Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

Several questions popped up in Xia Hong’s mind in quick succession, his expression constantly changing.

He swiftly interrupted his thoughts, and a sense of urgency filled his heart.

“Big brother, look over there!”

Before he could figure things out, Xia Chuan on the other side seemed to have seen something, his tone suddenly becoming extremely heavy, signaling Xia Hong to look quickly.

Xia Hong hurriedly turned his head, looking in the direction of Xia Chuan’s pointing finger.

Upon seeing it, his face immediately darkened to an extreme degree.

On one side of the mountain wall’s North Slope, exactly where Xia Chuan was pointing, there were unexpectedly forty to fifty rodents of various sizes.

That group of rodents was noticeably much smaller than others, with the largest one being half a meter in length, its fur sparsely covering its body, and its tail’s barb being very short; the smallest was only twenty to thirty centimeters long, and being so far away, it wasn’t very clear to see, only appearing flesh-colored, clustered together, exceptionally disgusting.

“These are rodent pups.

They’ve only been here for a little over a month, and they’ve already started breeding, and the number, so many at once…”

The total number of these rodents was about three to four hundred, and in just over a month, they produced forty to fifty more.

Looking at their size, they’re growing quite fast.

If they continue to breed like this, what will happen?

Luo Yuan’s words caused Xia Hong’s brows to furrow deeply, with even a trace of horror in his heart.

He knew the breeding ability of rodents.

“Let’s go; there’s no chance tonight.

We need to hunt the serpents and speed up the progress!”

Seeing no rodents alone, Xia Hong didn’t waste any more time.

After observing for a moment, he led Xia Chuan, Luo Yuan down the North Slope, then sought out Zhao Long and the others, quickly heading towards Redwood Ridge together.

The rodent swarm had moved over a hundred meters southward.

Moreover, they’ve started breeding!

This thought was the only one in Xia Hong’s mind.

The sense of urgency in his heart instantly soared to the extreme.

Originally, the achievement of crafting thirty-six iron core bows within ten days was somewhat satisfying, but after witnessing the rodent swarm tonight, it was instantly shattered.

Not fast enough, still not fast enough.

The efficiency of bow-making must be further improved.

If this rodent swarm is not dealt with quickly, if anything goes wrong, it will be them resolving the threat to the Great Xia Camp.

Xia Hong is not the only one who realized the severity of the situation.

Xia Chuan, Luo Yuan, and Zhao Long, along with the four others who learned of the situation, instantly became tense.

“Tonight, focus on finding, hunt as many as possible, and try to gather all the necessary spinal cords at once, then increase the speed of bow-making when back at the camp.

The situation is critical, and during this period, we must all minimize rest, crafting the bows as quickly as possible, and we need to act ahead of time.”

“Yes, leader!”

The six who understood the seriousness of the situation quickly nodded in agreement, their expressions matching Xia Hong’s seriousness and solemnity.

The most difficult part about dealing with Teng Jiao is its toxic mist, as one can only endure for half an hour after covering with a wet cloth, so the hunting time must be controlled within half an hour, and even less if possible to allow sufficient escape time.

The time used must be very short; that is the only challenge.

After Xia Hong discovered that Teng Jiao saliva could alleviate the toxic mist, hunting Teng Jiao with the seven of them working together posed no difficulty.

Xia Hong led the six of them in a frenzied search within the range of a kilometer, consecutively hunting three Teng Jiao, estimating they could acquire over a hundred spinal cords, yet he was not satisfied and chose to continue searching with the six.

“We also need to leave enough time for mining.

We probably won’t have time to hunt Teng Jiao later, so let’s finish it once and for all, find one more, kill it, and return.”

None of the six objected and continued searching with Xia Hong.

Quickly, two hours later, another Teng Jiao fell with a crash.

Xia Hong and the seven of them had perfectly completed their task for the night.

“Four Teng Jiao, based on their body length, and at least more than 130 meters of spinal cords, the bowstring materials are already sufficient, and the next task is to fully focus on mining and bow-making.”

Upon hearing Xia Hong’s words, the six who fought all night instantly breathed a sigh of relief.

“Alright, pack it up, go back to the previous location, bring the bodies of those three Teng Jiao too, and head back.”

