Brother, you are so steady. When Lin Yuan saw Zhang Yan again, her expression was very complicated.

Through the iron bars, Lin Yuan couldn’t discern the meaning of the expression on her face. Was it sorrow or joy? Anger or grief?

Zhang Yan just pursed her lips and blinked her eyes.

The air was quiet for a while, and Lin Yuan couldn’t stand the silence anymore, so he tried to ask, ”Are you going to interrogate me again?”

”No, not at all. I’m really sorry, Senior Brother.”

Lin Yuan was confused by Zhang Yan’s sincere ’Senior Brother.’ When did he become her Senior Brother? ”You also graduated from our university?”

Now it was Zhang Yan’s turn to be puzzled, ”What university?”

”Zijin Aeronautics and Astronautics University, of course. Didn’t you just call me Senior Brother?”

”Huh?” Zhang Yan looked at Lin Yuan blankly, which made Lin Yuan look blankly back at her.

A moment later, Zhang Yan seemed to remember something important.

”Um, uh, suspect Lin Yuan, we are now going to conduct a further interrogation. You are suspected of participating in online fraud, and we are now officially transferring you to the Cyber Police Unit.”

”Huh?” Lin Yuan was already confused, and now he was even more bewildered.

”Wait, when did I become an online fraudster?”

Zhang Yan just winked at him twice.

Although Lin Yuan didn’t understand the meaning of this gesture, he instinctively suppressed his curiosity.

So, Lin Yuan was treated as an online fraud suspect, taken to complete various procedures, and finally led by Zhang Yan into a police car.

The driver was the old police officer named Old Mo from last night, Zhang Yan sat in the passenger seat, and Lin Yuan was in the back, separated by iron bars.

As the car drove, Zhang Yan in the front row suddenly turned her head and smiled, ”Senior Brother, there’s no one else here now, we can speak freely. Why didn’t you say so earlier? You made me look so foolish, even Old Mo fell into the trap.”

Cough, cough~~, Old Mo, as the driver, could only cough to cover his embarrassment upon hearing this.

As an old police officer who had been in the profession for many years, he had just suddenly received news that they had arrested one of their own comrades last night. And they had interrogated this insider all night, even handcuffing him for several hours.

The most crucial thing was that the suspect they had been tracking and monitoring for over three months was actually one of their own.

For those engaged in investigation, this kind of blunder leading to a joke would last a lifetime. In the long years to come, someone would occasionally remind him of this glorious past—a certain old comrade, who had watched a young man for three months, and in the end, not only had his planted bug (hidden pinhole camera) found, but was also played for a fool all night.

Old Mo admired the young man in the back from the bottom of his heart. Last night, he had spent half the night with that kid, writing down the two accomplices the kid had confessed in the case file. It turned out these two accomplices were old acquaintances of the director, and it seemed they were even from the National Security system.

That kid seemed to have deliberately played a joke on him—confessing his superiors as accomplices, but he just didn’t see through it.

No wonder that kid seemed both good and evil last night. He racked his brains, smoked half a pack of cigarettes, and imagined countless possibilities, but he just didn’t think this kid would be one of their own.

Heh, and this kid even explicitly said it—he was one of their own.

Old Mo sighed, he was over fifty, and he could still encounter a young man who could pull a ’light under the lamp’ trick on him. He really hadn’t thought this kid would be one of their own.

Because he had been in the force for a long time, Old Mo generally understood what characteristics people from various systems usually had. For example, with National Security, if you talked enough, they would always reveal some traces of their personal training, after all, this kid was only 24, who would think of him as a cunning old fox?

But reality played a big joke.

Although the director didn’t say this kid was from the National Security system, Old Mo guessed it was probably very close.

Old Mo also didn’t know whether this kid was mature for his age, or if he was trained under a completely different, extremely secret training system. Because he couldn’t see any trace of training on him.

But even though he was incredibly curious, Old Mo, out of years of professional ethics and disciplinary training, would not ask questions like Zhang Yan. What’s more, he had been outsmarted by a young man, so he had no face to speak up.

Zhang Yan, with curious eyes, looked at Lin Yuan expectantly, ”Senior Brother, Old Mo is also within the classified scope, it’s fine, you can speak freely.”

Lin Yuan’s head was buzzing at this moment, ’Are you looking at a suspect with such a star-struck gaze?’

”I’m from the Computer Science Department, what department are you from? A national defense sponsored student?”

”Oh, Senior Brother, stop acting. Old Mo and I have been scolded to death by my master.”

”I’m not acting. Aren’t you from Zijin Aviation School?”

”I’m not.”

”Then why did you call me Senior Brother?”

”I’ve read your file. You’re a few months older than me, and you’re clearly more capable than me. So in our line of work, of course, I’d call you Senior Brother.”

”Our? What line?”

Zhang Yan pointed to her and Old Mo’s armbands, ”This line, of course.”

Lin Yuan looked at the shining emblem on her dark blue uniform, then he raised his hands, ”Are we in the same line of work? Are you two planning to become bandits?”

At this moment, Lin Yuan’s wrists were still adorned with a pair of silver handcuffs.

”Oh, how could I forget?” Zhang Yan pulled Lin Yuan’s hands towards her, then fumbled for a key from her waist, ”I’m sorry, Senior Brother. We had to make the act complete when we came out, so it was a bit too realistic. I forgot to take them off.”

Lin Yuan rubbed his wrists. Regarding the other party’s sudden change, he could only think of one reason—his two masters had intervened.

”Did my mentor, uh, did he come to see you?”

”Are you talking about your master? Oh, don’t even mention it. Your master is so old, why does he still love to bully a rookie like me?”

”He, uh, how did he bully you?”

So Zhang Yan recounted her encounter in the director’s office in detail. Old Mo, who was driving beside them, even laughed, ”If you had just waited for me, you wouldn’t have made such a fool of yourself.”

Zhang Yan said aggrievedly, ”It’s not because you were busy with materials last night, I guessed you didn’t get much sleep, so I was taking care of an old comrade.”

Then she turned to Lin Yuan, ”Senior Brother, you too. Why did you tease me this morning?”

Lin Yuan was very innocent, ”I didn’t tease you.”

”You clearly told me, ’Those two might just get on a plane and run away,’ and in my haste, I quickly wrote a list and went to get my master to sign it.”

Lin Yuan didn’t know what to say, because when he was bantering with her, he indeed had a mischievous mindset—he actually wanted to see what kind of scene it would be if this guy ran off and arrested his mentor and Dean Li.

But obviously, those two old men didn’t give this little girl that chance.

At this point, Lin Yuan roughly understood why the other party called him Senior Brother. It seemed she considered him one of their own in the team.

And the key to this realization must be—the mentor. So the question arises, who exactly are the mentor and Dean Li?

Lin Yuan simply didn’t clarify himself, to avoid making things more confusing.

Old Mo and Zhang Yan would never have imagined that they admired Lin Yuan for his youth and lack of any training traces, but the truth was: Lin Yuan was truly an untrained layman.

”Where are we going?” Lin Yuan didn’t want to get tangled up in this topic, so he proactively changed the subject.
