”It’s terrifying, isn’t it? The sharp spear to deal with the Insect Race eventually became a weapon for slaughtering humans... It was an extremely formidable Insect King, with Level Eight Telekinesis. Once the warriors were controlled, they all insectified, and the battle collapsed instantly...”

”My great-grandfather was one of the lead researchers, and many talented members of the family participated in the experiments... Once this happened, the entire family collapsed as well. Great-grandfather couldn’t bear the torment inside and committed suicide. My family wasn’t large, and with such an incident, although we weren’t punished, we lost a lot...”

”My grandfather and father were both ordinary in terms of aptitude, so they led relatively peaceful lives at the rear. But things didn’t end so quickly. My uncle had great talent and joined the military. However, he was rebellious by nature, not accepting guidance or restraint, only able to be a tool in others’ hands, without the ability to wield the tool. His mistaken orders delayed military actions... This was serious...”

Delaying military affairs... What a serious crime is this? Gu Ningzhi knew very well that if it was taken seriously enough, it could cost someone their life and implicate their family.

”Our family was implicated, and our already unfortunate days became even more difficult.” Gong Yulu spoke slowly, his expression showing little emotion, ”Later, during an Insect Race attack, everyone but me was gone...”

”As a war orphan, I was taken in by a special organization of the Alliance, my past memories erased, living merely as a puppet.”

”Wait... A puppet? And your memory was erased, then how are you now...” Gu Ningzhi was puzzled.

”Retrieving past memories isn’t difficult for me; the problem is whether I want to retrieve them or not.”

”Having memory erased has its benefits, at least pure and loyal without question! I don’t have very good combat skills, but I inherited my great-grandfather’s mind, having a natural advantage in research. The organization’s method of knowledge inheritance was quite extreme, but at that time, it was the most convenient, time-saving, and labor-saving teaching method, forcibly instilling memory into the brain... I graduated very early.”

”Under the alias Wu Su, I infiltrated the training organization where Xiao Meng was, receiving equal education. Xiao Meng had a more intense personality and wasn’t as cautious and steady as now. Few were willing to befriend her. My personality was more cold, so the instructor simply put her, me, and that smooth Han Yeming together to form a mobile combat team.”

”You must know, my existence had no freedom. Whatever the top ordered me to do, I did, without resistance and unable to resist. For several years, Xiao Meng and I cooperated well, and we were good friends who went through life and death. However, midway I received a recall order from the top, had to go back, and thus... the identity of Wu Su couldn’t be used anymore, she needed to disappear!”

Gu Ningzhi asked, ”You wouldn’t have... simply faked your death right in front of her, would you?”

”Wrong, on orders from the top, I chose to fake my death at Xiao Meng’s hands...” Gong Yulu shrugged helplessly, ”Telekinesis, this ability, is inherently mysterious. To grow, aside from necessary accumulation, mental stimulation is most important. External mental stimulation has limited impact on the improvement of telekinesis... So, the more painful she was, the closer she was to a mental breakdown, the more effective it was...”

”You’re twisted!” After hesitating for quite some time, Gu Ningzhi concluded with this sentence.

”Shedding the identity of Wu Su, I survived again under the identity of 336073, becoming a lead researcher in charge of various research at the institute. However, things didn’t end so quickly. During a rescue mission on a planet, we unfortunately met again...”

Gu Ningzhi really wanted to cover his face because of this melodramatic story; he could imagine Su Jiameng’s contorted, conflicted face at that time.

”The atmosphere at the time was a bit strange, but there was no fighting, which was a decent result; everyone had grown up and matured. I received the order to abandon the rescue on that planet, while Xiao Meng... her order was to do everything to rescue.”

”Completely opposite orders?” Gu Ningzhi really wanted to say, what kind of split order is this?

”This brings us to the issue of my and her factions; the Military Department factions we belonged to were opposing, although they were united against external threats, internal struggles were still surging. Furthermore, at that time... in my opinion, aid should have been chosen. The Insect Race had just started to ravage; if the rescue was timely, at least seventy percent of people could have survived! But I, due to the order, chose to abandon it!”
