Chapter 818: Chapter 647: Southern Chen, You Have Ignited My Passion!

”Southern Chen, you have ignited my passion!”

The casual words were no less than a death knell for the Southern Chen troops below. Countless soldiers trembled and backed down, their eyes filled with extreme fear.

Gu Changsheng’s King’s Robe fluttered in the wind as he withdrew his hand from the city wall, standing upright and resplendent. Behind him, the brilliant moon hung in the sky, endless stars stretched across the heavens, and his cool voice resounded again in the spacious night sky, ”The chaos of the Witch and Gu Tribes had nothing to do with the Central Plains. You seized the opportunity to invade my ancestral land, violating the pledge of mutual non-aggression between your ancestors and mine. Southern Chen, you invaded my territory, harmed my people, and nearly exhausted and killed my friends. This crime, I shall repay with your slaughter!”

As Gu Changsheng spoke, his gaze lowered, vaguely as if looking at a group of corpses.

The Southern Chen General felt a chill in his heart, while the old think tank’s face was ashen. He turned, got up, and kneeled on the ground, his aged voice filled with pleading, ”Emperor Changsheng above! This sinner is willing to die! We are willing to die! Our hundreds of thousands of troops are willing to die to atone! We humbly request Emperor Changsheng to quell his wrath after our deaths, to cease hostilities here. Even if we die, we will remember Emperor Changsheng’s great kindness! Even if we die, we will remember Emperor Changsheng’s great kindness!”

The old think tank’s graying hair danced wildly in the night wind as he repeatedly kowtowed and expressed gratitude.

This scene left all the Southern Chen troops dumbfounded!

The Southern Chen General looked at the elder think tank who continued kowtowing endlessly with disbelief, his expression bewildered, ”Think tank, what is your intention? Could it be that you want...”

To have these hundreds of thousands of troops take their own lives here as atonement?

Though knowing there was no way out, at that moment, the Southern Chen General also showed a trace of disbelief on his face!

”Silence! For the millions of people of Southern Chen! To prevent our Southern Chen from turning into a blood-red purgatory under the tide of the Witch Sea Gu, Sima Lin, as a member of the Imperial Clan of Southern Chen, you shall die with honor! Take up your spear!” The old think tank turned back, his demeanor decisively roaring.

As the think tank of the Southern Chen Army, for decades his status was unmatched in the Southern Chen army, even the Old Emperor of Southern Chen showed him some deference. If not, he wouldn’t have been sent to pave the way with the vanguard army in Bashu!

Southern Chen General Sima Lin, upon hearing this, shivered, glanced at the Gu tide before Shanmen City, and the endless Witch Sea behind the hundreds of thousands of troops, grasped his spear tightly, his eyes filled with struggle.

Finally, he raised his head, lifted his spear, and pointed it at his chest.

”Emperor Changsheng above, we are willing to die! We only ask Emperor Changsheng to pardon, do not bring calamity upon the millions of Southern Chen people! We only ask Emperor Changsheng to calm his anger! We only ask Emperor Changsheng to calm his anger!” Seeing this, the old think tank persistently kowtowed again.

Gu Changsheng looked at the kneeling old man, guarded in the middle by the army at the city gate, his expression momentarily dazed, his voice carried a tinge of hollowness, ”I slaughtered you all to address the harm done to my people and friends, but you all attacked my land with a nation’s army, my Clan of God Favor cannot be desecrated, the anger of the Gu and Witch Tribe people has been aroused, even as the Southwestern Co-Ruler, if I do not slaughter Southern Chen, I cannot quell the desecration angering my people!”

Gu Changsheng spoke up to this point, an unavoidable helplessness flickered in his eyes. Damn it, wasn’t she just forced into this?

What use was it to plead with her?

Couldn’t they see behind the Gu tide, within Shanmen City, millions of furious Witch Gu people?

Public rage unresolved, the Southwest in turmoil, even being the Southwestern Co-Ruler, damn it, is far from peaceful!

”Southern Chen is gone.” Gu Changsheng’s expression was dazed, speaking with helplessness.

It’s not her fault!

Blame it on Southern Chen being in the south, closest to the Bashu and Southern Border of the Southwest, even though Northern Mongolian and Liaodong don’t wish the Southern Border to fall into the hands of the Prince Changsheng of Great Zhou, but those two countries are in the north, even if they were to send troops, they would first face the evildoer’s Great Zhou; their influence just can’t reach, they simply can’t make it!

So now, Southern Chen is first to bear the brunt, unable to escape this disaster!

Southern Chen, is gone!

Just these simple four words announced the impending demise of Southern Chen, one of the Four Kingdoms of the Central Plains!

At this moment, Sima Lin’s face was ashen, the countless troops appeared bewildered, yet they did not doubt the truth of these words because the Gu tide of the Witch Sea before them was so vividly clear it sent chills down their spines!

With human power, they could still fight, but how would they contend against these mysterious, enigmatic witchcraft Gu insects? They could wound by mere touch, cause certain death by mere proximity—such was the terrifying existence of Witch Gu which had always silenced the people of the Central Plains!

The old think tank, hearing these four words, did not express much doubt. Rather, he lifted his head again, his gaze pleaded upward, ”Emperor Changsheng once healed the world, embraced it with compassion, these sinners know Southern Chen must perish, yet we humbly plead with Emperor Changsheng for the innocence of the people. Though marching into the Central Plains to conquer Southern Chen, forgive the countless innocents of Southern Chen! Pardon the people of Southern Chen! Our deaths still remember Emperor Changsheng’s great kindness!”

