Divine Level Witch Doctor

Zhao Yuan and his three friends were completely baffled.

They knew the Chinese Medical Exchange Forum was the nation’s top medical conference, but they had no idea how precious its invitations were. Thus, they couldn’t understand why Qiu Haogu, Yang Jingbo, and Director Ma were so shocked and envious upon hearing the news.

It wasn’t just them; the students who had gathered outside the dorm to watch the commotion were also filled with curiosity.

Someone immediately asked, ”Is an invitation from the Chinese Medical Exchange Forum a big deal?”

”Of course it is!”

Director Ma turned to look at the person who had asked, his voice trembling with excitement as he replied, ”For each session, the Chinese Medical Exchange Forum only issues about a dozen invitations. Everyone else, no matter how famous or high-ranking you are, must get a recommendation from an institution, research center, or hospital certified by the Forum. Only after passing a review by its panel of experts can you qualify to attend this grand event of the medical world!”

Yang Jingbo added, ”The Chinese Medical Exchange Forum only sends invitations to people who have made significant contributions to the medical field in the past three years. If your contributions aren’t sufficient, you’ll never get an invitation, no matter how skilled you are! The reason Zhao Yuan received this honor is most likely because of those two exam papers published in the *Chinese Medicine* journal! Oh, right, and also his earlier essay on the *Treasure of Life and Form Theory*.”

Qiu Haogu nodded in agreement and picked up the thread. ”Zhao Yuan’s two exam papers are now treated as essential reading by many famous Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners, who study them daily! It’s no exaggeration to say that those two papers are enough to spur new developments in the two foundational subjects of Basic Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Medical Ancient Texts! You have to understand, these two fields have been studied by countless generations of Medical Family physicians and were already considered more or less set in stone. To be able to foster new development in them is an extremely difficult feat, and thus an immense contribution! As for the essay on the *Treasure of Life and Form Theory*, it sparked a huge debate in the world of Traditional Chinese Medicine! It remains a hot research topic to this day.”

After the three directors’ explanations, the crowd understood the value of an invitation from the Chinese Medical Exchange Forum, the reason Zhao Yuan had received one, and, more importantly, just how incredibly brilliant he was.

Liu Zhu, Wang Rongfeng, and Wu Yan simultaneously puffed out their chests.

As Zhao Yuan’s brothers, they were immensely proud of his success.

But a bit of confusion still lingered in their minds.

Liu Zhu couldn’t help but ask, ”Hey, wait a minute. I think I heard that Zhao Yuan’s invitation is Level A. Are the invitations from the Chinese Medical Exchange Forum graded?”

Yang Jingbo explained, ”Yes, the invitations issued by the Chinese Medical Exchange Forum are divided into three tiers: Level A, B, and C. In most cases, they issue Level C invitations. A Level B invitation, on the other hand, requires someone to have made an enormous contribution and created a significant impact to qualify. For example, Elder Qiu once received a Level B invitation for overseeing the revision of the Medical Ancient Texts textbook, during which he corrected errors from the old edition and added a great deal of new, valuable content. As for a Level A invitation, the conditions are even stricter, and it’s much harder to obtain! In the decades since the Chinese Medical Exchange Forum was founded, only seven Level A invitations have ever been issued! Now, Zhao Yuan is the eighth person to possess one!”

A collective gasp echoed both inside and outside the dorm room, immediately followed by a wave of exclamations and discussion.

”My God, even Elder Qiu only got a Level B invitation? This Chinese Medical Exchange Forum is on another level!”

”Zhao Yuan actually got a Level A invitation? Doesn’t that mean he’s even more impressive than Elder Qiu?”

”Good heavens, only eight people have ever received a Level A invitation, and Zhao Yuan is one of them. That’s insane! He truly is the pride of our West Hua Medical University! The ultimate scholar among scholars. Simply amazing!”

Inside and outside the dorm, all eyes were fixed on Zhao Yuan, as if they were looking at some kind of monster.

Zhao Yuan felt awkward under their stares and spread his hands in a gesture of innocence. ”Could you please not look at me like that? You’re making me blush...”

No one said a word. They simply responded with action—by collectively giving him the middle finger.

The forest of raised middle fingers was a truly magnificent sight!

Liu Zhu sighed and patted Zhao Yuan’s shoulder. ”Third Brother, stop trying to act cute. It really doesn’t suit you. Honestly, it makes me want to puke!”

Zhao Yuan was exasperated. ”You’re just jealous! This is definitely jealousy!”

Wang Rongfeng joked, ”You’re right, we are jealous of you. A Level A invitation! Since the Chinese Medical Exchange Forum was founded, only eight people have ever gotten one! And you, you brat, are one of them! If this were a fantasy novel, you’d be one of the top eight supreme masters on some Heavenly Ranking!”

Zhao Yuan let out a helpless laugh and shook his head. ”It’s not as crazy as you make it sound. Didn’t the three directors just say? The Chinese Medical Exchange Forum doesn’t issue invitations based on fame or medical skill. So, I’m still a long way from being some ’supreme master’!”

Wu Yan stared at him for a long moment before saying, ”Third Brother, why do I feel like you’re not being humble, but actually flexing and showing off?”

Zhao Yuan was taken aback and said plaintively, ”How am I showing off?”

Wu Yan replied, ”No matter how you slice it, there are only eight Level A invitations from the Chinese Medical Exchange Forum in existence. That’s an enormous honor, something even the three directors are green with envy over. But you? You’re acting all calm and nonchalant, like you couldn’t care less. If that isn’t flexing, what is? You’re flexing so hard you could fly, you know!”

Zhao Yuan was speechless and retorted, ”Well, what do you want me to do? Dance around and go wild with joy?”

But to be honest, he really wasn’t that interested in this Chinese Medical Exchange Forum or its Level A invitation.

’My goal is to become a Witch Doctor like Wu Peng! I don’t care about empty fame at all. If it weren’t for the fact that these things can generate Wish Power, I wouldn’t even want to waste my winter break attending this medical conference. Wouldn’t it be better to spend more time with my family and hang out with my friends?’

As they were laughing and talking, Bai Mei, the head of the Acupuncture and Massage Department, came running over, out of breath.

She was a woman in her forties with a graceful and elegant bearing.

The students gathered outside the dorm room hurriedly made way for her. As she entered the room and was about to speak, she heard Qiu Haogu say, ”Xiaobai, you can save your breath. Zhao Yuan doesn’t need a recommendation anymore.”

Bai Mei froze for a second, then asked, ”Which one of you did he agree to?”
