Algorithm system

The disciple is the one who knows me”Teacher, I was wrong.”

Professor Zhang’s face was kind, and he was about to speak, but unexpectedly, Lin Yuan suddenly blurted out that sentence.

”You... you must have been scared, child.”

”No. Teacher, there’s something I’ve kept from you.”

”What is it?” Professor Zhang’s expression changed, ”You didn’t hide anything about OCR, did you? This is no joke; it’s a violation of discipline.”

”I didn’t do that.”

”That’s good.” Professor Zhang breathed a sigh of relief, ”In the secret front, it’s forbidden to withhold information. That’s a huge taboo.”

”Teacher, I... I became Dean Li’s disciple a couple of days ago.”

”Oh?” Professor Zhang chuckled, ”Did he force you?”

”Not exactly forced. I had something to ask him. Because my algorithm caused problems with Good Group on the surface, but Good Group still gave me the best quarterly evaluation. I was puzzled, so I went to ask him.”

”Then I understand. He took the opportunity to take you as his disciple, and you found it hard to refuse. And you were afraid I’d have an opinion if I found out?”

”Yes.”

”Then why are you willing to tell me now?”

”I think Dean Li is too scary.”

”Haha... at least you’re honest.” Professor Zhang laughed heartily, ”Don’t worry. Although your teacher has a bad temper, he also knows that you are still young, and your path is still long. He won’t force you to be heartless.

As for Li Youcai, you can also rest assured, he’s not a bad person. At most, he’s keen on fame and official career, but he’s not someone without a bottom line.”

After hearing his mentor say this, Lin Yuan felt much more at ease. ”What about the other person then?”

”Old Wang?” Professor Zhang said nonchalantly, ”Isn’t it all because of you?”

Lin Yuan looked curious, ”Because of me?”

”Old Wang comes from a legitimate political and legal background, while Li Youcai and I come from the university education system. Back then, we collaborated on some work in the foreign affairs field. So, we’re old acquaintances. When you caused that incident with the admission letter last time, I naturally thought of asking an old friend for help.

But it’s also a coincidence that the person who caught you happened to be a young man under his name.”

Lin Yuan finally understood, ”So you came prepared to bail me out back then.”

”Nonsense. Otherwise, could I have taken you away on the spot with just my old face?”

”Then I have a question.” Lin Yuan looked puzzled.

”Just ask, everything that needs to be turned off in this room has been turned off.”

”I was brought in this time because Director Wang’s subordinates have been watching me. The person watching me even knew I was involved with an overseas NGO, which was a key factor in them considering me a potential dangerous element. But I just saw Director Wang’s expression, and he seemed unaware of this.”

After witnessing the twists and turns of these old guys, Lin Yuan always felt they seemed elusive, like clouds and mist.

”Hey~~, don’t just guess wildly. Old Wang was quite honest just now; as a deputy director of a district, it’s impossible for him to know every single thing below him inside and out. And regarding the incident you committed last time, you accidentally got involved in a major case of fake document manufacturing, so it’s completely normal for them to follow you according to procedure.

As a leader, he couldn’t violate internal procedures because of his friendship with me and let his subordinates go easy on you.

As for your involvement with overseas NGOs, there are too many such things, it’s long been nothing new. It wouldn’t stand out in a pile of case files.

Instead, you, kid, how did you discover the ’nail’ they planted this time?”

Professor Zhang looked at Lin Yuan with a kind expression, ”You always manage to surprise me. I asked, and the person who planted the ’nail’ on this mission was an old hand.”

Lin Yuan once again faced the situation of having to cover up for his cheat, although this time the cheat wasn’t intentional on his part; it was entirely the idiotic system acting up.

This was the biggest annoyance for a cheater.

”I just relied on intuition, feeling like there were always eyes watching me.” Lin Yuan didn’t have time to think carefully and could only rely on a stream of consciousness to make things up, ”I suddenly noticed there seemed to be an extra tissue box nearby. At that moment, I don’t know how, but a thought suddenly sparked. Maybe it’s because ever since I baited OCR, I’ve always been worried that a secret agent or something would suddenly appear around me.

I suddenly thought, KFC always gives out napkins with every order. You don’t even have to ask; the server always includes a few napkins on the tray.

Normally, if you want napkins at KFC, don’t you usually go to the counter and ask the server? So why would there be an extra tissue box out of nowhere?

Driven by curiosity, I walked over, and when I looked, I found a camera. I even thought it was placed by some perverted peeping tom.”

”Hahaha~~~” Professor Zhang burst into laughter, ”I understand. It seems you didn’t recognize their disguise at all; you just found it strange that there was an extra tissue box, and it seemed too conspicuous.”

”Yes. That’s what I meant.” Lin Yuan quickly went along with it.

”That’s right. The one who planted the ’nail’ was an old hand, probably doesn’t go to KFC often and doesn’t know what you’re talking about. It seems I need to talk to Old Wang; from now on, for these kinds of things, we should let the young people handle them.”

Lin Yuan’s impromptu strong improvisation finally seemed to have glossed things over.

”It’s just that your unintentional action this time has really caused Old Li a lot of trouble. He originally wanted to wait until the time was right before letting relevant parties intervene. But now his dream of being a lone hero is shattered.”

”Ah? What should I do then? Dean Li won’t resent me, will he?”

”That’s not likely; I was just teasing you.”

Lin Yuan was startled by his mentor’s words; as a small fry, he couldn’t handle such teasing.

”In my opinion, the current situation is actually not bad. I had long wanted to bring in brother units to help, but I’ve always been constrained by my years of friendship with Li Youcai; it wouldn’t be good to forcefully disregard his feelings, otherwise, he would really fall out with me.

Now it’s good; you accidentally exposed the matter. A young man pulled out a ’nail’ planted by an old hand, which had to draw the attention of Director Wang’s side. I then subtly prompted Old Wang privately, and Li Youcai had no choice but to make a sacrifice when he couldn’t keep up the charade.

Director Wang’s side is legitimate after all; with him joining in, we can properly plan and see how big the fish is under the water this time.

Otherwise, according to Li Youcai’s selfishness, even if there was a big fish, it might have gotten away.”

Lin Yuan suddenly understood, ”Teacher, I understand. Your painstaking efforts were all for the sake of bringing the fish up. So, you don’t mind having more people share the catch and pull the rod together. And with more people pulling the rod, the fish is less likely to get away.”

Professor Zhang had a very pleased expression; he kept pointing at Lin Yuan with his finger, ”You, you... I didn’t take you in for nothing; you finally understand me.

Lin Yuan, you need to listen more and observe more.

It’s not easy to accomplish something.

Not only are there external difficulties, but you also have to think about how to unite internally.”

”Teacher, I understand. We can’t expect Dean Li to show his spirit through simple preaching; we can only guide him according to the situation.”

”That’s right. But you are truly my lucky general; I was originally having a headache trying to persuade Li Youcai, but you just happened to give me a ladder.”

At this point, Lin Yuan truly felt what ”the complexity of the world” meant.
