Algorithm system

The decent Lin YuanLin Yuan chose Liu Huzi’s area as a testing ground for two reasons.

First, because Liu Huzi’s area had a large number of orders, the amount of delivery riders data collected would also be large. As data-driven AI model training, the more data, the better (provided there is enough computing power).

Second, it was naturally because Lin Yuan disliked Liu Huzi, so it was a good opportunity to make an example of him.

As long as the algorithm proves effective in the future, after submitting it to Hao Tuan Company, the River West area under Liu Huzi’s jurisdiction—as the testing ground for the algorithm’s formation and the source of training data—will naturally enter the sight of Good Group’s senior management.

At that time, no matter what connections Liu Huzi had, under the attention of Good Group’s senior management, even if his scandals were not exposed, the management cost optimization brought by the algorithm would be the first to hit him.

The original intention of the route and delivery algorithm was to optimize costs in the delivery riders management process. As a manifestation of management costs, the role of station master would naturally be considered for reduced weight. The number of station masters would decrease, and the responsibilities required would also decrease, accompanied by the station master’s sense of existence becoming weaker and weaker, until eventually disappearing or being replaced by other roles.

At this moment, Lin Yuan had a smile on his face, while Liu Huzi had a hint of mockery on his.

Lin Yuan smiled because a sword hung over the other’s head, and the person in front of him was still unaware, looking smug.

Liu Huzi smiled, thinking, ’What’s the point of studying for a broken graduate degree if you’ll just end up delivering food?’

”What kind of cooperation do you have to discuss with your Brother Liu?” As he spoke, Liu Huzi plopped down onto the sofa where he had just taken a nap, picking up the can of cola that had woken him up.

”I want to ask for your help promoting some software.”

”Software promotion?” Liu Huzi thought for a moment, then slapped his head. ”Oh, Brother Liu forgot! I thought you majored in food delivery in college. What’s up, finally going back to your old profession?”

Lin Yuan detected the mockery in his words but didn’t take it to heart.

”I took on a social survey task from school to track the daily work of delivery delivery riderss. I need to install a small software on their phones. Brother Liu has a lot of people under him, so I came to you.”

Liu Huzi was very proud. ”That’s right, Brother Liu has about a hundred people under him who rely on me for their livelihood.”

Lin Yuan chuckled softly, thinking to himself, ’You’re clearly sucking their blood.’

”The school’s budget isn’t much, so I’d appreciate Brother Liu’s help. It’s one yuan per delivery riders per day. All they have to do is install the software, and then they don’t have to do anything else. It’s very simple. It will last for about half a month. Just consider it treating the brothers to a cup of milk tea.

Whatever the delivery riderss get, Brother Liu will also receive an equal management fee.

How about it?”

When Liu Huzi heard this, he couldn’t help but put down his crossed legs and lean forward. ”What do you mean, one yuan a day? How much money can you give me in total?”

Lin Yuan patiently explained, ”As long as the delivery riders installs the software and doesn’t uninstall it, and the backend detects continuous data uploads, then they don’t have to do anything else daily and will get one yuan a day. It will last for fifteen days in total. It’s not much money, just enough for a cup of milk tea.

Whatever the delivery riderss get, Brother Liu will get the same amount in management fees.

If one delivery riders gets one yuan, Brother Liu also gets one yuan. If two delivery riderss get one yuan, Brother Liu gets two yuan.”

Liu Huzi quickly picked up the calculator on the table.

Reset.

1 multiplied by 100 equals 100, 100 plus 100 equals 200, 200 multiplied by 15 equals 3000.

”You’ll give me 3000 in total?” Liu Huzi asked after putting down the calculator.

”It’s 1500; the remaining 1500 is for the delivery riderss.”

”Ahem, yes, yes, yes, that’s what I meant.”

Liu Huzi subtly hid his embarrassment. ”Really, nothing else to do, just install the software. Right?”

”That’s right.”

”Is your software risky?”

”If there’s any risk, I’ll bear it,” Lin Yuan replied cheerfully.

”That’s true. I’m just helping you complete that... what was it... school survey.”

”Social survey.”

”Yes, yes, yes, I’ll consider it contributing to society. So, are you... WeChat or Alipay?”

As expected of Liu Huzi, his first thought was always about the payment method.

”Uh, Brother Liu, the school needs daily approval. Payments are based on the online data from the backend. For every person online, payment is made for that person.”

”That’s too much trouble. Just pay me all at once, and you can rest assured leaving this to me.”

”The school has its own approval system.”

”Alright then. But it’s also troublesome for you to transfer money to each delivery riders individually. Just give me all the money, and I’ll include it in their monthly salaries.”

Lin Yuan had long anticipated his plan. Although he explicitly said one yuan for the delivery riders and one yuan for Liu Huzi, Lin Yuan knew that the money would never reach the delivery riderss’ hands.

As long as Liu Huzi gave the word, the delivery riderss would not refuse to install this small software.

”Then I’ll thank Brother Liu in advance. I’ve already sent you the installation package for that small software on WeChat.”

”Look at you, talking like that. What’s our relationship? Come to me again for things like this in the future.”

Lin Yuan didn’t stay long; spending another second with someone like Liu Huzi was a waste of life.

3000 yuan was not a large sum for Liu Huzi; he scraped off several 3000 yuan amounts from the delivery riderss every month, and that didn’t even include the money he received from Good Group.

But Lin Yuan was certain that he would take the bait.

Just looking at the paid charging stations and the two fully stocked vending machines in the rest stop, one could tell that Liu Huzi was good at generating income. How could he let go of such a no-cost, free-money business?

Once the small software was installed, it would automatically report each delivery riders’s travel trajectory to the cloud server daily.

Lin Yuan only needed to continuously load this data into the computing power system, and then it would consume computing power to let the system run its training.

If all went well, the first draft of the algorithm would be ready in ten days to half a month.

Then, it would be tested, and if there were no problems, it would be submitted to the technology department here at Good Group Purple Gold. After that, if nothing unexpected happened, he would be able to continue this part-time job. This way, he could have an income while pursuing his graduate studies.

The purpose of installing that small software on the delivery riderss’ phones was to obtain their travel trajectories. Lin Yuan had considered directly having the computing power system infiltrate the delivery riderss’ phone cameras, as that’s what he did when acquiring merchant information.

However, there were two obstacles.

First, the computing power system currently still adheres to the laws of reality and science.

Infiltrating merchant surveillance cameras could be done unnoticed, but infiltrating phone cameras was different. Lin Yuan believed the system had the ability to find underlying vulnerabilities in Android and iOS systems to gain permission to activate the camera in the background.

But the characteristics of the hardware could not be changed, because keeping the camera on all the time consumed too much power.

As long as the system still followed scientific laws, even if the infiltration was successful, it still couldn’t change the physical characteristic of the camera consuming power.

And there was another problem—data usage.

Merchant surveillance cameras were either wired or Wi-Fi. In this day and age, indoor broadband bandwidth is very cheap, and compressed video data doesn’t require much bandwidth; even a 2M slow connection can handle it. In this era of ubiquitous hundred-megabit and gigabit fiber optics, it can be done completely unnoticed.

But mobile broadband for phones is different. Transmitting video data all day long would easily consume several gigabytes of data, which would be very difficult not to attract attention.

Therefore, Lin Yuan chose to write a small software after careful consideration.

This was the first obstacle. The second obstacle was: currently, this system appears to be a very proper system, and Lin Yuan did not believe the system would allow him to infiltrate people’s phone cameras when there were other options.

Moreover, Lin Yuan didn’t want to test the system again; he still wanted to appear upright in front of the system.
