Algorithm system

Lin Yuan’s persistence”Teacher, I still have a question.” Lin Yuan’s confused gaze was replaced by a new spark of confusion in his eyes.

”Oh? I was just about to ask you something, but you’re not giving me any chance, are you?”

”Teacher, you want to ask me?”

”You go ahead and ask your question first.”

”Teacher. Dean Li wants to remove the ’Deputy’ from his title to become the true Dean, and I see Director Wang seems to have the same consideration. Hmm, I’m not saying what they’re doing is bad, I just want to ask, what about you, why are you doing this?”

”Me?” Professor Zhang stared blankly at Lin Yuan, ”Ah, this is a question that makes me want to smoke.”

Professor Zhang then took out a cigarette pack from his pocket, no longer bothering with the current setting.

After a few puffs of smoke, he slowly began, ”As the saying goes, ’near home, emotions are timid.’ When a wanderer returns home after many years, the closer he gets, the more complex his feelings become, fearing that the people and things in his hometown have changed beyond recognition.

Seeing you now, so young, I can’t help but think of myself when I was young. I often ask myself, ’How much of my youthful passion is left?’

When I look back, I often feel that ’near home, emotions are timid.’ I’m afraid I won’t recognize the person I was when I was young.”

Professor Zhang’s answer carried the weight of years, ”Why do I bother with this matter? It’s because the younger me would definitely think this matter should be done. Doing such things doesn’t require considering personal honor or disgrace.”

Professor Zhang took a few deep drags from his cigarette, then stomped out the butt.

”Alright, no more sentimentality.

For intelligent people, lecturing is the most useless thing. You have your own ears and eyes; see for yourself, and grasp it yourself.

I try my best to be a good teacher, but your future is still for you to decide.”

Perhaps having seen too much, Professor Zhang no longer had the energy to preach grand principles. Even the phrase ”teach by example” was expressed so subtly.

”Teacher, I understand, in the future I will...”

”Stop,” Professor Zhang interrupted Lin Yuan, ”Don’t say you understand. You can understand how to write a piece of code, and you can understand the basic principles of an algorithm. But I, as your teacher, have lived most of my life and still don’t understand many things. Don’t casually say ’understand.’

If you can treat Li Youcai and the others as the baseline for your conduct in the future, I will already be satisfied.”

Lin Yuan saw that his mentor’s expression was serious, clearly not joking. ”Okay, I understand. Teacher, you had a question for me earlier?”

”The question isn’t urgent yet.”

”Ah?”

”It’s rare for you to have such comprehension. You haven’t received any training, and no one gave you a heads-up. It’s rare that you remained calm after being brought in, especially after being transferred here, you didn’t panic at all, as if you had already accepted yourself as a suspect in an online scam.

You must have guessed a little about our subsequent arrangements, right?”

Lin Yuan no longer held back, ”Teacher, you want to cover up the reason I was brought in, treat me as an innocent person who was implicated in an online scam, and then pin the blame on Song Xiaoxiao?”

”Oh, so that girl is called Song Xiaoxiao. But her name doesn’t matter.”

”Teacher, did I guess correctly?”

Professor Zhang merely nodded approvingly.

Lin Yuan had only analyzed it simply before. To allow him to continue phishing OCR, there must be a reasonable explanation for why he was brought in. If he were inexplicably released in the end, it would obviously create a whole bunch of new bugs.

Therefore, after Lin Yuan arrived here, people would seriously interrogate him. Because even people within the team seemed to know little about his background.

So, if that’s the case, for what reason should Lin Yuan be released?

The simplest way now would be to confirm Song Xiaoxiao’s online scam, and then Lin Yuan would naturally become an innocent person who was implicated.

”Teacher, although I don’t have much of a relationship with that girl. But this time, it’s clear that I implicated her, not the other way around. If we do this, won’t it be too unkind?”

Professor Zhang said coldly, ”I’ve also read that girl’s file. She has already confessed that what she did had nothing to do with you; on the contrary, you advised her many times, but she stubbornly went her own way.”

”Did she really say that herself?”

”Yes. She can be considered a girl who dares to take responsibility. Alas, it’s a pity, she ultimately went astray.”

Lin Yuan felt even more uneasy now.

”What? You can’t bear to see others suffer because of you?” Professor Zhang saw through Lin Yuan’s complex state of mind at that moment.

”Teacher, what will happen to her?”

”Hard to say... but the time she spends inside will definitely not be short. Because that girl’s problem isn’t just online scamming; she has a large number of unexplained transfer records with various people. You understand what I mean, right?”

How could Lin Yuan not understand, ”I don’t think she’s innocent, nor do I think what she did was right. But there are too many people like her around right now, why does it have to be her who goes in? And because of me. Teacher, my conscience is uneasy.”

”Alas, that’s why I said that I’ve lived most of my life and still don’t understand many things. Isn’t that how many things in this world are? Everyone knows they’re happening, but once they’re brought to light, they must be dealt with.

You are a kind child, I understand your pain.

But this is helpless.”

But Lin Yuan clearly didn’t want to accept this helplessness, ”Teacher, what if I pay for a lawyer for her?”

”Must you be so stubborn?” Professor Zhang asked seriously.

”If Song Xiaoxiao were a scoundrel, it would be fine. If she weren’t so good to my girlfriend, it would be fine. But the problem is I know she’s not a complete scoundrel, and she’s very good to my girlfriend. I’ll just consider it losing money to end this unfortunate connection between my girlfriend and her. After this matter, if she still doesn’t repent, then let her fend for herself.”

Professor Zhang nodded slightly upon hearing this, ”Clear distinction between right and wrong, decisive and unrestrained. To my liking. Alright then, I’ll introduce you to a few lawyers. Anyway, for you now, spending a little money is a small matter.” Professor Zhang knew Lin Yuan’s annual salary at Good Group.

”Oh, and I’ll have someone explain things to Good Group for you later. Don’t let this interlude affect your work.”

”Thank you, Teacher.” In fact, Lin Yuan didn’t need to explain to Good Group at all. He knew very well that even if he did end up with a criminal record, Good Group wouldn’t kick him out. Because Good Group hadn’t replicated his food delivery algorithm yet.

”Next, you still have to stay here for two days. The procedures still need to be followed. Just consider it a two-day vacation for yourself. You don’t have to worry about the school; Li Youcai will take care of it for you.

Also, in your future interactions with Li Youcai, try to downplay that you actively took out that camera. You should portray this matter as: even if this incident hadn’t happened, you would have already been targeted, and it would have come to light sooner or later.

I’m not saying Li Youcai will resent you; he probably wouldn’t go that far. But it’s always better to be safe.”

Lin Yuan listened to his mentor’s earnest advice, and a warm current naturally flowed through him, ”Thank you for teaching me, Teacher.”

”It’s getting late, we’ll talk about other things after you get out. I’ll be leaving now. It’s cold; if you’re cold, just ask them for a quilt.”

”Teacher, didn’t you still have a question for me?”

”I already know the answer.”

”What is it?”

”Your relationship with those two girls. You just said it yourself, one is your girlfriend, and the other is your girlfriend’s good friend.”

”That’s all you wanted to ask me?”

”I originally wanted to wait until you got out to talk. That girl named Xia Ye, how much do you know about her?”

Lin Yuan said with certainty, ”I know her very well, we plan to get married at the end of the year.”

”Nonsense.” Professor Zhang, who had intended to leave, now had no intention of leaving at all.
