Divine Level Witch Doctor

Zhao Yuan knew that Magical Artifacts, Magic, Talismans, and even Cultivation Techniques improved by the Information Leaf were all better than their original versions. He just had no idea that the Ghost Residence and the Insect Cage would be *this* good.

He first took out a suitably sized piece of Qi-Containing Jade from his Storage Ring Space, along with a cutting machine.

Ever since a crowd gathered to watch him craft the Moonlit Stars Necklace at Cheng Yunlong’s place, Zhao Yuan had had an idea. He went out and purchased a full set of jade-working tools, which he kept in his Storage Ring. This way, he’d have them when he needed them and wouldn’t have to bother Cheng Yunlong again.

This cutting machine was one of the tools he had purchased.

After plugging it in, Zhao Yuan used the machine to slice the Qi-Containing Jade into several pieces of different sizes.

After some polishing, the smaller pieces were fashioned into the shape of Jade Scrolls.

This was the prototype for the Ghost Residence.

The larger pieces required a more complex process. He carefully used his tools to hollow them out, creating shapes that resembled cricket cages.

These would become the Insect Cages.

With the basic shapes complete, the next step was to inscribe the runes that would transform them from ordinary Qi-Containing Jade into true Magical Artifacts!

The process of inscribing the runes was not only complex but also demanded extreme care. The slightest oversight, no matter how minute, would cause the inscription to fail.

Zhao Yuan decided to make the Ghost Residence first.

Zhao Yuan picked up a carving knife and began to meticulously inscribe the Jade Scroll.

The moment he inscribed the first stroke of the rune, Zhao Yuan felt a powerful resistance surge toward him. Having experienced Talisman Creation and Artifact Creation many times, he was used to this sensation. He knew it was the energy contained within the rune itself causing mischief. Only by fighting against this resistance could he complete the rune and forge the Magical Artifact!

With each stroke of his knife, Zhao Yuan proceeded with nervous concentration.

Yet no matter how careful he was, his first attempt at creating a Ghost Residence still ended in failure.

As one of his strokes went awry, the Jade Scroll shattered into fine powder with a dull BANG, scattering everywhere.

Although Zhao Yuan felt it was a pity, he wasn’t discouraged. Failing at Artifact Creation was normal, in his opinion. ’All I need to do is learn from my mistakes, overcome the challenges, and keep trying!’

Zhao Yuan failed two more times, but on his fourth attempt to create the Ghost Residence, he finally succeeded.

As the final stroke of the rune was inscribed, the Jade Scroll suddenly shimmered with an iridescent light, so beautiful it was breathtaking and mesmerizing.

Zeng Rui, who had been squatting nearby watching him perform the Artifact Creation, shot to her feet. She seemed to feel the pull of the Jade Scroll. With a cheer, her Spirit Body rapidly shrank and dove headfirst into the Ghost Residence.

”How does it feel?” Zhao Yuan asked with a cheerful laugh, tapping the Ghost Residence with his finger.

However, Zeng Rui didn’t reply.

”Hm?” Zhao Yuan paused, then it dawned on him. He had been speaking human language; it would be a miracle if Zeng Rui understood. Shaking his head with a wry smile, he switched to the Ghost Language and repeated his question.

”It’s wonderful,” Zeng Rui said, poking her head out of the Ghost Residence. Her head had shrunk to become smaller than the residence itself, making her look as adorable and winsome as Thumbelina from a fairy tale. ”In here, I don’t have to endure any pressure, and there are even wisps of Spiritual Qi nourishing me. The amount of Spiritual Qi is a bit small, but it’s much, much better than nothing.”

It was clear that Zeng Rui was very pleased with the Ghost Residence. Her words also made Zhao Yuan realize something: even a powerful Ghost Soul like her, despite being able to move about freely during the day, still had to endure pressure from the sunlight. ’It seems it’s not that they’re immune to the sun, but that their strength just allows them to resist the damage.’

”In that case, how about you live in this Ghost Residence from now on? Just don’t pop out whenever you feel like it without my permission, alright?” Zhao Yuan suggested, his tone placating.

Zeng Rui furrowed her delicate brows, thought for a moment, and said, ”Alright. But when you’re treating people, I have to come out and watch from the sidelines.”

”Deal. We’ll do it that way,” Zhao Yuan agreed.

The whole reason Zeng Rui was sticking to him was to fulfill her wish of healing the sick and saving lives; of course he wouldn’t turn down such a request.

Besides, he just wasn’t used to Zeng Rui following him around every second, leaving him no personal space. It wasn’t like he had to confine her to the Ghost Residence forever. And with a senior from a Medical Family like Zeng Rui around, treating patients would be like having an expert consultant by his side. ’What’s not to like?’

Zeng Rui pulled her head back and returned to the Ghost Residence.

’Looks like she isn’t interested in my privacy anyway,’ Zhao Yuan thought. ’When nothing’s going on, she’s probably happier staying in the Ghost Residence.’

After setting the Ghost Residence aside, Zhao Yuan began to work on the Insect Cages.

Whether it was due to the experience he gained from the Ghost Residence or the lower difficulty of crafting the Insect Cages, Zhao Yuan only failed once before successfully creating one.

Zhao Yuan put the Insect Cage into his Storage Ring Space, intending to give it to the Fire Spirit Insect when he returned. He also put the remaining unused Jade Scrolls and Small Jade Cages into his Storage Ring Space, saving them in case they came in handy later.

After finishing all this, he glanced at his phone. About an hour had passed. He turned his phone off silent mode and, while waiting for Fang Yi’s call, began browsing the Information Leaf to see what treasures he had managed to plunder from the Ying Family Library.

”Divination Secret Technique, Thirty-Six Ghost Nurturing Techniques, Curse Technique…”

Most of the cultivation-related books from the Ying Family Library were in the Witchcraft and Divination Class, but many of them were still things Zhao Yuan could use.

Suddenly, under the Artifact Creation section, Zhao Yuan discovered a book.

It was another book copied from the Ying Family Library, titled *Hundred Instruments Manual*.

”*Hundred Instruments Manual*? A book on Artifact Creation? This is great!”

Zhao Yuan was overjoyed. The Thunderstruck Wood he’d gotten from his hometown was the best material for offensive Magical Artifacts, but he’d never had a corresponding crafting method, which was why he hadn’t touched it.

’I hope this book has the knowledge I need!’

Zhao Yuan immediately opened the *Hundred Instruments Manual*.

After a quick skim, Zhao Yuan found that the *Hundred Instruments Manual* truly did contain a hundred different Magical Artifacts. However, he couldn’t make many of them due to a lack of materials, while others had lackluster effects.

For example, there were exorcism-type Magical Artifacts that only required Qi-Containing Jade. The problem was, he already had the method for making an Exorcism Talisman from the Information Leaf, which was far more effective than the Magical Artifacts described in this book.

The further he read, the more disappointed Zhao Yuan became.

Still, he persisted, flipping toward the end in hopes of a miracle. And the *Hundred Instruments Manual* did not let him down. In the final few pages, he found an offensive Magical Artifact.

And its description included a particular note: ”The highest-grade material for its creation is Thunderstruck Wood!”

”Hard work really does pay off!”

Looking at the creation method for the Magical Artifact named the Wind and Thunder Whip, Zhao Yuan burst out laughing.
