I just want to give him a chanceTeacher Liu was very enthusiastic and insisted on escorting Lin Yuan downstairs.

If he didn’t have to go back to continue being an examiner, Teacher Liu would have wished he could escort Lin Yuan all the way to the school gate.

This made Lin Yuan feel very flattered.

Compared to his previous job-seeking experiences, today’s encounter made him feel as if he had stepped into another world. This was his first ’showdown’ since he obtained the System.

A year ago, when he graduated from university, Lin Yuan racked his brains trying to think of countless ways to change his fate, but in the end, he couldn’t escape fate’s arrangements.

Coming from a rural area in a small, ordinary city, from an ordinary family, with ordinary academic qualifications, and ordinary understanding. All these ordinary aspects added up to a mundane life already visible in his early 20s.

In fact, Lin Yuan didn’t have much struggle or unwillingness towards mediocrity in his heart; he wasn’t the kind of Liu Bang who, upon seeing Qin Shi Huang’s imperial carriage, thought, ’A true man should be like this.’ However, life was like countless fine needles, pricking him from time to time.

Even when buying a cup of milk tea or ordering a delivery meal, he had to carefully calculate all the discounts and promotions.

This stinging sensation permeated his every aspect of life, from clothing to food, housing, and transportation.

He didn’t dare to think about his future, because that would fill him with deep despair.

An old home he couldn’t return to and a city where he couldn’t put down roots—this was perhaps the greatest sorrow for Lin Yuan’s generation of ’country bumpkins’ who had seen the world.

During his four years in university, Lin Yuan wasn’t oblivious to these issues, but the campus walls shielded him from the outside world’s clamor.

It wasn’t until the moment of graduation that Lin Yuan blindly walked onto the stage and received his diploma from the principal, whom he still didn’t recognize after four years. After taking a group photo, his university life came to an end.

The graduation dinner was like ’The Last Supper’; no amount of alcohol could dilute the fear of the future.

Finally, the walls were gone.

Lin Yuan was harshly thrown to the ground.

Only two paths lay before him: surrender or resist.

He had, of course, considered surrendering.

What would happen after surrendering? Become a security guard directly, saving thirty years of detours?

But in the end, he was still unwilling, and fortunately, he had finally succeeded now.

If Lin Yuan were to summarize his minor achievements at this stage, he would definitely come to one conclusion: Diligence can compensate for clumsiness.

This was a principle his teachers had taught him since he was young.

Alas, it’s also the teachers’ fault for not telling the whole story. They omitted a premise: After getting a cheat, diligence can compensate for clumsiness.

Ever since he had the System’s guidance, Lin Yuan found that he wasn’t as fool as he had imagined.

The current facts were the best example.

The Computing Power System merely taught Lin Yuan how to learn and then provided some computational enhancements.

The System didn’t provide anything like ’click to get,’ ’intelligence boost,’ or similar features—at least not yet.

In other words, at least for now, this Computing Power System hasn’t displayed ’the prestige a system should have.’ Because most of the abilities it has provided so far can be obtained in current society.

For study guidance, one can find famous teachers, and computational enhancement only requires machines. Even if the System’s computing power efficiency is higher, in reality, as long as there is enough money, one can completely brute force it—if one graphics card isn’t enough, then use two; if two aren’t enough, use ten.

So, if calculated, this Computing Power System has only provided Lin Yuan with one thing so far—money.

It’s just that the money wasn’t provided in the form of money.

At this moment, Lin Yuan was naturally happy.

Although there was still a dazzling Good Group Delivery insulated box on the back of his electric scooter, he would soon join the handsome men and beautiful women inside.

But this happiness was not just because he had successfully enrolled, but because he was able to re-evaluate himself through this enrollment—I, Lin Yuan, am actually not much worse than them.

This confidence of truly seeing others as equals was far more important than the small achievement before him. He couldn’t help but begin to look forward to the days ahead.

But before he could think for too long, waves of dizziness enveloped his brain—the after-effects of using the Computing Power System came like dense ocean waves, one after another.

