Algorithm system

Accept being a seniorThe next day, Lin Yuan was woken up by Xia Ye.

”I don’t have school today, let me sleep a little longer.” Good Group thoughtfully gave him a week-long vacation to adjust his mood. Dean Li also allowed Lin Yuan to temporarily not attend classes. So, Lin Yuan naturally planned to sleep in.

”Officer Zhang has come to see you.”

”Ignore her, I set her messages to ’do not disturb’.” Lin Yuan thought Zhang Yan had sent him another message.

”She’s in the living room.”

”What?” Lin Yuan’s eyes snapped open.

”She’s in the living room. She said she has something to discuss with you and asked me to check if you were awake.”

”Are you serious?”

”Why would I joke with you about something like this?” Xia Ye said, then called out loudly, ”Officer Zhang, are you there?”

Subsequently, Zhang Yan’s voice came from the living room, very clearly, ”Is Lin Yuan awake?”

”He’s awake! Please wait a moment and have a seat.” Xia Ye responded warmly, then turned to Lin Yuan, ”Hurry up, she must have something important if she’s come to the house.”

Lin Yuan calmed himself down.

Then he picked up his phone, which had a string of messages from Zhang Yan. The general gist was: if Lin Yuan didn’t reply, she would come to his house.

And because Lin Yuan was asleep and didn’t reply, she really did come to his house.

’What a tiger.’ Lin Yuan could only complain inwardly.

Soon, he came out of the bathroom after washing up.

Then he sat down opposite Zhang Yan.

Today, Zhang Yan was dressed in casual clothes; anyone who didn’t know might have thought she was just an ordinary girl next door.

”What do you want?” Lin Yuan asked ungraciously.

Xia Ye immediately pushed him, ”Officer Zhang is very nice, you should speak properly.”

Lin Yuan was helpless. The reason Xia Ye thought Zhang Yan was nice was because he had specifically asked Zhang Yan to look after Xia Ye.

Zhang Yan smiled at Xia Ye, ”Actually, there’s nothing major today. It’s just that there are still some procedural formalities that require the person involved to cooperate. Xia Ye, would it be convenient for Lin Yuan and me to talk alone?”

”Of course it’s convenient! Have you eaten? You haven’t, right? Then I’ll go out and eat breakfast first. How long do you think you’ll be? When you’re done, have Lin Yuan text me, and I’ll bring breakfast back for you two.”

Then Xia Ye left the house.

Lin Yuan looked at her speechlessly, ”What on earth are you trying to pull?”

Zhang Yan slapped a file bag onto the table and then specifically added, ”You don’t have cameras installed in your house, do you?”

”No.”

”That’s good, then it doesn’t violate confidentiality regulations.”

”Good my foot. Do you think Xia Ye knows my identity?” Lin Yuan was naturally referring to his identity in the covert operations line of work.

”Of course she doesn’t know! Otherwise, why would we have kept you locked up for several days? Wasn’t it for confidentiality?”

”You know about confidentiality? Then what is this? Last night, you chatted extensively about cases on my phone, and today you barged directly into my house. You’re trying to expose me faster, aren’t you?”

”I... I even specifically changed into casual clothes. Oh, and didn’t I just make an excuse earlier, saying I was here to finalize the previous case with you?”

”Comrade, you’ve at least received professional training, haven’t you? You’re not involved in covert operations; you’re a public figure, and surely many people recognize you. What’s the point of changing into casual clothes? Today, there’s a reason for you to be here, but don’t do this again next time.”

”Then what should I do next time I need to find you?”

Lin Yuan really wanted to retort, ’It’s best if you never come looking for me.’

But that was clearly impossible. He was now on the ’pirate ship’ of the big boss, having gained benefits, but also having to bear the trouble of being unable to back down.

”Let’s talk about future matters later. Tell me, why are you looking for me?”

Zhang Yan pointed to the file bag on the table, ”There’s a case here involving a major potential public opinion issue online that I need your help to analyze.”

