The Evolution Of A Goblin To The Peak

Chapter 1203: Against the Ruler of Gluttony

”It’s been a while since the three of us fought together. Don’t back down,” Eztein laughed as he stepped forward, a dark spear materializing in his hand.

Doranjan sighed. ”You just got out of a fight. You really never learn.”

”It’s a reunion,” Eztein grinned. ”No better time to show what you’ve learned in the past four months.”

He turned to Vashno. ”Mana potion?”

Vashno smirked and tossed him a bottle. He stepped up beside them and said, ”Then let’s do this. It really has been a while. I hope you haven’t slacked off in your training.”

Eztein drank the potion in one go and tossed the empty bottle aside. Wiping the corner of his lips, he said, ”I’m way better than before. Oh, and Doranjan, two members of the Gluttony Army followed you.”

”Me?” Doranjan frowned. ”I didn’t encounter anyone. Maybe they pulled back since we returned to the Imperium... or maybe not.”

His gaze shifted toward the countless Messengers of Gluttony.

Vashno, Eztein, and Doranjan stood shoulder to shoulder, facing the approaching horde. They knew the battle ahead would be brutal yet when had they ever faced anything easy? Struggle had become their path, and through it, their strength had only grown.

Behind them, Raven watched the trio’s backs. She could feel the depth of their bond, forged through countless trials. Whatever they had gone through together, it had shaped them into something unbreakable.

She tightened her grip on her weapon and stepped up behind them, ready to support them with everything she had.

...

In the realm inside the patch of darkness and light.

The land had transformed entirely. Massive structures rose like monuments of an ancient nightmare: colossal altars bound by gigantic chains, a ground drenched in dark liquid that pulsed like a living thing, and a sky choked with swirling purple clouds.

Esquin, the Ruler of Gluttony, stood calmly in the air, as if the chaos around him belonged to him alone.

Above him hovered several figures. They were God-rank angels, fallen angels, and even Monster Lords. Among them was Cherubim, whose appearance alone signaled the gravity of the situation.

Including them, and excluding Veinn and Coriel, nine God-rank beings had gathered.

Judging by their calm expressions and their chosen positions, it was clear: they had anticipated Esquin’s arrival.

Esquin let out a low laugh at the realization. His gaze swept across the gathered gods, and he spoke with a mocking tone:

”So... you predicted my movements and came here hoping to defeat me? What a magnificent mess you’ve made for yourselves.”

What a lineup.

The Angel Faction and the Fallen Angel Faction working together.

Two Holy Lands joining forces against a single being.

”You are the mistake of the angels! It is our duty to put you down!”

A powerful voice rang out. It came from a beautiful woman radiating divine authority, Archangel Gabriel, one of the Angel Faction’s God-rank powerhouses.

”Then do it!” Esquin replied, laughter rumbling beneath his voice. ”I’ll be here to accompany all of you!”

His energy burst outward like a tidal wave. He raised his hand and clenched his fist.

In an instant, billions of runes ignited across the entire realm, flickering like stars awakening from slumber.

As a Rune Master, this battlefield was perfect for him.

The Tomb of Gluttony was overflowing with runes, each one his to command.

Whoosh!!

A figure shot forward like a streak of divine light.

Archangel Vienn.

Veinn swung her sword downward with terrifying precision. Esquin shifted his body, the blade grazing past him as he twisted, spinning gracefully before driving his foot toward her torso.

Veinn knew she couldn’t block the kick in time. She took the full force of it head-on.

Bang!

She braced her body and endured the blow, preparing to retaliate but a sword flashed toward her at incredible speed. She reacted instantly, raising her round shield to intercept it.

Bang!!

The impact blasted Veinn several kilometers backward. Runes ignited across the sky in her wake, detonating one after another and tearing apart the space around her.

Esquin’s eyes suddenly widened. He spun around just in time, Coriel, the Fallen Mercy of Order, unleashed a barrage of highly concentrated energy rays.

Esquin’s figure blurred as he shot through the air, weaving between the deadly beams with impossible speed.

Boom! Boom!

