Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 562: Chapter 490: Accepting Disciples, Becoming a Master

The two made an agreement, and An Yuxing immediately ordered to have his great-grandson An Chenhui summoned.

Hmm, quite a handsome young man, just looks a bit immature.

”Chenhui, this is Marquis Jing’an, who will be your master from now on!” An Yuxing said.

An Chenhui looked at Yang Zhenshan in a daze, then at An Yuxing, and suddenly knelt on the ground with a thud. However, he knelt not before Yang Zhenshan but before An Yuxing.

”Ancestor, you don’t want me anymore!” An Chenhui’s face showed a look of grievance, his eyes slightly red, almost ready to cry.

”...”

Yang Zhenshan suddenly froze, looking at An Chenhui utterly perplexed.

What’s the meaning of this?

What does it mean that the Ancestor doesn’t want him anymore?

An Yuxing’s face darkened, ”You foolish idiot, when have I ever said I don’t want you?”

An Chenhui took another look at Yang Zhenshan, then timidly whispered, ”But why does Ancestor want to find a master for Chenhui!”

An Yuxing felt powerless; he too couldn’t comprehend what was going on!

When he first brought An Chenhui over, the boy was indeed clever and quick-witted, but over the years, An Chenhui seemed to have changed, becoming timid and foolish, always treading on eggshells.

Although he was angry inside, An Chenhui was still a great-grandson that he valued, so An Yuxing had to patiently explain, ”Marquis Jing’an is skilled in teaching disciples, to have him as your master is your good fortune.”

”And you can still live here in the future, you can come back anytime.”

Upon hearing this, the look of grievance on An Chenhui’s face dissipated quite a bit, ”Really!”

”Really!” An Yuxing, with a dark face, said briskly.

”Haha~~” Yang Zhenshan burst into laughter.

This An Chenhui is rather amusing; at this point, he probably saw An Chenhui’s concerns and apprehensions.

In fact, it’s not really An Chenhui’s fault, blame could only be placed on An Yuxing.

After two encounters, he could feel that An Yuxing was not that easy-going, and if it weren’t for his Hundred Herbs Brew and other liquors, An Yuxing probably wouldn’t pay any attention to him.

Moreover, An Yuxing wasn’t the kind and gentle type of elder, especially since he had always lived in Sanshan Valley, and he hardly had much affection with those descendants of his.

Imagine, a young man who suddenly had to follow a legendary great-ancestor to a strange place, and this great-ancestor also had a very quirky temper. How could the young man not be extremely cautious?

And it’s likely that before An Chenhui came to Sanshan Valley, his family elders had repeatedly instructed him, probably viewing him as the hope of the An family.

With that in mind, one can imagine the pressure An Chenhui was under, which also caused him to be apprehensive in front of An Yuxing.

Over time, his personality changed accordingly, and this also hindered his cultivation.

Thus, in cultivating, mindset is indeed very important.

Martial Artists must not only persevere but also maintain a good state of mind.

”Alright, kid, don’t worry. My residence has no place for you to stay, just come visit me every five days, and still live here on ordinary days!” Yang Zhenshan said with a laugh.

An Chenhui finally put his mind at ease, and with a flushed face and red ears, he said, ”Then, disciple, disciple greets Master!”

”Let’s do the formal discipleship tomorrow, and I will bring him over to pay respects as a disciple, and it’ll also be a chance to see your grandsons!” An Yuxing spoke.

”Good!” Yang Zhenshan said.

After the two had made arrangements, Yang Zhenshan proposed to take his leave.

The very next morning, Yang Zhenshan gathered all the children in his household in the front courtyard.

In the spacious hall, Wang Mingzhe and Yang Mingzhao stood beside Yang Zhenshan,

On the left side in a line were Yang Chengye, Yang Chengmao, Jiang Ning, Yang Chengxian, Yang Chengyou, Yang Chengzhang, and Yang Chengzhen.

On the right side in a line were Yang Wanqing, Yang Wanyi, Yang Wanting, and Jiang Miao.

Wanying and Wan Ning were both in Chongshan Town, while Jiang Feng had gone off with Jiang He and Yang Yunyan to establish their own household.

Here, aside from Yang Zhenshan, the one with the highest seniority naturally was Wang Mingzhe and Yang Mingzhao, Wang Mingzhe although younger than Yang Chengye and Yang Chengmao, was their senior uncle in terms of martial lineage.

Wang Mingzhe certainly wouldn’t become a disciple of An Yuxing. However, since Yang Zhenshan summoned all the children, it wouldn’t have been fair to leave him alone sleeping in at the academy, so he called him over as well.

Around the time of the Si hour, An Yuxing came with An Chenhui.

Yang Zhenshan welcomed the two inside, and when they saw the group of children in the courtyard, both were a bit taken aback.

After the two sides exchanged greetings, Yang Zhenshan then said with a smile, ”Senior An, take a look, whichever one you like, I will let him become your disciple!”

An Yuxing’s gaze swept across the group of children and he nodded slightly.

Those too young, he definitely wouldn’t accept.

What he wanted was a disciple, not a grandson. To teach a child from scratch, he didn’t have the patience.

As for the girls, he wouldn’t take them on either. Not because he favored boys over girls, but because it would be inconvenient to teach girls as they grew older.

In the end, his eyes settled on Yang Chengye, Yang Chengmao, and Jiang Ning.

Jiang Ning was fourteen years old this year, although he was not yet a Martial Artist, from his physique and bone structure he seemed to be a promising talent.

”That young man there!” An Yuxing didn’t hesitate too much and directly pointed at Yang Chengmao.

”Me!” Yang Chengmao was completely astonished.

Those not selected did not feel dejected.

Their own grandfather was an Innate Martial Artist; they didn’t feel particularly strongly about getting another Innate Martial Artist as a master.

”Um, you kid, come over for the discipleship ritual!” An Yuxing said directly, with no pretense.

The reason he chose Yang Chengmao was due to his own considerations. Yang Chengye was the lineal elder grandson of the Yang family, and it was better for Yang Zhenshan to nurture him personally. Jiang Ning was also good, but had not yet become a Martial Artist, so taking him now would have no significance.
