Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

When making the bow mold, if the curve of the bow body isn’t controlled well, it can’t cooperate with the bowstring to release enough tension.

Such a bow will severely affect range and attack power, making it unusable and only fit for remelting and remaking.

The tightness of the bowstring installation is especially important.

If installed too tightly, it could break easily with any external force; if too loose, it cannot work with the bow body to release sufficient pull.

The latter is fine, as it can be readjusted.

But if the former breaks, the two-meter Teng Jiao Spine would be wasted.

When Xia Chuan and the other two first started participating in making bow molds, they had to remelt quite a few times; Mu Dong was the same, losing two Teng Jiao Spines in the process.

Fortunately, with increasing experience in bow-making, their mistakes have become fewer and fewer.

In the past few days, they have achieved a 100% success rate.

With Mu Dong attaching the bowstring and confirming there were no issues after testing, the third longbow Xia Hong forged that night was completely formed.

At the same time, in another area, Xia Chuan and his team also completed their bow mold, handing it over to the people at the Craftsmen Workshop.

Once Mu Dong had attached all three bowstrings and successfully tested them, Xia Hong finally exhaled, telling everyone, “The iron ore is almost used up; let’s all take a break for now and save up iron ore for a couple of days before proceeding.”

Everyone visibly relaxed a bit.

For ten consecutive days, not only were Xia Hong and the seven Earth-digging Realm members working non-stop, but Mu Dong and the Craftsmen Workshop team were also working almost continuously at night.

Saving up iron ore for two days means they can rest for two days, which naturally lifted their spirits.

Of course, those who could relax did not include Xia Chuan, Luo Yuan, and Zhao Long.

The Earth-digging Realm members still needed to continue mining in the caves; collecting iron ore was their primary task.

Though exhausting, Xia Chuan and the other two showed no signs of fatigue or boredom, instead remaining enthusiastic and driven.

Firstly, with Xia Hong leading by example, working faster and producing more than them, they dared not complain;

Secondly, the bow-making was not just for the campsite but also for their own safety against the rodent swarms;

Thirdly, crafting each Iron Core Bow themselves gave them a strong sense of accomplishment.

It’s important to know that in the Redwood Ridge area camps, only eleven Iron Core Bows were made over several decades.

Yet, in the past ten days, under Xia Hong’s leadership, they managed to forge thirty-six.

With progress accelerating, the goal of a hundred Iron Core Bows was within reach.

This sense of achievement isn’t something that can be easily described in a few words.

Once over a hundred Iron Core Bows are crafted, the strength of the Great Xia Camp will undoubtedly ascend to a new level.

A hundred bows fired simultaneously is a thrilling sight, and even the rodent swarms on the northern slope of the mountain wall won’t be able to resist, especially with the Teng Jiao Poison pouches.

Seeing Mu Dong lead the group away to rest, Xia Hong also took Xia Chuan and the other two out of the Blacksmith Room, ready to head down to the mines.

But just as they reached the first floor, a commotion came from the doorway.

“Xu Ning, two hundred meters, hit on target!”

“Good!”

“Xu Ning, impressive.”

…

Curious, Xia Hong hurried out to find over a hundred people lined up in the valley, taking turns shooting arrows at targets set up in front of the wooden house.

After Xu Ning finished shooting, Shi Ping recorded his score on a wooden board, then another person took Xu Ning’s bow, aiming at the target.

This person’s skill wasn’t as good as Xu Ning’s; though they also hit the target, they chose the hundred-meter target and hit on target.

“Luo Kai, one hundred meters, ten hits.”

From a distance, Shi Ping walked out again, loudly announcing that person’s score before another took their turn to shoot.

…

“Is this a contest?”

Seeing the targets lined up ahead, ranging from fifty to two hundred meters, and combined with Shi Ping’s movements, Xia Hong immediately guessed.

Beside him, Xia Chuan, realizing Xia Hong wasn’t aware of the archery contest, quickly stepped forward to explain it to him.

Upon hearing this, Xia Hong’s eyes lit up.

“Not bad, this contest can help them quickly improve their archery skills!”

With contribution value rewards and the chance to show off in front of people, gaining both fame and fortune, it’s no wonder everyone was so enthusiastic about the contest.

“We could also organize a ranking for basic strength improvement, maybe monthly or on another schedule, divided between the Logging Realm and Earth-digging Realm tiers, with the greatest improvement receiving certain contribution value rewards.”

Xia Hong immediately realized that this contest could extend into training and even more activities.

Xia Chuan, hearing this, also brightened up and quickly nodded.

“Understood, leader.

I’ll arrange it!”

In the Ice Abyss World, it’s only natural for everyone in the camp to be soldiers, with training as essential as eating and drinking.

Short weapons, archery, wilderness survival skills, and various hunting knowledge must be mastered by all.

Previously, the archery practice in the camp wasn’t as extensive as it is now due to the shortage of Iron Core Bows; there were only eleven in total.

When the Hunting Team went out, Xia Hong kept just one in the camp, not allowing many to practice.

Now, with the number of Iron Core Bows suddenly increased to forty-seven, while not enough for everyone to have one, it’s enough for over a hundred to take turns practicing.

People are naturally social creatures, and with everyone beginning to practice, competition and comparison are bound to arise.

Plus, with Xia Chuan’s ten-day contests, participants can stand out in front of the entire camp and gain contribution value rewards.
