Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 561: Chapter 489: Even if I take on disciples, I won’t accept an old geezer like you! _2

After all, Yang Zhenshan was different from him; he was idle all day while Yang Zhenshan still held a position at the court.

”Younger generation would like to consult the elder on some matters of cultivation!”

”This is the tuition!”

Yang Zhenshan took two jars of Hundred Herbs Brew from Ding Qiu and placed them on the table.

An Yuxing looked at the wine and his face immediately revealed a smile, ”Sounds good, sounds good, as long as there is wine! Anytime you come is fine as long as you bring wine!”

Even though he had previously given him ten jars of Hundred Herbs Brew, as a drunkard, he would hardly complain about having too much wine.

Especially since Hundred Herbs Brew was good wine that he had tasted before, he wished Yang Zhenshan could give him more.

”Ha-ha, then I’ll trouble the elder!” Yang Zhenshan laughed.

There is a saying: the master leads you to the door, but progressing in cultivation is up to the individual.

Despite having read many cultivation insights in the Hidden Skill Pavilion recently, Yang Zhenshan needed a master to guide him further.

Compared to An Yuxing, Yang Zhenshan in the Innate Realm was just a novice apprentice. Many experiences of An Yuxing were greatly beneficial to Yang Zhenshan, could save him many detours.

”Prepare a few dishes, I will have a good chat with Marquis Jing’an!” An Yuxing ordered, then took Yang Zhenshan to the backyard pavilion.

There were no women in his courtyard, so there were less prohibitions.

Of course, that’s not to say he didn’t have a family. He also had children and grandchildren, but those few were not successful, barely managing to hold mediocre official positions. The only one who was somewhat talented, a great-grandson, was staying with him, and was just eighteen this year.

The dishes were served, and indeed, they were modest.

An Yuxing only cared for good wine, not much for gourmet food; the dishes he usually had with wine were quite simple.

Yang Zhenshan naturally wouldn’t complain, accompanying An Yuxing in drinking while consulting him.

An Yuxing was generous with his teaching, passing many of his experiences to Yang Zhenshan. Listening to his explanations, Yang Zhenshan often had moments of sudden realization.

Yang Zhenshan put down his wine cup, stretched out his hand, and his internal True Qi gently surged, a thin strand of True Qi emerging from his palm, growing like a sprouting seed.

”So True Qi can also be used this way?”

The slender True Qi twirled around Yang Zhenshan’s palm like silken threads, exhibiting rich vitality like tender shoots.

An Yuxing watched his True Qi and nodded with satisfaction, ”The so-called commanding of Qi revolves around change, and the so-called subtle entry lies in acting at will.”

”Look!”

As he spoke, he also stretched out his palm, a somewhat dry palm from which a misty water orb emerged.

The water orb alternately took the shape of a wine cup and a wine jug, the colors differed, yet the carved patterns on them were exactly the same.

Then with a gentle wave of his hand, the condensed water orb swiftly shot out, hitting a rock outside the pavilion, piercing through a rock three feet away.

Yang Zhenshan watched the scene with a shocked face.

Piercing through the rock, he could do that too, but he needed the help of the Mystical Iron Spear to do so, just relying on Innate True Qi, he could not achieve it.

This move looked simple, but it actually contained a subtle control of Innate True Qi.

The holes in the rock were only the size of pinholes, and they were even arranged in a pattern.

A wine jug?

Must be thousands of holes!

Instantly firing thousands of strands of True Qi, and controlling the True Qi to such a fine level.

Before Yang Zhenshan’s shock subsided, An Yuxing again stretched out his palm, ”Look again!”

Just now, with a slight twist of his fingers, a rock the size of a fist, three yards away, floated gently into his hand.

”This!”

Yang Zhenshan was dumbfounded.

He had read so many cultivation insights, but none compared to what he saw with his own eyes.

Telekinesis?

This was no longer the realm of martial arts, right?

This must be a spell, right?

”Commanding Qi as thin as silk, if you can achieve this step, it means you are touching the threshold of subtle entry.”

”But now you have not reached the realm of commanding Qi, so you still need to practice!”

”To reach the realm of commanding Qi, there are no shortcuts, only accumulating Innate True Qi and continuous rigorous training,” An Yuxing said.

Yang Zhenshan’s eyes brightened, ”Thank you, elder, for your guidance!”

An Yuxing waved his hand, unconcernedly saying, ”This is nothing, even if you cultivated on your own, you would soon understand this principle!”

Although he said that, Yang Zhengshan couldn’t see it that way.

Indeed, he could understand this reasoning through his own cultivation, but it would take Yang Zhengshan a lot of time and energy.

A casual pointer from An Yuxing could save Yang Zhengshan months or even years of effort.

