My Youth Began With Him

Zhixin shook his head in exasperation and almost said his mother’s brain was muddled with age.

He was a high-level executive in GK with an annual salary in the millions.

He was a frugal guy and spent money on nothing but his dates with his girlfriend. He was a trouble-free child.

“Mom, did Zhixin used to ask for money from Sister Mian?” Bella asked with a chuckle.

“Not really. But Mian spoiled him… She always gave him money she had saved so he could buy all kinds of toy cars and model planes, etc.”

“Sister Mian, you doted on him so much?” Bella glanced at Huo Mian with a smile.

“Yeah. He’s my only brother.”

“Ms. Huo Mian, why don’t you say you’re a slave to your younger brother?”

“Shut up… Shame on you…”

As the sister and brother bickered with each other, Yang Meirong watched them happily as if they were young children again.

“Grandma, I’m starving. When can we have supper?” Little Bean was impatient.

“Little eating machine, you’re always hungry. If you keep it up, you’d become fat.”

“Grandma, you sound as if she isn’t fat already. She’s fat now.” Pudding took the opportunity to mock her sister.

“Qin Zhaozhao, shut up… I don’t mind you saying it now, but if you dare to say it in front of Boyuan, I’ll…”

Little Bean raised her small fist ferociously.

“You’ll what?” Pudding didn’t back down.

“I’ll… put your sleeping gown under me when I wet the bed the next time. Hahahaha.”

Pudding: “…”

“You’re disgusting, Little Bean.”

“You’re no better, so you can stop accusing me.”

“Stop it. I’ve become dizzy from hearing you argue. Now let’s eat.”

After the happy meal of hot pot, Huo Mian told Zhixin to take Bella back to her home.

After all, they had registered for marriage and Zhixin should go and visit his parents-in-law formally.

Since Bella wanted to keep things low-profiled, they didn’t plan to have a wedding. After all, they had received enough good wishes on their engagement banquet. So after the registration, they intended to visit their parents only.

After they were gone, Yang Meirong put the twins to bed in the bedroom on the first floor and walked out.

“Mom, are they asleep?”

“Yeah. They are tired and I guess they’ll sleep for a while.”

“Good.”

“Mian, are you sleepy? Pregnant women need to sleep a lot; it’s good for the development of the baby’s brain,” her mother instructed.

“Mom, I’m an OB/GYN doctor and know all this stuff… Please sit down and talk with me. I haven’t had a good chat with you for a long time.”

“Okay.”

Yang Meirong followed her daughter’s advice and sat down on the sofa.

Huo Mian lay her head on her mother’s thigh intimately just as she had done as a child; Yang Meirong reached out her calloused palms and touched Huo Mian’s long black hair.

“In the blink of an eye, you’re almost thirty now… and a mother of three kids. How time flies.”

“Mom. Now that Zhixin and Bella are formally married, where do they intend to live?”

“Didn’t you renovate an apartment for them? I told them to move there in a few days, but Zhixin is reluctant; he’s afraid I’d get lonely.”

“Yeah. If they moved out, you’d be alone. This apartment is quite big with two levels. Will you be afraid to live here alone?”

“What am I afraid about? I’m old and won’t get paranoid.”

“Mom, please move to South Hill Manor and live with me, so you can help me take care of the baby when he’s out.”

Huo Mian begged her mother to move in with her so she could take care of her mother.
