My Youth Began With Him

“Ying, who told you that?” Ye Zhaoyang looked alarmed.

“Don’t ask me who told me that. Anyway, are you the Mr. Ye that Sister Mian mentioned when she talked to Huo Yanyan?”

“I told you I’m not. How many times do you want me to repeat it?”

“Can you swear on it?”

“Ying, you’ve known me for a long time. Don’t you know my character?”

“I truly don’t know your character. Ye Zhaoyang, can you make an oath that you have nothing to do with Huo Yanyan and that if you lie about it, your whole family will die?”

Wei Ying was furious. She wasn’t stupid and knew Huo Mian never made up stories; she’d never accuse the Ye Family in public without solid evidence.

Wei Ying had considered the issue carefully. After all, few people would help Huo Yanyan without a purpose. In the city, there were only a few big families with the surname of Ye. The senior members had mostly retired and none of them were rumored to have anything to do with Huo Yanyan.

But she had heard someone mention that Ye Zhaoyang was seen with a young woman; although she didn’t know if that woman was Huo Yanyan or not, Ye Zhaoyang had the motive to get Huo Yanyan out. After all, everyone knew Huo Yanyan would mess with Shen Mingxi when she got out.

As a rival for Wei Ying’s affection, Ye Zhaoyang had wanted to deal with Shen Mingxi long ago; in fact, he had done so in business deals.

“Ying, even if I’m not your boyfriend, we’re friends. How can you make me make such an oath?”

“I just ask if you dare to make it?”

“I…” Ye Zhaoyang didn’t dare to swear on the lives of his whole family.

“What? You look guilty…”

“I’m not guilty. It’s useless doubting me. You’d better go and rescue your Mingxi. I heard he’s on the brink of bankruptcy.”

Not wanting to make the oath, Ye Zhaoyang changed the subject to Shen Mingxi.

Shen Mingxi looked up in surprise and then walked over to them. “I’m sorry but you’ll be disappointed. I just borrowed 5 billion from a friend and won’t go broke.”

“You… you eavesdropped on us? What does it say about your character?”

Embarrassed that Shen Mingxi heard his words, Ye Zhaoyang was furious.

“I didn’t eavesdrop on your conversation. I came here and stopped when I saw you were talking.”

Wei Ying looked at Shen Mingxi with complicated feelings inside; biting on her lip, she didn’t speak.

To tell the truth, she felt confused and torn and didn’t know what to do.

“Hehe. Fine. I’ll leave you guys to catch up.”

Ye Zhaoyang took the excuse and fled, afraid Wei Ying would continue asking him about Huo Yanyan.

He was furious at Huo Yanyan for causing such a big scene; Huo Mian even guessed his involvement; he thought it was time to give a lesson to the little bitch Huo Yanyan so the latter would know who her master was.

After Ye Zhaoyang was gone, Wei Ying glanced at Shen Mingxi with a cool face.

“Your company is struggling. Why didn’t you tell me?”

“It’s business for men.”

“What? You think women are inferior to men?” Wei Ying was piqued.

“No. I just don’t want to drag you into this mess. You’ve done a lot for me, Ying, and I don’t want to give you more burden.”

“Look at you. You didn’t even shave and look so disheveled… I’ve never seen you in this state… The business of the Shen Family has been around for 100 years and can’t go down; it’s Grandpa Shen’s last wish. Shen Mingxi, pull yourself up.”

“Don’t worry. I won’t let the Shen Family go down.” Shen Mingxi forced out a smile.

Wei Ying felt a twitch in her heart as if someone stung it with a needle.

She opened her purse, took out a black diamond card, and handed it to Shen Mingxi.

“What’s… this?” He was surprised.