”Why not let the younger generation take the senior as a master!” Yang Zhengshan looked at An Yuxing with an expectant face.

He truly wanted to become a disciple!

Whimpering, with such a master to guide him, his future cultivation would definitely go more smoothly.

An Yuxing was startled, then somewhat helplessly said with a mix of laughter and tears: ”You’ve already reached the Innate Realm, why do you need a master?”

”But the younger generation is far inferior to the senior, as they say, the accomplished can be teachers,” Yang Zhengshan stated.

An Yuxing was a bit surprised, but he was very pleased internally.

However, he had no intention of taking Yang Zhengshan as a disciple, ”If you wish to seek advice, I won’t refuse, but as for becoming a disciple, let’s forget about it, I wouldn’t take in an old fellow like you even if I were to accept disciples!”

”...”

An old fellow?

Damn, this old ruffian actually called me an old fellow.

Yang Zhengshan nearly spat out a mouthful of old blood.

If it wasn’t for knowing that he couldn’t beat this old ruffian, Yang Zhengshan really wanted to punch him a couple of times to show who the real old fellow was.

Yang Zhengshan’s face reddened, and he glared at An Yuxing while puffing out his beard, only to hear An Yuxing burst into laughter, ”The cultivation technique you practice is vastly different from mine, I can only give you some advice about these minor aspects, but I can’t help with anything else!”

Yang Zhengshan’s path of cultivation was already set and different from his; even if he took Yang Zhengshan as a disciple, it wouldn’t be part of a direct lineage, which wouldn’t be very meaningful.

But at this moment, An Yuxing was indeed considering taking a disciple.

He had never taken a disciple in his life, but now that he was over a hundred years old, despite the lifespan of Innate Martial Artists far exceeding that of ordinary people, he was still considered an elderly person.

”If you were twenty years younger and had not yet formed your Innate True Qi, I would consider taking you as a disciple!” An Yuxing added.

Yang Zhengshan was slightly moved, ”Senior, how about I recommend a disciple to you?”

”Oh? You have a promising candidate?” An Yuxing became interested.

”Indeed, the younger generation has a few grandsons, all of whom are quite talented!” Yang Zhengshan said with a smile.

Thinking I’m old, aren’t my grandsons young though!

”Really?”

”Absolutely true. My eldest grandson, Zhangsun Chengye, became a Martial Artist at fifteen, and now at just eighteen, he has begun Refining Power. If nothing goes wrong, he will definitely reach the Postnatal Realm before he turns twenty!”

”My second grandson, Chengmao, also became a Martial Artist at fifteen and is sixteen this year. He is currently stretching his muscles and toughening his bones. His tendons are robust, his bones are solid, and he has a bit of a fixation with martial arts!”

”As for my other grandsons, although they are younger, their talents are not lacking!”

Yang Zhengshan said proudly.

His grandsons were all nurtured with Spiritual Spring Water, each possessing exceptional talent. He dares not claim that they would all become Martial Arts Masters in the future, but their starting point was definitely much higher than that of ordinary people.

”How many grandsons do you have?” An Xingyu asked curiously.

Yang Zhengshan thought about it, ”Currently, I have six grandsons, five granddaughters, and a few step-grandchildren!”

Having so many children, he was somewhat unable to keep track at the moment.

Moreover, this was not the final count, as a few days ago, Yang Minghao mentioned in a letter home that Mrs. Liang was pregnant again.

An Yuxing was somewhat envious of Yang Zhengshan, seeing his descendants and then looking at his own unworthy ones, he couldn’t help feeling like hitting someone.

”Taking your grandson as a disciple would be fine, but I have one condition!”

”What condition, please tell, senior!” Yang Zhengshan said.

”Take my great-grandson as a disciple!” An Yuxing smiled and said.

He felt that his ability to teach a disciple was lacking; a good kid had been under his tutelage for two years with little progress.

His great-grandson, An Chenhui, was also eighteen this year, the same age as Zhangsun Chengye, and also became a Martial Artist at fifteen, but he had just started stretching his muscles and was a level behind Zhangsun Chengye.

Yang Zhengshan didn’t think twice, immediately agreeing, ”It’s a deal!”

”It’s a deal!”

The two looked at each other and burst into laughter.

Whichever grandson of the Yang family was chosen by An Yuxing, it would be a tremendous fortune, having an Innate Realm grandfather and an Innate Realm master, plus Spiritual Spring Water and various resources to aid, if they couldn’t become Innate Martial Artists in the future, that would indeed be hard to imagine.

As for An Yuxing’s great-grandson, Yang Zhengshan would naturally teach him wholeheartedly, as long as his great-grandson was not hopelessly stubborn, Yang Zhengshan was confident in educating him properly.

Besides, he had just recently taken on two disciples, so taking another one didn’t matter anymore.