The rays struck the ground behind him, erupting into devastating explosions. Hundreds of runes were obliterated in an instant, and the terrain itself was wiped clean, leaving nothing but scorched emptiness in their wake.

”Ha!!”

Esquin roared as darkness erupted from his body. Countless eyes blinked open within the abyss, devouring the remaining energy rays in an instant.

Then, a colossal bolt of lightning tore down from above.

A fallen angel, Baraqiel, had descended, unleashing a storm of lightning that shook the heavens. Each bolt spread outward like a boundless sea, ripping through everything in its path. The entire realm trembled under the onslaught.

BOOM!!

A terrifying surge of power engulfed the Tomb of Gluttony. The fused realm seemed on the verge of collapse, its very fabric cracking under the pressure. Only the intervention of several God-rank beings prevented it from shattering with each one compressing the aftershocks, forcefully containing the destruction.

They had one goal: keep the Ruler of Gluttony confined, no matter the cost.

Esquin, once an angel, had long severed his ties. He had cut off his own wings, and the angels had hunted him relentlessly ever since. Yet not once had they succeeded.

Various domains unfurled at once.

Any mortal caught in this place would have been reduced to ash in an instant. The scale of the battle was far too high. This was precisely why the angels and fallen angels were determined to end it here, within this sealed realm. If such a clash erupted outside, the casualties would be immeasurable as countless mortals would be wiped out before they even realized what was happening.

”This realm is mine to decree!”

Esquin’s voice thundered as he brought his sword down. Darkness spilled outward from the swing, devouring everything whether physical substance or conceptual form.

From four directions, Veinn, Coriel, Baraqiel, and Gabriel launched their assault. Their combined might tore into the darkness, splitting it apart with overwhelming force.

Swoosh!!

Esquin exchanged high-speed blows with all four simultaneously. In less than a heartbeat, they had already traded hundreds of thousands of strikes. Gabriel, Veinn, Coriel, and Baraqiel moved in perfect coordination as they confronted the Ruler of Gluttony.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Two more God-rank beings surged into the battlefield. They were Ariem and Jophiel. Both were God-rank powerhouses of their respective factions. Meanwhile, the other divine beings strained to hold the collapsing realm together.

Any other realm would have already shattered into nothingness.

But the Tomb of Gluttony was different. It was constructed from the very spatial fabric of the Imperium itself, and reinforced by the lingering power of the previous Rulers of Gluttony who had perished here. Even the Will of Heaven’s Calamity had once failed to break free from this place.

Esquin swung his sword again and again, blocking and countering while his eyes rapidly read the movements of his opponents. He drove his foot into the air, stabilizing his stance as the darkness around him sharpened and slashed through space itself.

Veinn and Gabriel braced themselves at the front, blocking the torrent of attacks. Then, Esquin abruptly spun around and raised his sword.

Clang!

A shadowy figure materialized behind him, a scythe already crashing against his blade.

A pale man with dark, blood-reddish hair stood before him, wreathed in black fire and violent winds. His long hair drifted wildly as he pressed more force into the scythe.

”Azazel!” Esquin’s eyes widened. He hadn’t sensed him at all. Azazel had slipped into the battlefield without the slightest trace.

Sparks burst between them as their weapons ground against each other.

”Ruler of Gluttony,” Azazel said coldly, ”your rampage ends today.”

Esquin snorted. ”Not even you can stop me today.”

He shifted slightly, just in time. A beam of light ripped through the darkness, grazing his cheek and drawing a thin streak of blood.

He snapped his head toward the source of the attack—and froze.

”You’re here too... Michael!”

A tall, handsome man hovered in the air, long white hair flowing behind him. His silver-and-gold armor glimmered like a falling star, and waves of pure light radiated from his body, forcing back the darkness that blanketed the realm.

Azazel and Michael, titans of their factions. They were one of the most powerful beings in their respective factions. Their influence stretched across the entire Holy Lands.

It was quite similar to Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades of Olympus. These three beings were quite similar in power and any of them could claim the top rank position.

”It’s over, Esquin,” Michael said, his voice calm yet absolute.

”Over?” Esquin’s expression twisted into a grin as his energy erupted like a tidal wave. ”Do you really think this is the end?!”
