Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 570: Chapter 494 Flowing Gold Bright Armor

Duan Rui suggested, ”Why not invite Marquis Jianchang out of retirement? Marquis Jianchang has been traveling through the worldly society frequently these years and should have a deep understanding of the Jianghu forces. It would be most appropriate for him to take charge of the Martial Arts Temple!”

Marquis Jianchang, Zhang Luan, is also an Innate Martial Artist. Thirteen years ago, he broke through to the Innate Realm, and once served as Left Governor of the Front Army Commander’s Mansion. He also served as General in Anxi Town in the west, well-versed in military affairs and acquainted with the Jianghu, making him a rather suitable candidate.

”Ugh, I’m just afraid that Marquis Jianchang might not be willing,” Zhou Mao said somewhat helplessly.

He was quite familiar with the personality of Marquis Jianchang. The marquis was a hearty character who loved making friends and traveling around the most. If it had not been for the sake of Marquis Jianchang’s Mansion, he might not have joined the court and become General.

Now, to once again ask him to join the court’s officialdom, it was very likely that he would refuse.

Emperor Yanping asked, ”Does anyone know where Marquis Jianchang currently is?”

”He should be visiting friends in Shunnan Prefecture. He is well-acquainted with Li Zhen, the former Sect Leader of Tiger Sect in Shunnan Prefecture,” Duan Rui said.

Shunnan Prefecture is a prefecture in the southern part of Longnan Province, only eight hundred miles away from the Capital City.

Tiger Sect is one of the Jianghu Sects in Shunnan Prefecture, and its former Sect Leader, Li Zhen, is also an Innate Martial Artist. When Li Zhen was younger, he also joined the military and rose to the rank of Guerrilla General.

Li Zhen and Marquis Jianchang, Guo Ying, met in the military, and the two have a bond of comradeship.

”I’ll send someone to inquire first. If Marquis Jianchang is willing, then he can take charge of the Martial Order. If Marquis Jianchang is unwilling...”

Emperor Yanping thought for a while and said: ”Then we will have to choose someone else!”

No one had any objections, and the matter was temporarily settled.

Subsequently, the attendees confirmed other major official positions one by one.

The two vice ministers of the Martial Arts Temple were respectively taken by the Noble Martial Arts Masters, Viscount Warrior Ancestor Tianxiang and Viscount Gao Qiao Bing. Ancestor Tianxiang had Half-step Innate cultivation, and Qiao Bing had Postnatal Ninth Layer cultivation.

The remaining thirteen Commanders of the Martial Arts Temple were selected from the military among the Martial Arts Masters.

The small morning court meeting lasted nearly two hours before ending. When Yang Zhenshan walked out of the Imperial City, it was already past Noon.

When he returned to the residence, Qingyi Yu was not at home; she had gone to Marquis Haichang’s Mansion together with Yang Mingcheng and Ms. Wang.

Yang Chengmao’s wedding date had already been set, for the eighth day of the seventh month, with both families now discussing the details of the wedding ceremony.

Originally, Marquis Haichang, Xue Chang’an, wanted to set the wedding date for early June, because Yang Chengmao had taken a powerful master, and he was eager to complete the wedding as soon as possible, as he feared his future grandson-in-law might be snatched away by others.

Now, Yang Chengmao was definitely a hot commodity, born in Marquis Jing’an Mansion, with a grandfather in the Innate Realm, and a master in the Innate Realm, plus his father Yang Mingzhi being Assistant General in Chongshan Town.

With such a background, he was even more sought-after than the offspring of nobles with hereditary titles.

Unfortunately, Yang Chengmao had already got an arranged marriage, and a group of noble ladies could only enviously covet the good fortune of Marquis Haichang’s Mansion.

However, while these noble ladies gave up on Yang Chengmao, they turned their attention to the other children of the Yang family.

Nowadays, Marquis Jing’an Mansion was thriving. Previously, due to Emperor Yanping’s cold treatment of Yang Zhenshan, everyone was not keen on forming marital ties with Marquis Jing’an Mansion. However, lately, Yang Zhenshan not only demonstrated Innate Cultivation but was also repeatedly summoned by Emperor Yanping for discussions.

Although Yang Zhenshan still held an honorary position for now, everyone understood that Marquis Jing’an Mansion had not lost the emperor’s favor.

So, during this period, many nobles intended to form marital ties with Marquis Jing’an Mansion, and the threshold of the mansion was nearly worn down by matchmakers.

The Yang family had many children of marriageable age, such as Yang Wanqing, Yang Chengxian, and Jiang Ning, who were all of age to discuss marriage matters.

However, the one who should have been discussed for marriage was not them, but the young lad Wang Mingzhe.

Wang Mingzhe was the same age as Yang Wanqing, and Yang Zhenshan had already agreed that Yang Wanqing could decide her own marital matters, but Wang Mingzhe’s marriage would concern his master and mistress.

Wang Mingzhe had just turned fifteen this year and became a Martial Artist half a month ago.

With that, Wang Mingzhe’s marriage should also be put on the agenda.

At dinner, Yang Zhenshan said to Qingyi Yu, ”Chengmao’s wedding is set. Next, you should start worrying about Mingzhe’s marriage!”

”Mhm, I know. I even mentioned it to Yun Qiao in a letter before!” Qingyi Yu replied with a smile.

”What does Yun Qiao think?” Yang Zhenshan inquired.

Qingyi Yu shook her head slightly, ”No strong opinions. You know Mingzhe’s character. She just wants to find a wife who can take care of him for Mingzhe!”

Speaking of Wang Mingzhe’s character gave Yang Zhenshan a bit of a headache.

This chubby kid was incredibly lazy, but if you said he was negligent, his practice never lagged. Becoming a Martial Artist at the age of fifteen, he was in no way inferior to Chengye and Chengmao, and he had even overtaken Yang Wanqing.

Wang Mingzhe and Yang Wanqing were the same age, with only a few days difference in their birthdays. Yet, now Wang Mingzhe had already become a Martial Artist, while Yang Wanqing had not.

This showed that the kid hadn’t been lazy.

He probably just enjoyed sleeping and had no interest in anything else, aside from sleeping.

Yang Zhenshan pondered for a moment, ”Then see if you can find a more genteel girl.”

”Understood!” Qingyi Yu nodded.

While eating, Yang Zhenshan spoke again, ”Tell Yunxue tomorrow that once the Martial Arts Pavilion is built, let’s have Jiang He serve as the Chief Clerk there!”

The Chief Clerk of the Martial Arts Pavilion, a Secondary Seventh Rank official, was in charge of managing documents and was essentially the administrative secretary of Yang Zhenshan, the Martial Arts Officer.

Although it was just the position of Chief Clerk, it was still an official post. In fact, Jiang He’s cultivation was not low -- he also had the Postnatal Fifth Layer’s cultivation. However, Jiang He had never fought before. Despite practicing martial arts for more than a decade, he had never killed anyone, not even been in a fight.
