But under the current circumstances, she found it difficult to refuse him.

And because she didn’t immediately refuse him, Zhang Jingdong very neatly got into the car.

Shu Ran regretted it as soon as it happened, but it was too late. She sighed and also got into the car.

At this moment, the distance between the two of them was even closer than it had been at the restaurant, and Shu Ran suddenly felt a strange nervousness, along with a touch of shyness.

Especially since the person next to her was leisurely admiring the car’s interior with a relaxed expression on his face.

Although Shu Ran’s car was a Land Rover Range Rover, showcasing her inherently wild side, the car’s interior was in pink tones, and there were even several Athena dolls hanging from the ceiling!

Shu Ran bit the corner of her mouth, silently thinking that if Zhang Jingdong dared to mock her, she would kick him out of the car.

But to her surprise, although Zhang Jingdong had a somewhat odd smile on his face, he didn’t say a word.

Shu Ran had no choice but to suppress her embarrassment, start the car, and hit the road.

Ten minutes later, Zhang Jingdong finally said, ”I thought only we men liked Athena. I didn’t expect a woman like you to be fond of Athena, too.”

Shu Ran pursed her lips: ”Seiya and the others are too violent, and... they’re too immature!”

”But if it wasn’t for them protecting Athena, she might have been captured by... by the bad guys long ago!”

Zhang Jingdong glanced at the steering wheel and continued, ”Don’t you like men who are skilled and can give you a sense of security?”

Shu Ran paused, then replied, ”I... I admire men with artistic talent more.”

”If a man has both artistic talent and excellent fighting skills, and can protect you, would you like him more or hate him because he’s too violent?”

Shu Ran didn’t understand why Zhang Jingdong was asking this and hesitated: ”I suppose the former, but in my mind, men with great artistic talent usually prefer tranquility.”

Zhang Jingdong, unfazed: ”Don’t you know that Bruce Lee was a dance competition champion before he became a martial arts master?”

”Really?” Shu Ran was genuinely surprised: ”I had no idea... I can’t believe he was that talented!”

Zhang Jingdong seized the moment: ”When I was a kid, besides watching Michael Jackson concert DVDs, I also really liked Bruce Lee’s movies. So not only did I learn Michael Jackson’s dance moves, but I also learned Bruce Lee’s kung fu.”

At this, Shu Ran turned to look at Zhang Jingdong. Seeing he did not seem to be joking, she believed him.

It was mainly because of his previous display of Michael Jackson’s dance moves, his badminton skills, and the close-up magic and Mind Reading Technique he performed for her in the restaurant. At this moment, she truly confirmed he was a genius when it came to learning physical movements.

Then she thought back to Zhang Jingdong’s question and suddenly realized that the man he referred to as ”having artistic talent, skilled, and able to protect you” was himself.

Her face instantly flushed red with embarrassment.

She hastily rolled down the car window, trying to change the atmosphere in the car, and also took a deep breath to calm her racing heart.

For the rest of the journey, neither of them spoke again.

To avoid awkwardness, Shu Ran turned on the car’s music station, and coincidentally, Wang Fei’s ”Fleeting Years” was playing:

”In the years we have, unexpectedly we meet,

Inevitably we couldn’t avoid,

Palms suddenly grew entangling curves,

Before understanding, after infatuation,

It didn’t last more than a day,

That day changed a lifetime.

...

Half an hour later, the car slowly stopped at the entrance of Zicheng Mansion.

Shu Ran turned her head slightly: ”...I’m here.”

Zhang Jingdong quickly unfastened his seat belt: ”Okay, see you tomorrow!”

”...See you tomorrow.”

Watching Zhang Jingdong open the car door, Shu Ran felt a slight sense of loss.

But then, Zhang Jingdong suddenly turned back around: ”Your Athena dolls are quite nice, how about giving me one?”

Shu Ran couldn’t believe Zhang Jingdong would make such a request and didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

But she quickly realized that Zhang Jingdong’s request might be his response to seeing the Athena dolls in her car: he was not mocking her, but appreciating, even envying her.

She was touched once again by his thoughtfulness.

”Okay, which one do you want?”

”I want the one on your car key.”

Shu Ran’s heart tightened: ”You’ve got good taste, that’s my favorite one, and it’s the only one, how about...”

Zhang Jingdong curled his lip: ”If you really want to give it to me, then I’ll only take that one, otherwise forget it!”

”Why are you like this?” Shu Ran couldn’t help but show her dilemma: ”How about this, anything but that one, you can pick anything else...”

Shu Ran pointed to the one above her head: ”I’m also quite fond of this one and it’s the only one as well, how about this one?”

Zhang Jingdong smiled and shook his head: ”Tell me the truth, is it because that one holds special significance given to you by family or someone else, or do you just simply like it?”

”If it’s the former, then I don’t want it, disregard what I said earlier. But if it’s the latter, then I insist on my choice.”

”It wasn’t given by someone else, but...”

At that moment, Shu Ran suddenly noticed the ring that Zhang Jingdong had just given her tonight on her left hand and remembered the lucky card he had given her in her wallet.

After another five seconds of hesitation, she sighed: ”Alright, if you really want it... then I’ll give it to you...”

Saying that, Shu Ran removed the Athena doll from her car key and handed it to Zhang Jingdong.

Zhang Jingdong took the doll, looked it over carefully, then said: ”Teacher Shu, I’m not trying to take what you love, I want you to always remember that your favorite thing... is with me!”

After that, Zhang Jingdong gave Shu Ran a deep look and got out of the car.

Shu Ran watched through the rearview mirror as Zhang Jingdong got into the black Land Rover behind them, changed direction shortly after, and quickly vanished from her sight.

At this time, Shu Ran took out her wallet and pulled out the lucky card, staring at the two lines of text for a long time.

Suddenly, a miraculous gleam appeared in her eyes.