Lin Yuan glanced at the file bag; ’Confidentiality Level: AA’ was clearly written on it.

”Why are you looking for me? Am I allowed to see this?”

”I’ve confirmed with my master. Not only did he say you could see it, but he also recommended I seek your help, saying he’d already informed your mentor.”

Lin Yuan, with suspicion, dialed his mentor’s number.

After confirming, it turned out this matter was indeed true. His mentor had originally planned to let him rest for a couple of days after he got out before telling him, but Zhang Yan had rushed over in such a hurry.

”Then I’ll read it, okay?”

”Go ahead and read it.”

Lin Yuan picked up the file bag, uncoiling the string, and asked, ”Why do you specifically need to find me?”

”My master said you should understand this matter best.”

Lin Yuan pulled the case file from the bag, and as soon as he opened the first page, he immediately understood.

Because the case file clearly stated that the relevant unit and industry for this public opinion issue were: Zijin City, Haotuan Waimai platform.

Lin Yuan frowned. Although he hadn’t read the file in detail, he instinctively guessed something.

”Is it because of the recent turmoil caused by Haotuan Waimai’s algorithm iteration?”

”How did you know? Senior, you guessed it without even looking at the file, that’s amazing! No wonder my master told me to come to you.”

Lin Yuan chuckled, ”Amazing my foot. Your master must have learned from my mentor that the Haotuan Waimai algorithm causing trouble this time was developed by me. That’s why he told you to come to me.”

”Ah?” Zhang Yan’s mouth dropped open.

”Why are you surprised again?”

”Senior can also write code?”

”Are you kidding me?” If Lin Yuan didn’t understand this simpleton, he would have been extremely angry.

You ask a programmer, ’You can actually write code?’ What kind of question is that? Would you dare ask a famous chef, ’You can actually cook?’ Or ask an old professor, ’You’ve actually published papers?’

”I’m a computer science major. Do you think I can write code?”

”Senior is indeed Senior. So professionally undercover. Your algorithm can cause such a big stir, so you must be much more powerful than many programmers.”

”Alright.” Lin Yuan was completely resigned to her imagination.

”All your admiration for me actually stems from a misunderstanding. It’s because you insist on imagining me as your colleague that this misunderstanding arose.”

Lin Yuan genuinely no longer intended to pretend to anyone; he was incredibly frank at this moment. If he couldn’t be honest with Xia Ye about his secret identity, he would have wanted to just say it outright.

However, if he really told Xia Ye, it would be openly offending Director Wang and Dean Li, and his mentor would definitely be very disappointed in him. Therefore, Lin Yuan could only give up on the idea.

But for Zhang Yan, Lin Yuan truly didn’t plan to hide anything.

”But my master said you are an outstanding talent among your peers and told me to learn more from you.”

’Damn.’ The problem circled back to the beginning.

Even if Zhang Yan didn’t believe him, because of Director Wang’s endorsement, Zhang Yan couldn’t help but believe him. As for why Director Wang would endorse Lin Yuan, it was because Director Wang wanted Lin Yuan to help him with fishing, of course.

’That’s not right either.’ Lin Yuan suddenly thought, ’Maybe Director Wang also took my identity seriously. It’s possible that old Li Youcai fabricated an identity for me.’

Who knew? Anyway, the big bosses had assigned Lin Yuan an identity, and he could only passively accept it.

As for why they had to fabricate an identity, Lin Yuan guessed it was because working in such a covert line of operations without an identity would be very troublesome when cooperating.

Lin Yuan thought, he would have to ask his mentor another day. No, what was his relationship with his mentor? Why wait for another day?

”Wait for me, I’ll make a call.”

After a brief phone call, Lin Yuan finally confirmed: his mentor and Li Youcai had indeed preset an identity for him and had originally planned to discuss it in detail after he rested for a couple of days. However, Zhang Yan, that young girl, had rushed over in a hurry.

From then on, Lin Yuan formally accepted his role as ”Senior” in Zhang Yan’s eyes.
