It’s all misunderstanding“Master, why aren’t we moving?” Lin Yuan had just finished speaking.

Bang~~, his head was pressed against the car window.

“Don’t move, be honest.”

The person next to him was a woman, and her voice sounded very young. But the strength in her hands was great.

Lin Yuan’s hands were then tied behind his back by her.

“You, what do you want to do? I don’t have money, I’m going there to work. I really don’t have money.” Faced with the sudden change, Lin Yuan instantly sobered up. He subconsciously thought he had encountered a robbery.

He had only heard of this kind of situation online as something that happened in the 1980s and 90s, but he never expected it to happen to him in Zijin City in 2024.

Just because he had just come out of a high-end residential area, he was mistaken for a rich young master and kidnapped?

Click, Lin Yuan felt a chill on his wrist. This was... handcuffs?

“Old Mo, tell Master, I’ve caught the person, and I’m bringing him back to the bureau immediately.”

The driver, referred to as Old Mo, had already gotten out of the car and opened the car door on Lin Yuan’s side, pressing one hand firmly on Lin Yuan’s neck. Lin Yuan’s face was pressed against the back seat, unable to move.

“Who exactly are you? Are you police officers?”

The woman chuckled and hit Lin Yuan on the head, “Police officers? You’re quite the actor.”

In his panic, Lin Yuan blurted it out subconsciously, even calling out “police officers.”

“You’ve got the wrong person, I’m just a student. Why are you arresting me?”

“Shut up, save your strength to complain at the bureau.” Then a piece of tape was placed over his mouth.

——

Shortly after, in a brightly lit interrogation room, Lin Yuan sat in a place he never thought he would in his life—an iron chair.

One second he was drinking and having fun with a group of social elites, the next he was a prisoner. What the hell is going on?

“Comrade, what’s going on?” Lin Yuan raised his hands, and they clanged, “Why are you arresting me?”

The woman who arrested him had already changed into a uniform and said with a stern face, “You think about it carefully.”

Lin Yuan didn’t think much, “My family has been law-abiding for generations, and we’ve never been to a place like this.”

The woman picked up a stack of papers and slapped them onto the armrest in front of Lin Yuan.

Lin Yuan looked down. The papers seemed to be some identification materials, including ID cards, driver’s licenses, marriage certificates, and all kinds of certificates.

“Why am I looking at this?”

“Heh~~, you’re really good at acting. Then let’s just waste time like this, we have plenty of time.”

Lin Yuan suspiciously continued to flip through the stack of papers. Suddenly, he found the admission letter he had personally forged, and his big headshot was prominently displayed on it.

Lin Yuan immediately felt more wronged than Dou E, ‘Damn it, I clearly tore up that admission letter, damn it, what did I not use it for?’

He quickly realized that the owner of the photocopy shop must have saved the electronic version. Damn it, he had clearly asked him to delete it, and Lin Yuan immediately felt the wickedness of the world.

He had just been young and ignorant and done something foolish once, and after understanding the consequences, he quickly pulled back from the brink, but the tree desires tranquility yet the wind will not cease, and trouble still found him.

Fortunately, he hadn’t done anything, Lin Yuan was relieved at this moment, fortunately, he decisively tore up that letter that day.

“Remembered?”

“No.” Lin Yuan dared not admit it, “Can I call my school?”

Lin Yuan had been in contact with Senior Brother Liu and Professor Zhang during this period, and they also knew that he was tutoring recently. The only straw Lin Yuan could think of at this time was Professor Zhang. As for his parents, telling them would only add to the chaos and certainly wouldn’t help.

“Don’t play tricks, what school do you have? We’ve already checked, you graduated last year.”

“I graduated, but I just got into Zijin Aviation School as a graduate student.” Lin Yuan said with a sincere face.

The woman obviously didn’t believe it, “You, a scumbag from Tangcheng Institute of Technology, spent a year and got into Zijin Aviation School. Then I’m a graduate of Tsinghua and Peking University.”

Lin Yuan didn’t know how to explain, then he thought for a moment, “Can you lend me your notebook?”

“We’ve checked your academic information online.”

“Then have you checked the postgraduate entrance examination results for my year?”

