Divine Level Witch Doctor

The ghost, however, had no such concerns. In fact, she was more like an innocent and curious child.

After a brief moment of shyness, she loosened up—or perhaps, accepted her new reality. She began looking around the dorm, curious about everything.

The White Cat, already curled up asleep in its house, sensed the ghost’s presence. It opened its eyes, emerged, and stared at her.

This scene confirmed for Zhao Yuan that the White Cat could see the ghost.

However, the White Cat showed no hostility toward the ghost. Its fur didn’t even bristle. After staring at her for a moment, it turned, ducked back into its house, and, to his surprise, went right back to sleeping soundly.

The ghost, for her part, seemed to want to pet the White Cat, but for some unknown reason, she was also apprehensive. In the end, she didn’t dare. The ghost and the cat, not bothering one another, were coexisting in what could be called harmony.

The White Cat’s reaction took Zhao Yuan completely by surprise. He had expected it to get into a vicious fight with the ghost, not for the two of them to get along so peacefully.

First, the Fearless Pearl and Exorcism Talisman had failed. Now, the White Cat was ignoring the ghost. These anomalies confirmed one thing for Zhao Yuan: this ghost truly meant him no harm. But this led to a new question in his mind. ’Why would such a powerful ghost be afraid of the White Cat? What on earth is that cat?’

For now, these questions were destined to remain unanswered.

The sky gradually brightened, yet the ghost remained in the dorm, completely unafraid of the sunlight. Recalling the Yang Qi within her Spirit Body, Zhao Yuan mulled it over. ’She must have reached a certain level of Cultivation, one that allows Yang to be born from Yin, creating a state of Yin Yang in Harmony. That’s why she doesn’t fear the sun and can move freely even in broad daylight!’

Compared to this ghost, Ying Ji’s Ghost Spirit was far weaker. It could only move about at night. During the day, Ying Ji had to use her Magic to transfer a sliver of Yang Qi into it, forming a protective shield that barely allowed it to withstand the sunlight and move outside.

Liu Zhu, Wang Rongfeng, and Wu Yan woke up one by one.

Zhao Yuan’s eyes went wide as he watched, eager to see if they could perceive the ghost.

As it turned out, his three brothers had no idea there was a stranger in the dorm... Ah, correction, a strange ghost. They went about their morning routine—washing up, joking around—as if it were any other day.

The ghost, on the other hand, was scandalized when they stripped down and started taking cold showers right on the dorm balcony. She hastily covered her eyes with her hands. But Zhao Yuan could see plain as day that the gaps between her fingers were wide, and her pair of bright, expressive eyes were definitely peeking through them.

Zhao Yuan chuckled in spite of himself. ’Well now, turns out she’s a perverted ghost too.’

While Zhao Yuan was relieved that Liu Zhu, Wang Rongfeng, and Wu Yan couldn’t see the ghost, he also grew more confused.

’Why am I the only one who can see her? Am I just special? Or did the ghost pull some trick to make herself visible only to me?’

Unfortunately, the Sheepskin Book held no answers to these questions. Wu Peng’s Information Leaf might have them, but since the relevant knowledge hadn’t been unlocked, he couldn’t access it.

After mulling it over, he concluded his only option was to ask Ying Ji, a veteran of the Witch and Priest School, for help.

It was broad daylight by now, so he figured Ying Ji would be awake. Zhao Yuan pulled out his phone, found her number, and gave her a call.

The call connected almost immediately. ”Zhao Yuan,” came Ying Ji’s voice, ”what’s up? Have you finished translating the Sheepskin Book?”

Zhao Yuan replied, ”I have. It’s all translated. Where are you? I can bring it over. Also, something’s come up, and I need your help with it.”

”You need my help? No problem,” Ying Ji readily agreed, only then asking, ”What is it?”

Zhao Yuan glanced at Liu Zhu, Wang Rongfeng, and Wu Yan. ’Best not to let them know about this,’ he thought, ’it would probably just scare them.’ He lowered his voice. ”It’s complicated and not something I can talk about over the phone. You’ll understand when I get there.”

”So mysterious,” Ying Ji laughed, not thinking much of Zhao Yuan’s request. ”I’m not at the Wood Garden Villa Area today; I’m at my family’s home. Why don’t I just come to you?”

Zhao Yuan’s eyes lit up. ’As I recall, everything Ying Ji knows was passed down through her family. In that case, there must be other Witch Cultivators at her family home! Maybe some with even higher Cultivation than her! If I can get their help, we can definitely get rid of this ghost that’s latched onto me for no reason.’

He quickly replied, ”No, no, I’ll come to you. Just give me your family’s address. I might need to ask your family for help with this.”

Ying Ji was taken aback. Her tone grew serious. ”What kind of trouble are you in, exactly?”

Zhao Yuan glanced at his three roommates, then took his phone and stepped out into the hallway. In a hushed voice, he said, ”Last night, I... I tried using the Summon Ghost Technique...”

As expected of a veteran, Ying Ji immediately grasped the situation. ”Did you summon an Evil Ghost? Or is the ghost you summoned refusing to leave?”

”The latter,” Zhao Yuan replied.

”You just love to make trouble, don’t you...” Ying Ji was left speechless. She shook her head. ”Give me the short version.”

Zhao Yuan glanced around. Seeing that no one was nearby, he lowered his voice and briefly recounted the events of the previous night’s summoning.

After listening, Ying Ji was even more speechless. If Zhao Yuan had clairvoyance, he would surely have seen her facepalming in frustration.

After a bitter laugh, Ying Ji began to lecture him. ”You’re unbelievable. Is summoning a ghost something you can just try on a whim? Don’t you know you have to make thorough preparations every single time, and you need a fellow practitioner to act as a Dharma Protector? But you, oh no, you just had to go off and do it alone, all rash and reckless.”

”Well, I’d never tried it before and... I was curious,” Zhao Yuan said sheepishly.

”Never tried it?” Now it was Ying Ji’s turn to be baffled. ’From our previous encounters, he seemed to have a deep understanding of the Magic of the Witch and Priest School. He even understands the script used by the Ancient Witch Priests for their rituals. How could he have never summoned a ghost before?’

She didn’t press the issue. Instead, she gave Zhao Yuan her family’s address. ”My family is in Yanghua Town. When you get here, just ask for the Ying Family Mansion. All the locals know it. Or you can call me when you arrive in Yanghua Town, and I’ll come get you.”

”Alright,” Zhao Yuan agreed. After hanging up, he told his three roommates he was heading out, then left the dorm.

The ghost continued to follow a few steps behind him, curiously taking in the sights and people they passed.

On his way to the school gate, Zhao Yuan used a ride-hailing app to call a car. He had just reached the gate when the car pulled up. He got in and headed for Yanghua Town.