The operation of the Computing Power System was entirely at the cost of Lin Yuan’s mental energy.

Lin Yuan had no choice but to find a place to stop his electric scooter and rest.

He found a nearby step to sit on, propping his elbows on his knees and supporting his forehead with his palms.

Lin Yuan had experienced this debuff state many times and was long accustomed to it.

In a corner of the third-ranked university in Zijin City, an delivery rider sat on a step next to an electric scooter. Such a scene typically wouldn’t attract anyone’s attention.

”Master, are you okay?” But a sudden voice interrupted Lin Yuan’s rest.

Lin Yuan felt the voice was somewhat familiar. He slowly raised his head. The sunlight was a bit dazzling, and even more dazzling was the delicate face with hair fluttering in the sunlight.

”The infirmary is in that direction. Do you want to go see a doctor?” It was the girl who couldn’t find milk tea before the interview, now timidly pointing in a direction and speaking to Lin Yuan.

The girl didn’t get too close to Lin Yuan, her face showing a hint of instinctive wariness towards strangers. Yet, she still walked over to point out the infirmary’s direction to Lin Yuan, even though many people who had already passed by hadn’t done so.

Lin Yuan smiled at her, ”Thank you, student. No need, I’ll be fine after resting for a bit.”

Lin Yuan’s smile made the girl’s wariness lessen considerably, ”Well, okay then. This bottle of water hasn’t been opened yet, here you go.”

”No need, I already drank your milk tea earlier.” Lin Yuan politely ended their conversation with a look.

The girl smiled slightly, then turned and left.

”Xia Ye, you just said you had something to do, was it to go talk to that delivery guy?”

Xia Ye nodded slightly, ”I got my directions wrong and caused him to make an extra trip back. Now he’s tired and sitting there resting. I feel quite bad about it.”

”So you’re going to give him the water you bought for me to drink?”

”He didn’t take it, you drink it.”

”I don’t want it.”

”It hasn’t been opened.”

”Anyway, I just don’t want it.”

Xia Ye looked at her good friend Xiao Xiao with a hint of helplessness, ”Alright then, I’ll go buy you a new one now.”

”Xia Ye, you could just give him a few yuan as a tip. There’s no need to be like this. A few yuan is enough for him to make another delivery.”

”Alright, let’s not talk about this anymore. We still need to hurry and arrange the graduation performance.”

Inside the interview classroom.

The last interviewee walked out, and Professor Zhang finally took off his glasses and leaned back in his chair to rest.

”Ah, I’m getting old. Such a small workload is already too much.”

Dean Li also took off his gold-rimmed glasses, ”Xiao Liu, you all summarize the candidates’ scores and materials, then go ahead and get busy.”

Teacher Liu and the others wisely carried out several thick stacks of materials from the classroom, leaving the space to the two big figures.

”Old Zhang, tell me honestly. Was that child just now a relative of yours?”

Upon hearing this, Professor Zhang abruptly opened his eyes and sat up straight, ”Li Youcai, what do you mean? Have you gone stupid from being an official? Will you die if you don’t think in that direction?”

”If it’s true, then it’s nothing. I wasn’t trying to make things difficult for you just now. It’s just that in front of everyone, I had to... ah, that thing.”

”You had to maintain your sanctimonious facade.”

Dean Li wasn’t angry, ”My position as vice-dean isn’t easy to hold... Looking at your expression, that child just now probably has nothing to do with you. That makes sense; you, Old Zhang, have never liked to play these games. But I just can’t understand why.”

”Why what?” Professor Zhang retorted.

”Are you really going to force me to break the rules for this kid? You and I are both almost 60; any greater individuality should be reined in.”

Professor Zhang leaned back in his chair, ”When I saw him, it was like seeing us back then.”

”Oh? How so?”

”That child’s coding ability is good, but far from outstanding. But when I saw him holding that old laptop, with that timid yet stubborn look in his eyes, I just felt that I should give him this chance.”

”I just want to give him a chance!”
