Chapter 842: Chapter 668: The Mother and Son Who Plague the Southern Country

A passing old female official heard the words, shuddered with her tiger-like body, and turned pale!

The might of the Southern Emperor? Bah! It’s clearly the overbearing power of the Southern Emperor, unmatched in the world!

Of course, she only dared complain about this in her heart, plus she felt like vomiting three liters of blood to sympathize with her gloomy fate!

”Look, these court officials who are here for the audience have all placed their Life-bound Gu at the foot of the mountain. Our Southern Emperor has gathered all Four Great Imperial Gu, presumably his Gu techniques have reached Great Accomplishment, so much that even these old officials’ Life-bound Gu must avoid their sharp edge and dare not face directly!” said one of the Southwest citizens from below the mountain.

A few elderly officials who had placed their Life-bound Gu below the mountain turned red, blue, green—such colorful faces!

Pity those short-sighted commoners! Can’t they look more carefully? All the Life-bound Gu placed at the mountain’s foot, aren’t they considered forbidden delicacies?

Ah, the lesson of the past! After a court official’s Snake Gu was carved out and made into snake soup, and then a Crab-Rearing Gu had its crab roe forcibly taken, these subjects finally learned from experience. Whenever their Gu insects were edible, they absolutely must not bring them to the Heavenly Palace because it’s no different than sending a sheep into a tiger’s den. If unlucky, it could end up as the New Emperor’s meal!

Pity them, though not all were eaten; although the Gu insects can regenerate, the feeder officials felt like their hearts were carved out!

The best way, therefore, is to never let the New Emperor see their Gu insects, which can prevent a future disaster!

Over time, while many court officials in the Southern Country prepared for the New Emperor’s mission to Great Zhou, Gu Changsheng became restless in the Great Swamp Mountain Heavenly Palace!

”Damn it, these past few days those old geezers have become smarter, not bringing a single Gu insect up, causing me to lose my appetite!” Gu Changsheng was quite indignant about this; those old officials dared to desecrate her evildoer, and she hadn’t even settled the score!

”Mother, Gu insects are really delicious! There are plenty on my Three Palaces Peak. How about we go hunting at the Three Palaces?” Little Meat Bun licked his lips, his big round eyes sparkling.

”Hunting? Hunt what?” Gu Changsheng glared.

”Hunt Gu insects! Let’s go up the Three Palaces Peak, pick and choose, catch all the edible ones into the pot, and make a mixed stew!” Little Meat Bun drooled, rubbing his hands with excitement.

Truthfully, Gu insects are extremely tasty, their flavor lingered long.

”Thud!”

Nearby, a holy golden figure hovering in mid-air stumbled and fell to the ground!

It was a significant commotion, causing Little Meat Bun to immediately turn around, run over with concern, and lift the holy golden figure, ”Oh no, Manman, are you possessed by Dandan? How come you’re still stumbling at this age? Stand firm, we’ll take you hunting later...”

”You! Don’t come near, I don’t recognize you!” Manman covered his face, struggled free from Little Meat Bun’s embrace, flew back to Gu Changsheng, raised a tiny paw, his insect face full of resentment, ”You! You have taught a fine son, you actually dare eat my insects and insect offspring!”

”It’s not like we ate the whole body, just carved a little meat!” Gu Changsheng raised an eyebrow, full of justified temptation, ”Manman, why don’t you have a taste too? Your insects and their offspring are really quite good. It truly reflects the essence of the Gu insect nurtured by absorbing the world’s essence!”

”You! Once I reshape my Divine Body, I’ll definitely sever ties with you!” Manman’s insect face twisted in anger.

Gu Changsheng smirked, spoke indifferently, ”To help you reshape your Divine Body, you still need to eat!”

The implication was clear, even if Manman could reshape his Divine Body, but in the current world, only she, Gu Changsheng, carried the Blood of Serving God, and she has firmly secured the privilege of cutting off food!

Manman was instantly defeated, hiding with Dandan’s Divine Soul on the side, drawing circles!

Little Meat Bun approached hesitantly, looked at his mother, ”Mother, are we still going hunting?”

”No! What’s the point of hunting? Besides, what you’re doing isn’t even hunting, is it? The Three Palaces are yours, would catching insects on your own turf give you any sense of achievement?” Gu Changsheng sneered, full of disdain, and continued to teach him, ”Son, listen to mother, in this world, wives aren’t as good as concubines, concubines aren’t as good as courtesans, in short, home flowers aren’t as fragrant as wild flowers. Similarly, your own Gu insects aren’t as fragrant as others’ Gu insects!”

Little Meat Bun nodded in agreement, opening his mouth solemnly, ”Mother is right, then mother, let’s go and snatch other people’s Gu insects to eat!”

”Bang!”

A little bump exploded on Little Meat Bun’s small head.

Gu Changsheng looked righteously severe at Little Meat Bun, spoke, ”Don’t do those sneaky and thieving things! If an accident happens, it’ll be disgraceful!”

A group of palace attendants nearby nodded promptly, acknowledging that the Sovereign was right, and this was the proper way to educate offspring.

