My Youth Began With Him

“You think so, too?”

Huo Mian had thought it was her imagination, but if Mr. Qin had the same feeling, it meant something wasn’t right.

“Yeah.”

Nie Lingxuan wasn’t close with Huo Mian. Huo Mian was friends with Xixi but Xixi was pregnant and living abroad with Rick, and they only kept in touch through WeChat and phone calls.

After a moment of consideration, Huo Mian took out her cellphone and sent Xixi a WeChat message.

“Xixi.”

“What’s up, Sister Mian?’

“Did you give the invitation to your sister?”

“Yeah. I’m sorry, Sister Mian, but I didn’t mean to keep it a secret. My sister said she wanted to go back but didn’t have a good excuse. Knowing you’d have a birthday party, I… You know how she loves President Su.”

“Okay, got it. I don’t blame you; I just wanted to confirm it with you.”

“Confirm what?” Xixi didn’t understand.

“Confirm that the girl here is indeed your sister.”

“She’s my sister. She took the invitation from me before she left. Have you seen her?”

“Yeah. She just arrived.”

“My sister is timid and won’t cause trouble for you. Don’t worry, Sister Mian.”

“I’m not worrying about that.”

“What are you worrying about?” Xixi felt Huo Mian had something on her mind.

“Nothing. That’s all.”

Huo Mian didn’t say the doubts on her mind; it wasn’t that she didn’t trust Xixi, but that if she was mistaken, it would be embarrassing.

“I’ve confirmed. She’s Nie Lingxuan. At least… Xixi said her sister took the invitation and returned here.”

Qin Chu nodded but didn’t speak.

Su Yu didn’t know how to respond to Nie Lingxuan’s warm greeting.

“Yeah. Long time no see.”

Su Yu extended out his hand, thinking she meant to shake hands with him.

But she ignored his hand.

It was quite rude. After all, however famous she was, she still worked for Su Yu. This scene was captured by many reporters.

Su Yu looked embarrassed.

Zeng Rou sneered. She had heard Huo Mian’s words and knew this girl was indeed Nie Lingxuan.

“Su Yu, you deserve it…” Zeng Rou felt pleased.

At this moment, Han Yueyao walked up and took Su Yu’s arm with a chuckle.

“Su Yu, is she the superstar your company promoted? She looks quite pretty.”

Nie Lingxuan glanced at Han Yueyao coldly.

“President Su, you have a new woman… That’s fast of you. It seems you’re collecting women as if you’re collecting stamps.”

Su Yu was surprised by the naked barb. He watched Nie Lingxuan closely and found she had become a stranger.

“Yeah. With his status, President Su can have any woman he wants. There’s nothing unusual about it. Some media just like making up stories. Previously when President Su didn’t have girlfriends, they kept saying he was a gay; now that he’s got a girlfriend, they say he changes girlfriends faster than changing clothes. That’s a blatant double-standard. Don’t you think so, Miss Nie?”

Han Yueyao rebuffed Nie Lingxuan sharply.

At this moment, Su Yu was a bit grateful to Han Yueyao. As a new girl in the company, she had no background, no power, no fame, but she was fearless and ran to his rescue when he was in a difficult situation.

Su Yu found the girl was actually very nice, at least not as bad as he had thought.

“Whoa. You’re sharp-tongued. It seems President Su has always liked this type… the same type as Dr. Huo, right?”