The old think tank finished speaking and bowed down again. Then he rose, looking at the hundreds of thousands of troops beside him, his voice filled with pleading resolve, ”Leaders of Southern Chen, Nine Layers of the Celestial Tome, catastrophe descends on the Central Plains, Southern Chen breached the ancestor’s pledge and invaded the Southwest, escaping judgment is impossible, please consider the countless people of Southern Chen, think of your relatives in Southern Chen, follow me to our deaths, and seek a lifeline for them!”

For a moment, Gu Changsheng’s troops did not move, the Southern Chen’s military resolve faltered.

”Sima Lin of the Southern Chen Imperial Family, willing to die, begs Emperor Changsheng to show mercy, forgive the countless innocent people of Southern Chen!” Sima Lin held his spear and bowed.

”Pu!”

In the next instant, the spear pierced his chest, blood blossomed in the midst of the Southern Chen army.

”Please...forgive Southern Chen... people...” Blood poured from the corners of his mouth, Sima Lin endeavored to utter this plea, his figure collapsed, silent, yet his wide eyes still looked at the brilliant Shanmen City tower, and beyond, the woman adorned in the King’s Robe of elegance...

”We are willing to die! Plea...”

”Pu!”

”Pu!”

”Pu!”

”...”

Countless sounds of spears piercing flesh spread throughout the Southern Chen troops.

One by one, the Southern Chen soldiers, wielding their weapons, drove them into their bodies.

Certain death, knowing full well of certain death!

How much courage does it take to commit suicide? Gu Changsheng did not know, but beneath Shanmen City, these tens of thousands of troops committing suicide deeply shook her heart.

”Please spare the citizens of Southern Chen!”

Once again, a spray of blood blossomed among the Southern Chen troops who knew survival was hopeless.

Self-slaughter, tens of thousands choosing self-slaughter!

Under this absolute menace, they chose death to gain a promise, hoping only that the millions of Southern Chen citizens could leave a sliver of hope in the catastrophe of the Central Plains!

The red of blood stained the land before Shanmen City.

Gu Changsheng stood in front of the city gate, watching as the clamorous pleas below became silent one by one after the suicides, her face extremely grim!

If Southern Chen had resisted, she could have just slaughtered them directly! It would be much better than now!

”Mother! What in the world is happening?” With the healing from the Divine Medicine and Wuchang Yue, Borjigin Nian leaned against the city gate to stand up, startled by the suicide of the Southern Chen soldiers not far away.

This was too terrifying!

She had battled with the Southern Chen soldiers all the way from the Bashu border to the edge of the Southern Border, fighting numerous battles, yet in front of her, these hundreds of thousands of Southern Chen troops chose to commit suicide!

Suicide! How much courage must one muster to choose a way to commit suicide?

But yet, so many here had died by their own hands!

At this moment, Borjigin Nian swallowed, her beautiful face full of terror.

With the thunderous voices pleading, in the blink of an eye, over half of the hundreds of thousands of Southern Chen army had died, corpses piling up, blood faintly glowing in scarlet...

”Emperor Changsheng, I beg you, spare the citizens of Southern Chen!” The old Think Tank knelt amid the blood pool, a dagger in hand, slashing his own throat in an instant.

Atop the city gate, Gu Changsheng’s expression flickered, her hands gradually clenched, murmuring softly, ”I will, do my best!”

She would try her best to spare as these self-sacrificing people wished, the millions of Southern Chen citizens, but the relentless rage of the Witch and Gu Tribes could not be quelled without blood; Southern Chen was destined to face a great catastrophe!

Gu Changsheng’s words, neither too high nor too low, were faintly heard by the Southern Chen army below the city gate, and in an instant, the Southern Chen forces who had yet to muster the courage to self-slaughter displayed a look of relief, countless weapons were once again wielded into their own bodies, swaths of people fell...

”Hear my order, my people, kill for me!” Gu Changsheng watched the purgatory-like scene of suicide below, with clenched fists, unable to bear watching any longer, she mustered her inner strength and shouted in a deep voice, ”Kill! Slaughter all who offend our Southwest! Slaughter all who oppress the Witch and Gu Tribes! Kill for me!”

Couldn’t watch any longer!

Couldn’t bear to look any longer!

She would rather these people had died by her slaughter than witnessing them commit suicide again!

This shook her too greatly!

As Gu Changsheng gave the order, atop Shanmen City, the Gu Maiden in Miao’s clothes standing on the head of the giant python moved, and the endless tide of Gu instantly surged towards the remaining Southern Chen soldiers!

Behind, the witches of the Witch Clan moved, the pervasive witchcraft of slaughter with endless bloodthirsty black aura engulfed the Southern Chen soldiers!

After the Witch Sea Gu Tide, countless people of the Witch and Gu Tribes chanted foreign incantations in unison, driving the Witch Sea Gu Tide to churn a towering blood wave!

”Ah!”

”Ah!”

”...”

The wails resounded through Shanmen City.

This was a massacre, a slaughter with no chance of resistance!

Before they could even take their own lives, they were drowned in the Witch Sea Gu Tide.

”Slash...” An arm of a Southern Chen soldier was entirely swallowed by a Gu insect’s gaping maw.

”Hiss...” A Southern Chen soldier tainted with black witch aura was in moments entirely blackened, decayed, and died in painful struggle...

”Kill! Kill all these vile people! Dare to offend us Witches and Gu Tribes! Kill!”

”Kill!”

Watching the Southern Chen soldiers struggling to death under the Witch Sea Gu Tide, countless people of the Witch and Gu Tribes emerged, shouting and roaring with righteous indignation!

Among them, there were elders with hair and beard all white, and toddlers just learning to speak...

Gu Changsheng watched the submerged Southern Chen troops, then looked at the passionately indignant Southwestern citizens, a face of fatigue, sighed deeply in helplessness.

The people’s grievances are unquenched, and all of this, in the end, is inevitable...
