The Evolution Of A Goblin To The Peak

Chapter 1232: Fighting the Calamity: Farewell

Beneath the Royal Palace of the Everlasting Kingdom.

Saya, possessing Souta’s body, was locked in a brutal battle against Hero-rank dark apparitions.

”I’ll kill all of you!!”

Saya raised her hands.

In that instant, a catastrophic force detonated from within her body. The ground ruptured violently, collapsing layer after layer as an expanding field of power surged outward. Hundreds of thousands of dark apparitions were annihilated without even leaving behind ashes.

Ohm!!

The tremors did not stop.

Saya slowly lifted her head and stared at the colossal door ahead. Her expression darkened.

Behind it was something that should never have existed.

The moment her senses brushed against that presence, her mind screamed in warning. It was vast, so vast that it felt boundless. It wasn’t merely powerful; it was wrong. As if reality itself was rejecting what lay beyond the door.

The space around it warped and distorted. Light bent unnaturally, shadows twisted, and even the laws of the world seemed to falter in its vicinity.

If that door fully opened, nothing would remain.

”I have to close it.”

The decision was absolute.

Clutching the Vajra sword tightly, Saya charged forward.

What Saya was about to do bordered on suicide.

She was nothing more than a will inhabiting Souta’s body, not her true self. Her power was incomplete, unstable. Worse still, she had already been gravely weakened after her failed attempt to expel the No God Emperor from Yenxa’s body in the past. That desperate struggle had drained her to the brink, crushed by the sheer disparity in their strength.

Now, her options were painfully limited.

”I really wanted to destroy all of you!”

Saya roared, fury and despair intertwining.

She pointed the Vajra sword toward the countless dark apparitions clustered before the massive door. Her energy exploded outward, forming an enormous crimson phantom blade that towered above the battlefield. Lightning crackled violently around it, ripping through space and leaving scorched scars in the air itself.

[World-Cutting Vajra Domination]!!

The towering pillars of energy scattered throughout the underground realm began to tremble. One by one, they dissolved into streams of light, converging rapidly into the crimson phantom blade.

The pressure skyrocketed.

In the next moment, the blade surged forward as Saya thrust the sword with everything she had left.

At the same time, she raised her other hand, teeth clenched as blood trickled from the corner of her mouth. Dozens of intricate magic circles formed in the air, overlapping and interlocking in a complex array.

”I will disrupt your plan! No matter what!!”

BOOM!!!!

The explosion that followed surpassed all previous clashes.

Beneath the Royal Palace, the land collapsed entirely, forming a massive abyss that swallowed everything within kilometers. Shockwaves tore through underground veins of energy and erupted onto the surface. Across the Land of Fire Light, mountains cracked apart. Rivers instantly evaporated into steam. Entire cities trembled as buildings crumbled and defensive formations shattered like glass.

Far beyond the battlefield...

In the Nature Zone City, Prince Angus, Emiline, and the remaining survivors were violently thrown off balance. They turned their heads in horror as the sky itself rippled, clouds spiraling uncontrollably as if dragged toward a distant vortex.

The pressure descended upon the entire region like an invisible god pressing its palm down upon the world.

Even regions tens of kilometers away felt it.

Experts fell to their knees, blood pouring from their mouths. Beasts wailed and fled in terror. Ancient formations that had stood for eras cracked and failed one after another.

It felt as though the pressure was descending from a higher existence.

Compared to it, the despair brought by the countless dark apparitions was insignificant. This was a presence that eclipsed fear itself, pressing down on the world like the will of a god.

”What is happening?!!”

”Is there... is there still a chance to survive?!!”

”I hope this is all just a dream...”

The survivors were flooded with conflicting emotions. They stood on the brink of despair, yet deep within their hearts, a fragile hope remained that the terrifying energy erupting from the royal capital could suppress this calamity.

Then,

The explosion arrived.

The entire royal capital collapsed inward, dragging the surrounding lands with it. The ground caved in catastrophically, forming a colossal pit. A towering pillar of smoke surged upward from the depths as violent arcs of energy crackled wildly throughout the void.

Whooosh!!

