creature’s body peeked out more than halfway from the tree.

It was then that she realized how tall this furry creature was!

Even when slightly hunched, the height of this furry creature already exceeded two meters!

She had heard descriptions of furry creatures from Li Wenxi and Qi Xuefei, but no one had told her they were so tall.

She instantly realized the uniqueness of this furry creature.

Maybe killing it would resolve this beast tide attack problem!

She stood still, not moving at all.

Xu Xin was enlightened.

No wonder.

When he checked Lou Fei’Er’s position back then, her indicator light was stationary.

So, it turns out the furry creature was right beside her at that time.

Lou Fei’Er continued to tell the story.

The furry creature let out a somewhat puzzled cry at her.

The cry was sharp and unpleasant, similar to the cry of the monkeys at Mount Emei, but more unpleasant.

She truly didn’t expect this big creature to make such a sound.

She didn’t move at all, but her whole body was tense.

As long as this big creature got close, she could instantly draw the dagger at her waist and stab it into its heart!

With the negative state of the purple-grade dagger, the creature stabbed in the heart couldn’t possibly survive!

She gradually quieted her breathing, allowing her mindset to slowly relax.

The furry creature didn’t come toward her but kept staring in her direction.

Its body then completely emerged from behind the tree.

Her pupils contracted sharply.

She saw that in the furry creature’s hand, it held a black, spike-covered Wolf Fang Club.

The whole club was stained with blood, looking incredibly sinister and frightening.

Most importantly, it was made of metal.

A metal weapon!

Moreover, it somehow seemed more advanced than iron.

”I feel that the weapon in its hand is no worse than the one on my waist,” Lou Fei’Er said as she touched the purple-grade dagger still hanging at her waist.

Xu Xin shivered internally.

... A purple-grade weapon?

”However, it wasn’t wearing any armor; aside from that Wolf Fang Club, it only had a coat of fur.” Lou Fei’Er continued.

The furry creature was indeed very intelligent. It started patrolling cautiously near the area where Lou Fei’Er ”disappeared.”

Lou Fei’Er never got a chance because its vigilance was so high there was no opening at all.

She stayed motionless, silently waiting in place.

Nearby, the furry creature wielding the Wolf Fang Club wandered back and forth, while she waited for an opportunity to strike.

Finally, the furry creature made a move.

But it wasn’t because it discovered her.

The furry creature suddenly turned its head, looking toward the east, and let out a sound... that sounded somewhat dissatisfied.

Xu Xin raised an eyebrow.

East?

Wasn’t that the direction he was in at that time?

Could it be because he chased off another furry creature and destroyed the Teleportation Array Pattern they set up, making this big guy notice?

”The furry creature kept staring in that direction, even seeming frustrated, continuously making that unpleasant sound, as if complaining,” Lou Fei’Er continued.

”I waited for a while, and in its most agitated, inattentive, and completely unprepared moment, I suddenly struck!”

Recalling the instant she struck, her expression turned unusually excited, even tinged with a hint of red, as her arm lightly swung.

After enduring for so long, she finally made her move, unleashing her strongest attack!

At that moment, the furry creature had its back turned to her, leaving it wide open.

Her dagger smoothly and deeply plunged in, straight through the back into the heart!