The woman was a bit surprised and didn’t answer immediately. A senior police officer next to her slowly asked, “Have you checked?”

The woman responded softly, “Why would he participate in the postgraduate entrance examination?”

“Then you haven’t checked, hurry up and check.”

Three minutes later, the woman froze.

The old police officer next to her shook his head slightly and sighed, “Still so impatient.”

The old police officer then said to Lin Yuan, “What’s your teacher’s phone number?”

“I don’t remember, you can check my phone.” Lin Yuan’s phone had already been confiscated.

More than two hours later.

Lin Yuan was finally uncuffed, and he saw Professor Zhang and Senior Brother Liu in the reception room.

Another old police officer with some gray hair was apologizing profusely to Professor Zhang with a look of apology, “I’m really sorry, I’m truly sorry. It was our work mistake. Please don’t take it to heart!”

The woman who arrested Lin Yuan was standing beside the old police officer with her head lowered.

“Our new young colleague is too young and a bit reckless in her work. I’m sorry, truly sorry. I’ll send someone to take you back.”

The woman, however, was still a bit unconvinced, “The chain of evidence clearly pointed to him…”

“Shut up. Lin Student is a graduate student at Zijin Aviation School, how could that be possible? Hurry up and apologize.”

The woman finally stubbornly apologized to Lin Yuan.

But Lin Yuan was still completely bewildered, not knowing what had happened.

On the way back, Senior Brother Liu was driving, and Professor Zhang politely declined the police car escort.

“Lin, I’ve been so busy lately, I haven’t had time to meet with you again. I didn’t expect our next meeting to be like this. You’re truly unique.”

Lin Yuan was very embarrassed, “Professor, Senior Brother. What exactly happened?”

“According to their explanation, a new young colleague was reckless and mistaken you for a criminal. It seems they said they caught someone making fake documents, and then traced it back to you. After careful investigation, they found it was a misunderstanding.”

Senior Brother Liu laughed, “How would investigating fake documents involve Lin Student? I think that young lady just graduated.”

“I’m not sure. Due to confidentiality, they didn’t go into specific details. Senior Brother Liu, you can give Lin the admission letter now.”

Lin Yuan felt uneasy, forcing himself not to tremble, and took the real admission letter.

Lin Yuan was both scared and relieved at this moment. Fortunately, he hadn’t left any chat records or transfer records.

But it was just because he had suffered enough from delivering food, in order to get the admission letter earlier, and then get a tutoring job. It actually caused so much trouble. And this was even after he had already pulled back from the brink.

After saying goodbye to Professor Zhang and Senior Brother Liu, Lin Yuan returned to his rented room. The first thing he did was delete all traces of that admission letter from his computer.

Lin Yuan didn’t understand how he had managed to create a Hong Kong film-like scenario.

Looking at the empty recycle bin, he suddenly remembered something—damn it, there were still call records that couldn’t be deleted.

Oh well, forget it. Just say it was for finding someone to print study materials, just stick to that, anyway, no one can produce substantial evidence. Even if that shop owner stood in front of him, there would only be human testimony, no physical evidence.

At worst, it was just forging an admission letter, and besides, the real letter was already in hand. The chain of evidence couldn’t be closed, just deny it to the death.

Lin Yuan, for self-protection, did not intend to admit what happened before, because he was not clear what kind of trouble he would face after admitting it. The unknown was the most terrifying.

——

Inside the police station on the other end.

“Master, I did make a mistake. I didn’t consider that a graduate student who hasn’t officially enrolled wouldn’t have academic records, so I thought that admission letter was forged, and I didn’t think to check his written exam scores. But the call records can’t be wrong, and the photo and name on that admission letter are his.”

“Stop talking. You might have already alerted the enemy. What can call records prove? Is this your first day on the job? We need to talk about the chain of evidence.”

“But that electronic version of the Zijin Aviation School admission letter is even more real than the real one; the technical department analyzed it carefully, and it’s a pixel-level perfect replica. This might be our breakthrough.”

“But now he is genuinely a graduate student at Zijin Aviation School, and what use would it be for him to forge an admission letter? This is very complicated. Alas, you are still too impatient. Let’s wait and see. If he really is a fox, he will show his tail sooner or later.”