However, the next moment, the palace attendants were petrified because their Sovereign continued, ”My son, remember, we’re not snatching, we’re borrowing, alright? We’re just borrowing a little bit of their Gu insect meat to eat, which could help their Gu insects regenerate muscles, promote their metabolism, and boost their vitality!”

Nonsense! Clearly, it’s the Sovereign’s greed for food, plus teaching those old officials a lesson, making them remember, how did it become such a righteous speech?

Those are the Gu insects revered as sacred by the Southwest citizens! How come in her Sovereign’s eyes, it’s only a difference between being a dish or not?

This...

Yet her Sovereign spoke so nobly, it’s truly... shameless!

And Little Meat Bun lowered his head to ponder, then nodded deeply in agreement, accepting without hesitation his mother’s teachings, spoke slightly indignantly, ”Mother is right, mother kindly helps them, yet they still don’t appreciate it, really incomprehensible!”

The main issue was that it prevented him from eating Gu insect meat! Little Yuan Bao clenched his fist, so craving for it!

A group of palace attendants were crying, who was unreasonable after all? You mother and son duo have devoured so many Life-bound Gu insects with your mouths wide open, should those officials be expected to be grateful?

What kind of justice is this!

The group of palace attendants thought they had never seen such a bizarre mother and son pair!

Absolutely ruthless to the extreme, utterly unbearable!

”Exactly!” Gu Changsheng expressed support for his own little Yuan Bao’s statement, narrowing her Phoenix Eyes into a line, evilly propping her chin as she spoke, ”Little Monk Bu Jie’s auspicious day calculation still has a few days to go, and the Four Great Imperial Gu are still preparing for Yuan Bao’s soul restoration. Since we are idle anyway, my son, how about we go down the mountain to visit some neighbors?”

If the mountain won’t come to me, I’ll go to the mountain!

Gu Changsheng felt she was quite approachable.

”All right, all right!” Little Yuan Bao agreed and immediately scampered off with his little legs, heading straight for the Heavenly Palace kitchen!

Before long, he dragged back a large bundle, calling for his mother, ready to visit neighbors!

The palace attendants sensed a bad premonition at this sight.

Finally, a palace maid timidly stepped forward, pointing to the large bundle behind the little lord, and nervously asked, ”Little Highness, what’s inside this?”

”Treasures!” Little Yuan Bao exclaimed, glaring with wide round eyes, flopping onto the bundle, grinning so wide his eyes disappeared.

From under his small frame came a clattering sound, so alarming!

The female officials looked on with utter disbelief, their hearts anxious.

Meanwhile, Gu Changsheng approached and opened the bundle.

Instantly, pots, pans, various spices entered everyone’s view... leaving the palace attendants dumbfounded.

”Not bad, pepper, cumin, stew ingredients... quite complete!” Gu Changsheng gave her son a small approving look, then the mother and son swiftly repacked the bundle, disappeared in a flash outside the Heavenly Palace Hall...

”Your Majesty! Little Highness! Come back!” A palace attendant snapped back to reality, wailing at the two disappearing figures heading halfway down the mountain.

The mother and son halfway up the mountain ignored them and ran off for their provisions!

The palace attendants stomped their feet.

”It’s over, it’s over! His Majesty and Little Highness are down the mountain now, how many people are going to suffer!” The leading palace maid rubbed her hands, frantic, finally stomping her feet saying, ”People, quickly ignite the third-grade signal fire, warn the cities and residences around Great Swamp Mountain to be on guard, swiftly dispatch the Gale Gu, inform all court officials’ residences, they must hide their Gu insects before His Majesty and Little Highness go visiting!”

They even brought pots and pans, His Majesty and Little Highness are determined foodies!

The female officials were deeply worried, feeling that the residences of the influential officials stationed outside Great Swamp Mountain were doomed!

To this, they felt utterly helpless!

Below Great Swamp Mountain, several mountains away in a major city, formerly Heluo City, now renamed Southern Country City, was Gu Changsheng and Little Yuan Bao’s first stop because this was the center for Southern Country’s officials, with Southern Country’s six ministries located here, and most court officials’ residences also here!

The mother and son arrived by Gale Gu, quickly stopping under the city gate of Southern Country City. They put away the Gale Gu, faces drooling with grins, rubbing their hands, poised for a major endeavor!

Meanwhile, across the city gate in Southern Country City, it no longer appeared prosperous, but a scene of chaos!

”Quick, quick, quick! His Majesty and Little Highness are here, quickly hide the Gu insects, move them elsewhere!”

”Over there, over there, hide them at that Blacksmith’s home a bit! No way! We can’t hide so many here, His Majesty is extraordinarily talented and might smell them, hide some elsewhere!”

”That man cleaning dung, lend us your dung pit!”

”That scavenger, do you have space at your place?”

”...”

A crowd of influential court officials flooded the streets, behind them their Life-bound Gu, hiding everywhere, inciting panic throughout the city.

”What’s going on here?”

”I heard it’s because His Majesty and Little Highness have arrived. It must be that Southern Country is now peaceful, and His Majesty brought Little Highness for inspection!”