Beneath the ruins of the royal capital, space itself was fractured. Thick smoke filled the area, and jagged spatial cracks tore through the air like open wounds.

The only sounds that remained were the violent sparks of energy snapping across the unstable rifts.

The seemingly endless tide of dark apparitions was gone.

Slowly, the smoke began to dissipate.

Suspended in the air at the center of the devastation was Saya.

Her face was pale, her expression utterly exhausted.

”Huff... huff... huff...”

Her breathing was ragged and uneven, sweat soaking through her hair and clothes. The backlash from her final attack had exacted a terrifying toll.

”I’ve... used up all my power...” she muttered weakly. ”This is bad.”

As her vision steadied, she realized something was wrong.

The surroundings were no longer the shattered ruins of the capital.

She was standing in the middle of a vast plain.

A powerful wind swept across the land, causing endless waves of grass to sway and ripple like an ocean. The air was crisp and clean, untouched by blood or corruption. Warm sunlight bathed the world in a gentle glow, painting everything in peaceful hues.

Saya slowly lifted her head.

Above her stretched a beautiful, boundless blue sky.

Then, she felt a presence behind her.

Saya slowly turned around and her eyes widened in shock.

Standing before her was none other than Souta.

”Souta...”

The name slipped from her lips before she could stop herself.

Only then did she notice something was wrong.

She lowered her gaze to her own body.

Long, beautiful crimson hair flowed down her back. Her skin was smooth and fair, untouched by scars or exhaustion. She was dressed in a simple white gown, its fabric fluttering gently in the wind. A pair of horns rose from her head, the left one was broken. Her reddish eyes, ringed faintly with blue, shimmered softly as they blinked.

This was her true appearance.

The form she had when she was still alive.

”So that’s how it is...” she murmured.

She lifted her head again and looked at Souta, who stood quietly in front of her, his expression unreadable.

”I’m sorry,” Saya said at last, lowering her head.

Her gaze fell to the grass beneath her feet. She noticed his steps drawing closer.

When she looked up again, he was standing less than half a meter away.

”Why?” Souta asked. His voice was low. ”Why did you do it?”

”I...” Saya met his eyes, her voice trembling. ”I couldn’t control myself. By the time I realized what was happening, it was already too late. I just... I wanted to buy you more time. I wanted to make sure no calamity would reach you before you had the chance to grow.”

She already knew the outcome.

She had pushed herself too far, burning away the last remnants of her will until nothing remained.

”I didn’t want this to happen,” Souta said, clenching his fists so tightly his knuckles turned white.

”I know...” Saya replied softly. ”I could have summoned Kessa or Yuko to help me. But the calamity was far too dangerous. It was too early for them to face something like that.”

She took a quiet breath.

”So I endured it alone. I used my own power and held everything together as long as I could... because you needed time. You needed to be prepared.”

The wind swept through the grass between them.

And for a moment, neither of them spoke.

”I know!” Souta snapped. ”I’ve seen your memories!”

Saya fell silent.

She could feel his anger but she understood it. She had been with him for a long time. She knew his personality better than anyone. He was never good with words; he never expressed his concern openly. Instead, he showed it through his actions, through the things he chose to do and the burdens he chose to carry.

Slowly, Saya lifted her head.

A beautiful smile bloomed on her face, gentle and a little shy.

”So you saw it,” she said softly. ”Knowing you’ve seen my past... it makes me a bit embarrassed.”

”What am I supposed to do... without you?” Souta asked. His gaze dropped to the ground, his voice cracking. ”I... Saya...”

She noticed his hands trembling.

Her expression softened even more as she spoke quietly, ”Souta, please forgive me for what I did. And I’m sorry... because I won’t be able to accompany you anymore.”

”I can’t...” Souta choked. ”It feels too heavy...”

He raised his head to look at her, tears spilling freely from his eyes.

The sight pierced her heart.

”Souta, don’t cry,” Saya said gently. ”This isn’t the end. I’m just going to a place where I should have been a long time ago.”

Her smile wavered for just a moment before steadying.

”I really wanted to see what you would accomplish in the future,” she continued softly. ”But I can’t do that anymore.”
