From BOSS to Canon Fodder: She is Currently Out of Service!

Just as Su Jiameng expected, when Shangguan Ruiqi was pushed to the brink, he indeed unleashed a sonic attack unique to the Mermaid Clan. The powerful sound waves radiated from him, causing invisible ripples to spread through the air. However, as these strong sound waves surged outward, they were completely intercepted by a massive spherical Spiritual Barrier!

Shangguan Ruolin was at the edge of the external part of the Spiritual Barrier; though this was intercepting the sonic attack, the slight leak of force still made his expression change. He couldn’t imagine what would have happened if he hadn’t followed Su Jiameng’s advice.

If this attack had occurred in the Advanced Department, there would have been casualties, but not many. However, now in the Elementary Department, which is enrolling new students, a single sonic attack could destroy the spiritual power or kill countless children! The catastrophic consequences could be nearly destructive, possibly leading to the closure of the entire Xilena First Affiliated School!

The sonic attack of the merpeople is undoubtedly extremely terrifying. Even though Su Jiameng’s current spiritual power has already surpassed the limit, she can only exert the strength of a 3S peak, otherwise, the risk of being exposed is too great for her to gamble. However, maintaining such a large Spiritual Barrier with 3S spiritual power made her grunt in pain, as if countless fine needles pierced her brain.

”Such a major threat must not be allowed to remain. As the saying goes, strike first to gain the upper hand, strike later and face disaster. Rather than waiting for these guys to cause us trouble, it’s better to eliminate them first.” Su Jiameng gritted her back teeth, a pallor appearing on her face.

If she could use Telekinesis, she wouldn’t be such a mess. But fortunately, the sonic attack of the Mermaid Clan has a time limit. Between two sonic attacks, there is a significant ”Silence Period,” during which they cannot attack again.

Who knows what drug Shangguan Ruiqi took, but the duration and intensity of the sonic waves were unexpectedly strong. However, Shangguan Ruiqi, being half human and half mermaid, still had human genes interfering internally, and his spiritual power was not extremely strong. This sonic attack did not last long; after entering a high-pitched explosive phase, it rapidly weakened.

Su Jiameng sighed in relief. After retracting her spiritual power, her face showed a hint of redness. She contacted Shangguan Ruolin again, ”That guy is now also at the end of his rope. How do you plan to deal with him? Kill him on the spot, or imprison him for life?”

Shangguan Ruolin did not reply. He piloted his mecha and, along with the arriving reinforcements, subdued Shangguan Ruiqi’s mecha and forcibly took him away. Before leaving, Shangguan Ruolin replied, ”He managed to escape once before; this time, there will be no second chance! A criminal from the Military Department, dreaming of surviving to face life imprisonment, do you think he has that kind of luck?”

Was that a hint that Shangguan Ruiqi wouldn’t survive? Su Jiameng’s gaze fixed on Shangguan Ruiqi’s mecha as Changxi reached out to her, ”Master, if we let Shangguan Ruiqi leave now, there’s no guarantee he won’t escape death. Why not kill him now while we have the chance?”

”No need, that Shangguan Ruiqi... hahaha, even without our intervention, and even if the Shangguan Family shows mercy, he wouldn’t live for more than two days.” Su Jiameng suddenly recalled the issue of the increasing proportion of mermaid genes, ”After all, Shangguan Ruiqi wasn’t born naturally. The genetic risks of interspecies fusion are already so great, let alone those artificially fused in a lab...”

Upon hearing this, Changxi instantly understood. He finally realized why Su Jiameng was so assured.

Indeed, with such unstable genes, there is always the risk of collapse, and even celestial beings couldn’t save him if it happens. To maintain the balance between human and mermaid genes, some kind of mediators must be used.

Now that the mermaid genes are growing overwhelmingly stable, it means the genetic equilibrium has already been disrupted, otherwise, Shangguan Ruiqi couldn’t have unleashed such a powerful sonic attack. As the mermaid gene proportion increases, Shangguan Ruiqi becomes more like a ”mermaid,” hence his ability to launch sonic attacks akin to a true mermaid!

Even though we are in the interstellar era and the field of medicine is highly advanced, there are very few genetic diseases that can be conquered—more often than not, it’s an impasse! Shangguan Ruiqi’s genes have already collapsed, and his remaining time is exceedingly limited.
