Forcing Me to Be a Godly Tycoon, Right?

Chapter 1378: Chapter 525:

”Which novel do you like the most?”

”...I can’t choose a favorite, but I really enjoy reading detective novels, like Agatha Christie’s ’And Then There Were None’ and ’Murder on the Orient Express’, and Conan Doyle’s ’Sherlock Holmes Collection’.”

”I also really like Gulong’s ’Lu Xiaofeng Series’.”

Zhang Jingdong nodded thoughtfully and continued to ask, ”Have you been to Japan?”

Tong Xin paused for a moment, then nodded, ”I have, I went with Mr. Yan before.”

”You went with Mr. Yan? What were you there for? Travel or business?”

”Travel.”

”What do you think of Japan?”

Tong Xin hesitated for a while, then replied, ”Before going, I specifically read ’Chrysanthemum and Sword’, and we stayed there for over a week. In the end, I fully understood why Japan kept denying the atrocities they committed during World War II.”

Zhang Jingdong put down his chopsticks, ”Tell me more.”

”I believe all this is because the Japanese live in a culture of shame rather than a culture of guilt.”

”To put it simply, in their social culture, people’s moral standards and codes of conduct are entirely dependent on others’ evaluations, not their own conscience.”

”So in their minds, there is no concept of right and wrong, only their dignity and face.”

”This makes them appear especially courteous and polite in interactions, while on the other hand, their character is extremely fierce, especially when it involves dignity and reputation, they will use their lives to maintain everything.”

”And the fundamental reason for all this, I think, is their inherent lack of confidence in their own country.”

”Because they actually know they are very weak and have a thin historical foundation, so they engage in state-level activities to forge historical artifacts.”

”And regarding inhuman acts like the Jinling Massacre, they also carry out state-level activities to directly edit textbooks.”

”However, according to many historical experiences, the more a country or a nation tries to maintain their face, the more it backfires in the end.”

”For example, Japan, and Korea, despite how they look down on Huaxia all these years, it’s actually because deep down they know they are not as good as us.”

Zhang Jingdong nodded spontaneously, ”Your perspective is quite fresh, and it sounds quite reasonable.”

At this point, Zhang Jingdong suddenly remembered something and thought to himself, maybe it’s time to find an opportunity to visit Japan.

To see what’s there, and also, oh not... to exchange with those Japanese teachers, let them understand just how amazing Huaxia men are.

Zhang Jingdong indulged in his imagination for a while, then continued, ”By the way, which university did you graduate from?”

”Yanjing Foreign Language University.”

”You actually graduated from Yanjing Foreign Language University, so why did you become Mr. Yan’s assistant?”

”It’s quite a coincidence. During my senior year, I went to a company in Yanjing for an internship, and Mr. Yan was in Yanjing negotiating cooperation with a foreign company.”

”She knew our boss, and that day, she called our boss saying she needed a translator, preferably a woman, and our boss finally sent me.”

”I performed relatively well at the time, so Mr. Yan asked if I would like to come to Jiangdu to work as her personal assistant.”

”I thought about it and felt it was a good opportunity, so I agreed, and I’ve been working here ever since.”

Zhang Jingdong suddenly understood, then immediately asked, ”What do you think of Mr. Yan? You have to be honest, okay? I promise, no matter what you say, I won’t tell her.”

Tong Xin hesitated for a moment, then said, ”In my heart, Mr. Yan is a very career-oriented person, and she is very smart, very tactful, decisive, and swift.”

”But at the same time, deep down, she is a very thoughtful person. She cares a lot about those around her, and she is very protective, she is a very good boss, and also a trustworthy confidante.”

”Before meeting her, I never knew what kind of person I should be, but after meeting her, I realized that I might never achieve her success, but I would try my best to be a person with her mindset and character.”

Zhang Jingdong spontaneously responded, ”Your evaluation of your boss is indeed high, especially the last sentence. She’s practically your idol in life now, huh?”

”...Yes.”

Zhang Jingdong nodded and then picked up his chopsticks again to continue enjoying his meal.

Tong Xin saw this and also picked up her chopsticks again.

After twenty minutes, the two finished their meal and left the restaurant.

Zhang Jingdong then said, ”How did you get here?”

”I drove.”

Zhang Jingdong casually put the car keys he just took out back into his pocket.

”Perfect, I drank at noon today and can’t drive. I won’t call the driver, I’ll just take your car.”

Tong Xin paused for a moment, then nodded, ”...Sure.”

Zhang Jingdong originally thought Tong Xin’s car might be average, but he didn’t expect she’d lead him to a white Bentley.

”Get in.”

Zhang Jingdong couldn’t help but ask curiously, ”Is this... your car? I don’t mean anything by it, just a bit curious.”
