Algorithm system

The clouds and fog have clearedLin Yuan quickly found the dynamic and the comment according to the URL provided by the system.

This was naturally due to the university’s internal network being able to access external networks. This was incomparable to other places; even accessing websites like GitHub at Hao Tuan Company was not as smooth as accessing them from the campus network.

Lin Yuan carefully examined this comment. It had no replies or likes, just like most comments under popular discussions online, sinking without a trace.

But since it was singled out by the system, there was naturally a reason.

Lin Yuan returned his attention to the system panel. According to the logical chain provided by the system, this comment was linked to a webpage.

Lin Yuan quickly entered the URL prompted by the system into the browser’s address bar.

The webpage’s suffix was HK, and Lin Yuan already vaguely sensed something. Because the system had just prompted that the OCR organization had a branch office in HK.

Since HK’s network is directly connected to the international network, although geographically it is part of the mainland, it is separated from the mainland in terms of network. Therefore, this webpage loaded slowly, and the browser took more than ten seconds to finally display the entire webpage.

What met Lin Yuan’s eyes were a large number of pictures, no wonder it loaded so slowly just now.

The people in the pictures were dressed in various costumes: there were wizards, clowns, and headless horsemen. The surrounding scene was decorated with many jack-o’-lanterns. Lin Yuan finally realized that this seemed to be a Halloween-related event.

Upon closer inspection, the title of this webpage also confirmed Lin Yuan’s guess - Halloween Celebration. This was indeed a Halloween celebration.

The content of the webpage was mixed with English and traditional Chinese, giving Lin Yuan a feeling that was somewhat familiar, yet also somewhat distant and unfamiliar. Just like the men and women in the pictures, they had faces of the same race as his own, but they exuded a sense of strangeness, as if they were not from the same place.

Lin Yuan continued to trace the source of this webpage. He found that it belonged to a personal blog.

Lin Yuan had taken the time to understand the history of IT development in China over the past few decades. Nearly 20 years ago, blogs were very popular for a while.

In an era when Weibo had not yet appeared and smartphones were not yet widespread, people accessed the internet through computers. It was an era when bandwidth was precious, and blogs became the first choice for people to share their lives online. The public also got their first close contact with celebrity idols through blogs.

However, with the popularization of smartphones, the wave of mobile internet swept in. Like many internet products, blogs had a lifespan of only a few years before being swept into the dustbin of history.

Currently, only a few nostalgic old-fashioned people still write blogs, treating them as small vegetable patches in front of their homes. Just like self-cultivation, they don’t care about others’ opinions but focus on pleasing themselves.

These people can generally only do this on a few remaining blog websites, because a large number of blog websites have closed down due to unsustainable operations.

However, among these people, there are occasionally some unconventional ones who choose to build their own personal blog websites. It’s like personally cultivating a unique area for themselves on a barren mountain.

Building a personal blog requires some IT knowledge, as well as additional expenses for server rental annual fees and the effort to manage and maintain the system themselves.

This is naturally not worth the effort, and the only gain is spiritual satisfaction - because this blog belongs exclusively to me, inside and out. From the domain name to every single character.

The group capable and willing to do such a thing. Nine out of ten are programmers who are both bored and a bit chuunibyou.

After Lin Yuan carefully browsed this personal blog, he was very sure that it was built by an IT professional himself. And that webpage was one page from his personal life records: according to the content of this page, last Halloween, this person and his friends participated in a Halloween event.

Lin Yuan was not very concerned about the details of this Halloween event. Lin Yuan keenly noticed that this person had put the codes of the event participants, who were his good friends, below a group photo.

Generally, people are not brain-dead enough to leak personal information online.

Lin Yuan guessed that it was mostly because of Halloween that these people took on codes. Such as: Mysterious Masked Man, Halloween Nightmare... What caught Lin Yuan’s attention was a nickname called ”Bloody $ong1024”.

Because when the system prompted that comment, it specifically highlighted the nickname of the comment owner. That nickname was exactly: Bloody $ong1024.

So, according to the system’s meaning.

The owner of that comment and ”Bloody $ong1024” in this blog post are the same person. Because their nicknames are identical.

It wasn’t that Lin Yuan hadn’t considered the possibility of coincidental nicknames. However, the nickname used the ”$” symbol, and the ”$” symbol is similar to ”S”, so that guy is most likely surnamed Song. Few people would think of using this kind of symbol as a substitute.

And this guy must also be an IT professional, otherwise, he wouldn’t have mentioned using computing equipment. And the number 1024 has a special meaning for IT personnel because it is 2 to the power of 10. The computer world is a binary world, and 1024 is a perfect number in the eyes of programmers.

So, all of this combined, it’s not a coincidence.

Lin Yuan quickly turned this personal blog upside down, but he didn’t find anything related to OCR.

After much deliberation, Lin Yuan could only turn to the system for help.

[System, help me!]

[Requires an additional computing power consumption: 10P.]

[You’re a black-hearted fortune teller, huh? You’re charging again to interpret the divination.]

It wasn’t that Lin Yuan couldn’t afford 10P computing power, but his stubbornness kicked in, and he refused to believe in evil. He had just used his ultimate skill when his mana was empty, and now asking one more question still cost money. He had to refuse, even if it was the system.

After much head-scratching, Lin Yuan suddenly had a moment of epiphany, like looking back to find the lights dimly lit.

He quickly extracted the root domain name of this webpage and then searched for the domain holder using a domain ownership retrieval tool.

Just by using HK’s free whois service, Lin Yuan found the owner of this domain name.

And the owner of this domain name was precisely OCR’s branch office in HK.

Lin Yuan excitedly jumped onto the chair, because all the logical chains were connected.

Just now, Lin Yuan was thinking habitually.

He subconsciously assumed that the domain name used by a personal blog must have been applied for by the individual himself. But perhaps the owner of this blog was not from HK, and applying for an HK domain name might not have been very convenient, so he used a domain name under OCR’s name.

And through a blog post about the blog owner’s Halloween party last year, it can be confirmed that he has a friend whose nickname is ”Bloody $ong1024”. And the account on Facebook that commented about applying for OCR’s computing power resources also has the nickname ”Bloody $ong1024”.

Connecting the entire chain, it can be determined that: OCR offers free applications for computing power resources to the outside world, and will give resource users a certain quota of free-to-use computing power (that comment said so).

In a time when computing power is money, providing large computing power resources to the outside world for free is already a very incredible thing. Lin Yuan doesn’t think those non-profit NGO organizations would truly be so benevolent.

And for users who use their computing power resources for free, they will also give a certain quota of free-to-use computing power.

How should this be understood?