Xia Hong motioned for the six to pack up the prey while he began carefully searching on the tree where Teng Jiao just occupied.

Soon, Xia Hong found a mass of saliva in the middle part of the tree.

He packed all the saliva with a leather bag, weighed it, and Xia Hong’s face immediately showed a smile.

“Not bad, lucky enough, it’s over ten pounds.”

The previous three, plus tonight’s four, Xia Hong had already hunted seven Teng Jiao in total, and he had gotten the hang of the pattern of Teng Jiao saliva production.

Although saliva is a secretion of Teng Jiao, its body would have no more than ten pounds at most, Xia Hong speculated that after reaching a certain quantity, Teng Jiao would spit it out, and it might evaporate quickly after being spit out.

Whether there is Teng Jiao saliva on the tree depends on luck; accurately speaking, it’s about whether the hunted Teng Jiao had secreted recently.

The luck tonight was decent; among the four Teng Jiao hunted, two were found to have saliva on the trees they occupied, totaling an estimated thirty pounds.

Adding the ones inside the bodies of the four Teng Jiao, it should total around sixty pounds.

“Something’s here!”

After collecting the saliva, Xia Hong carefully searched the tree and unexpectedly made a new discovery at the top.

At the top of the tree, there was a fruit the size of a fist.

Moreover, the smell of the fruit was extremely similar to that of Teng Jiao saliva.

“That’s right; this tree doesn’t seem like a common species either.”

Xia Hong took out a small knife to cut through the outer cold crystal of the bark, and as expected, the bark was green.

“Vermilion Frost, Golden Chill, Iceful, Blue Jade, and with this one, there are already five types of trees discovered.

Cut a piece and bring it back to Cheng Feng, and have the Collection Team people pay attention.”

Exploring the tree species is supposedly the task of the Collection Team, but since they are all currently in the Logging Realm, they can’t venture deep inside and can only find some rare vegetation outside, resulting in little new discovery of tree species.

Having finally discovered another new tree species, Xia Hong naturally paid attention.

Of course, the fruit on the tree was the most important.

Xia Hong picked the fruit and put it into the leather bag.

Coming down, Xia Chuan and the others had already brought over the other three Teng Jiao prey.

“Alright, let’s head back!”

The seven of them quickly returned to the camp with four Teng Jiao.

Bringing back four Teng Jiao in one go, the shock among the camp members was imaginable.

But soon, after Xia Hong revealed the movements of the rodent swarm on the mountain wall’s North Slope, everyone immediately understood Xia Hong’s insane Teng Jiao hunting motive.

Having only the seven of them in the Earth-digging Realm feeling pressured is definitely not enough.

Dealing with the rodent swarm can’t solely rely on the seven of them; crafting so many bows is to let everyone in the camp at the Logging Realm contribute.

Since that’s the case, Xia Hong naturally wouldn’t hide it from them.

“During this period, we seven will speed up bow-making progress.

You can’t help with hunting serpents, mining, and bow-making, so just focus wholeheartedly on improving your archery skills.

Pay attention, there isn’t much time left.

Once there are enough bows and arrows, I will lead you to deal with the rodent swarm.

I’m warning you now, if you don’t practice hard now, you might risk your own lives if something goes wrong, understood?”

“Understood, leader!”

Hearing Xia Hong’s words, all of the over one hundred Logging Realm members responded solemnly and in unison.

“Alright, everyone get back to your tasks, Zhao Hu, Zhao Bao, Yuan Cheng, continue mining.

Xia Chuan and the others come with me to the Blacksmith Room for bow-making, and Mu Dong, stay on standby with the Craftsmen Workshop people.

In the coming days, everyone involved in bow-making will only get to rest in turns.

In short, people can rest, but bow-making cannot stop unless the mining progress can’t keep up, do you understand?”

“Understood, leader!”

Xia Chuan, Yuan Cheng, and the six others, including Mu Dong and the bow-making participants, all answered in unison as well.

Seeing everyone full of enthusiasm, Xia Hong nodded in satisfaction and without further ado, led the way to the second-floor Blacksmith Room.

Upon seeing this, the others went to mine, practice archery, or prepare for bow-making…

Everyone quickly got into the state of action.
