Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

Xia Hong pondered for a long time and finally thought of the Yi Blade, one of the four systems of Tang knives.

As the name suggests, the Yi Blade, due to its length and delicacy, initially symbolized solemnity and grandeur, and for a long time was used as a ceremonial implement for royal or important occasions, with little practical combat use.

However, during the Ming dynasty, a famous general combined the Yi Blade with the Long Spear, devising a method suitable for battlefield duels and flag captures, giving the Yi Blade practical combat value, reinvigorating this weapon.

The Yi Blade is best suited for charging into formations, opposing many foes with few, and due to its long blade, it has a wide attack range, making it highly effective against speed-type enemies.

To deal with Cold Beasts like the rodent creatures, which have long tails, swift speed, and large swarms, the Yi Blade is the perfect weapon.

These are not merely Xia Hong’s speculations.

At this moment, Xia Hong is proving with his actions just how powerful the Yi Blade is against rodents.

As time slowly passes, under the influence of the Teng Jiao Poison Mist, the rodents become more affected, their speed slows, and their reactions dull.

Xia Hong’s Yi Blade is nearly invincible, slicing through the path he takes; every rodent encountered, even if its body isn’t split open, at least loses a segment of its tail, and the worst cases have their heads directly sliced off.

Even some that luckily survive under Xia Hong’s Yi Blade can’t escape the ensuing rain of arrows.

Xia Hong charged forward, and in less than ten minutes, it is estimated that each person in the trees fired four to five rounds, adding five or six dozen more rodent corpses to the ground.

Including the first wave, at least sixty to seventy rodents have died, more than a hundred are critically injured, nearly a quarter of the entire rodent swarm.

“I refuse to believe you vile beasts aren’t afraid of being killed!”

The intent was to expel them, but if there’s really a chance to wipe them out, Xia Hong wouldn’t easily let it pass.

Thinking to himself, he saw the rodent swarm still not retreating, his face turning fiercer, and he shouted back to the people behind him:

“Keep pressing forward, if they don’t run, slaughter them all!”

Xia Hong lunged forward even harder, and the others surrounding the four big trees, upon hearing his shout, also advanced again, launching a new round of attacks.

The Yi Blade gleamed coldly, the Iron Arrows a storm of sudden gusts.

On the entire north slope of the mountain wall, there were only two sounds: the squeaking of rodents and the whistling of Iron Arrows.

Moreover, it was clear that the former sound was diminishing.

“Burrow into the ground, dream on!”

After slicing off another rodent’s long tail, Xia Hong’s peripheral vision suddenly caught a glimpse of the flank, finding three to four rodents gnawing frantically at the ground with their teeth, attempting to burrow, and he immediately charged towards them.

Whiz…

whiz…

whiz…

Under the influence of the Teng Jiao Poison Mist, the rodents’ burrowing speed was significantly slower, just as Xia Hong rushed over, three Iron Arrows flew from behind, piercing directly into the mouths of those rodents.

The strong penetration of the Iron Arrows directly went through their heads, protruding a significant portion at the back.

“Leader, they’re retreating, the rodent swarm is retreating!”

Xia Hong, who was already engaged at close range with the front-line rodents, couldn’t notice the situation behind him.

On hearing Zhao Long’s joyous shout, he quickly paused and raised his head to gaze into the distance, a smile spread across his face.

Indeed, quite a few rodents began fleeing westward, and the rest also started to follow suit.

They are truly frightened!

“Slow down, give them time to retreat!”

After several rounds of attack, without even needing to look, Xia Hong knew everyone’s arrows were likely down to about ten, and as the rodents began to retreat, the hit rate of supplementary shots would definitely not be high, so he immediately ordered the group to slow down.

Meanwhile, a massive group of rodents coming down from the western mountain wall, thinking they could escape to Redwood Ridge, hadn’t even entered when two Iron Arrows, identical to those from the north slope, poisoned bags in tow, shot over.

The lead two rodents were nailed by the Iron Arrows, the poison sacs burst, and the dwindling white mist refilled again.

“Kill!”

Xia Chuan’s cold and sharp voice resounded.

The waiting forty-eight people, who had long been unable to hold back, drew bows and nocked arrows, unleashing another gale-like rain of arrows upon the rodents that had just fled down in panic.

“Everyone continue shooting, don’t let them come back, push them south, don’t leave them any paths.”

The disorderly panicking rodent swarm, just as they twisted their heads trying to return to the top of the mountain wall, Xia Hong’s cold voice echoed from the top of the slope.

Accompanying his voice were several dozen Iron Arrows breaking through the air.

The western Redwood Ridge blocked, the eastern mountain wall sealed.

And Xia Hong was leading everyone southward to close them in.

The demise of the rodent swarm seemed imminent.

Of course, they still had one way out, the north.

“I want to see, will these vile creatures run or not!”

Xia Hong glanced around at everyone, especially checking the arrow quivers on everyone’s backs, noticing that most still had seven or eight arrows left, his heart stirred slightly with a daring thought emerging in his mind.

But looking at the remaining rodent swarm numbers, still about two-thirds left, he immediately dismissed the thought that just arose in his mind.

“Xia Chuan, Luo Yuan, continue to speed up, leave them all here!”

Xia Hong shouted to the people on the western side, then gave the same order to those behind him, and once again charged fiercely towards the rodents below.

The exceptionally long Yi Blade wielded its might again, mirroring the situation on the north slope, Xia Hong plowed through as if into an uninhabited territory, continuously compressing the eastern outermost rodents inward, slaying six or seven in no time.

The outermost rodents kept retreating inward, obviously scared.

Yet, witnessing this situation, Xia Hong’s hand was powerful, but his heart began to sink even more, and his face subtly showed some anxiety.

“Are these beasts not frightened?

They still won’t flee!”

Whether the rodents were scared, Xia Hong didn’t know.

But he truly began to panic!

Because he clearly felt, the arrows shot from behind him were becoming fewer.

Zhao Long’s group was about to run out of arrows.

Of course, Xia Chuan and Luo Yuan’s group still had quite a few arrows left.

But the favorable situation now was achieved through a two-pronged attack.

Once the rodent swarm realized there were no arrows on the eastern side, the consequences wouldn’t be favorable.

Without bows and arrows, engaging in close combat in the Logging Realm with rodents, even if weakened by the Teng Jiao Poison Mist, it would be a dead end!

“Still not running!”

Gritting his teeth, Xia Hong forged ahead, killing a few more rodents, then continued to charge forward.

Until he nearly charged ten meters deep into the rodent swarm, he finally saw from afar.

The rodents on the northernmost side were finally starting to retreat.

“Phew…”
