Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 839: Chapter 623: Come Here, Let Ancestor Hold You!

When Yang Zhenshan arrived at Star Moon Island, it was already the twenty-eighth day of the twelfth lunar month, and the entire journey had taken a month and a half.

At this moment, it was nearing noon, the busiest time at the port and in the town. As soon as the Da Fu Ship docked, Yang Zhenshan heard bursts of noise.

Walking out from the ship’s deck, Yang Zhenshan looked at the scene at the port and immediately showed a faint smile.

Outside the port, there were many shirtless men carrying goods; thousands of men moved various cargoes in and out of the warehouses like ants.

Circular and rectangular warehouses were connected in clusters, covering an area of more than ten acres.

On the eastern side of the warehouses was a market where many small vendors had set up their stalls, and various foods were already cooking in pots.

Looking further north, there was a three-zhang-wide straight bluestone street, flanked by shops of all sizes, with flags bearing the names of the shops fluttering in the wind.

Behind each shop was a courtyard, neatly arranged into a whole, forming uniformly sized blocks.

When Yang Zhenshan left Star Moon Island, those blocks were just beginning to be constructed, and he did not expect them to have already formed a large expanse now.

As for the original town, it had now completely merged with the port, long losing the boundaries of the city.

”Three years away, and such a big change!” Yu Qingyi couldn’t help but exclaim as she gazed at the port and the street.

Yang Zhenshan nodded slightly, ”There are more and more people on the island!”

The significant changes on Star Moon Island were due to the increasing population on the island and because Star Moon Island had become a supply point for nearby shipping routes.

In fact, Star Moon Island had two ports, one being the Star Moon Island port before them, and the other being the North Ring Island port to the north.

Besides Star Moon Island, the Star Moon Archipelago had four other relatively large islands. After the Yang family occupied the Star Moon Archipelago, they renamed these four islands into East, West, South, and North Ring Islands.

The other three islands were ordinary, with a population of seven to eight thousand on each, but only North Ring Island had been developed into a port.

The reason for developing North Ring Island was its proximity to the north-south and east-west routes, making it a supply point for these two routes.

The port on Star Moon Island was not open to outsiders; it only allowed the Yang family’s merchant company and the Tenglong Guard’s ships to dock. The port on North Ring Island was open to all, allowing any merchant ship to dock.

In terms of port scale, the North Ring Island port was larger, capable of accommodating hundreds of ships and offering rest and supply to four to five thousand crew members.

But in terms of supplies, Star Moon Island was more comprehensive, and there were many high-end supplies like Elixirs, weapons, and medicinal herbs.

The Zhu family had opened a weapon shop on Star Moon Island, selling various weapons.

Star Moon Island also had a vast Medicinal Field, capable of cultivating many herbs and even over a dozen types of Treasure Medicines.

As for Elixirs, Wang Mingzhe was now the Elixir master on Star Moon Island.

So Star Moon Island did have specialties. Although the quantity wasn’t large, they could still bring some prosperity to Star Moon Island.

Yang Zhenshan and Yu Qingyi disembarked, walking along the bluestone street toward their home.

They hadn’t informed anyone of their return, even stopping the shopkeeper on the ship from sending a fast ship ahead to notify them.

Because once someone got wind of his return, countless people would inevitably rush to the port to greet them, disrupting the port’s operations.

After disembarking, many recognized Yang Zhenshan and Yu Qingyi, greeting them with immense joy, clasping their fists in salute, and some even went to report the news.

Before they reached the government building, Yang Mingcheng rushed over hurriedly.

From a distance, Yang Mingcheng shouted loudly, ”Father, Mother!”

”Your son bows to Father and Mother!”

Like a child, this fellow was bowing, snot and tears all over.

Yang Zhenshan was speechless, ”You’re an adult now; can’t you be a bit more composed!”

”Get up quickly; don’t embarrass yourself here!”

So many people were watching, and Yang Mingcheng’s behavior really damaged the dignified image of the Yang family’s eldest.

However, Yang Mingcheng didn’t feel ashamed at all, standing up both crying and laughing, ”Your son just missed Father and Mother!”

Yang Zhenshan was both pleased and amused, not knowing what to say.

”We’ll talk when we get back!”

Come to think of it, they had been away too long this time. In over three years, several more great-grandchildren had been born to Yang Zhenshan.

”Master, Madam!” Qingxia and Red Cloud were overjoyed to see the two return.

”Yes! Very good, still looking so beautiful!”

Yu Qingyi praised as she looked at the two good apprentices.

”Hehe, we’re still young, and Madam is also young!” Red Cloud laughed.

”Father, should we let the children come and pay their respects? They all miss you!” Yang Mingcheng said.

Yang Zhenshan nodded slightly, ”Alright, I haven’t seen them for years; you can have everyone come over!”

As for the grandchildren, Yang Zhenshan knew them, having cared for them. But with the great-grandchildren, he wasn’t sure how many there were, and he couldn’t even name some of them.

Yang Zhenshan had named the older ones, but he found naming too demanding, so he let their fathers and grandfathers come up with names.

Yang Zhenshan and Yu Qingyi first went to the backyard to change into loose clothing, then headed to the main hall in the front yard to wait for their children and grandchildren to pay their respects.
