Divine Level Witch Doctor

Zhao Yuan smiled and shook his head. ”For the time being, this is the only Storage Ring I have, so I can’t sell it to you.”

Ying Ji said grumpily, ”Then why did you ask if we wanted one? Are you just messing with us?”

The Ying Family Ancestor, however, keenly picked up on a key word in Zhao Yuan’s sentence. ”What do you mean, ’for the time being’? Could it be that you know where to find other Storage Rings and have a way to get them?”

”Ancestor, listen to you. The way you say it makes me sound like I’m some kind of thief,” Zhao Yuan said with a helpless laugh. He stopped beating around the bush and laid it out plainly. ”Here’s the deal. If you want a Storage Ring, I can make one for you. But you’ll have to provide the materials, and the crafting fee won’t be cheap.”

Ying Ji cried out in astonishment, ”You can create Spatial Magical Artifacts? How is that possible! That kind of Artifact Creation skill has been lost for over a thousand years!”

”You’re mistaken. The skill was never lost, you just didn’t know about it.” Zhao Yuan pointed to the Storage Ring on his hand. ”To be honest, I’m the one who made this.”

Ying Ji still found it hard to believe, but the Ying Family Ancestor was convinced. In her eyes, Zhao Yuan was a smart man who wouldn’t joke about something like this.

Suppressing her excitement, the Ying Family Ancestor asked, ”What kind of materials are needed? And how much is the crafting fee?”

”The materials are simple: Qi-Containing Jade. The more, the better, because Artifact Creation has a very high failure rate, especially for Spatial Magical Artifacts.” Zhao Yuan lied without batting an eye.

The Artifact Creation Technique he had learned from Wu Peng’s legacy did have a chance of failure, but it was nowhere near as outrageous as he claimed.

To put it bluntly, Zhao Yuan was using Artifact Creation as an excuse to fleece the Ying Family of a large batch of Qi-Containing Jade. And by doing so, not only would the Ying Family not resent him, they would even be eternally grateful.

”As for the crafting fee...”

Zhao Yuan trailed off, because he didn’t know how much he should charge.

He had previously charged Cheng Yunlong a crafting fee of 100,000 RMB for making an Exorcism Talisman. While creating a Storage Ring was a bit more complex, it wasn’t overly troublesome. Besides, this was an exclusive business, so he could ask for a higher price.

After a moment of consideration, Zhao Yuan decided to start with a high price of one million. If the Ying Family wasn’t willing, they could always negotiate a price acceptable to both sides.

He held up one finger and said, ”One...”

Before he could even finish the word, the impatient Ying Family Ancestor cut him off. ”Ten million, is that right? No problem!”

Huh?!

Zhao Yuan was stunned.

’T-Ten million?’

’Do you have to be so intense? I was only planning to ask for one million!’

’Well, damn. You Ying Family people truly live up to your name as a Witchcraft and Divination Family with a thousand-year legacy. You just multiplied my price by ten. You’re loaded, absolutely stinking rich!’

The Ying Family Ancestor’s offer made Zhao Yuan realize that while cultivation was expensive, Cultivation Families were not short on cash and were more than willing to spend it! ’Looks like I’ll have to extort... no, I mean, do more business with these Cultivation Families in the future.’

Zhao Yuan was about to agree when he saw looks of joy on the faces of the Ying Family Ancestor and Ying Ji, as if they had just gotten the deal of a lifetime.

’Do they actually think a ten-million crafting fee is a bargain? Holy crap, do you have to be so filthy rich?’

An idea flashed through his mind, and Zhao Yuan decided to test the waters.

So he added, ”I was talking about US dollars.”

”Ten million US dollars?” The Ying Family Ancestor was taken aback for a moment, then she frowned.

’Crap, I think I went too high,’ Zhao Yuan thought. Seeing that things were not looking good, he was about to lower the price when he heard the Ying Family Ancestor say, ”The Ying Family doesn’t have that much in USD reserves at the moment. Would it be alright if we convert it to RMB at the current exchange rate and transfer it to you?”

Only then did Zhao Yuan realize that the Ying Family Ancestor had frowned not because she found the price too high, but because she was worried they couldn’t get their hands on ten million US dollars so quickly!

”That’s fine,” Zhao Yuan nodded in agreement.

”Wonderful!”

The Ying Family Ancestor beamed and laughed, clearly delighted.

”Zhao Yuan, thank you so much. You are being far too generous to our Ying Family! Oh, right, give me your bank account number now, and I’ll have someone transfer the money immediately. We’ll also start preparing the Qi-Containing Jade you need. It should all be ready in an hour, by the time you leave the Library.”

Zhao Yuan was a smart man. Hearing this, he immediately understood that in the Ying Family’s eyes, a crafting fee of ten million US dollars was still a fantastic deal!

’Looks like I still lowballed it. Oh well, it’s my own fault for being inexperienced. I’ll just consider this a way of building a good relationship with the Ying Family and learn my lesson for next time.’

On second thought, it really wasn’t a loss for the Ying Family to spend tens of millions on a Storage Ring.

While tens of millions seemed like a huge amount to Zhao Yuan, in the eyes of these Noble Families with thousand-year legacies and investments spanning the globe, it was merely the price of a supercar.

But no matter how good a supercar was, to a Cultivator, it was just a toy. How could it possibly compare to a Magical Artifact like a Storage Ring? Moreover, for a Witch Priest, a Storage Ring would allow them to carry a large number of Casting Tools on their person! In a sense, it would be a direct boost to their combat effectiveness!

So forget tens of millions; the Ying Family would have been willing to pay even more.

After composing himself, Zhao Yuan gave his bank account number to the Ying Family Ancestor, who immediately arranged for a family member to make the transfer.

Before long, an advance payment of ten million arrived in his account.

The Ying Family Ancestor said with a smile, ”Here is an advance payment of ten million. Once you’ve finished the Storage Ring, we’ll immediately pay the remainder.”

Naturally, Zhao Yuan had no objections to this arrangement.

With the matter of the Storage Ring settled, the Ying Family Ancestor and Ying Ji finally turned their attention to the wooden box and porcelain bottle that Zhao Yuan had taken out and placed on the table earlier.

Ying Ji walked over, opened the wooden box first, and was surprised when she saw the Incense Threads inside. ”Huh? Isn’t this Soul-Stabilizing Incense?”

Soul-Stabilizing Incense had been incredibly popular in Rongcheng City recently. The Ying Family had also acquired a few boxes through various channels, and since Ying Ji had used it before, she recognized it at a glance.

She was a smart woman and immediately put two and two together. ”Soul-Stabilizing Incense is your business? And those other things, the Beauty Pills and Vitality Pills, are you behind them too?”

”That’s right,” Zhao Yuan nodded.

”No wonder. I was wondering how three ridiculously effective health products could just pop up out of nowhere. So it was you. That explains everything.” Ying Ji wore an expression that said, ’I knew it.’

In her eyes, Zhao Yuan was a Cultivator from the Elixir School. For someone like him, wasn’t creating a few exceptionally effective medicines as easy as lifting a finger?

However, she soon frowned again. ”I’ve used Soul-Stabilizing Incense before. While it can calm the mind and spirit and improve your condition, that’s all it does. It doesn’t seem to be of much help for cultivation, does it?”

Zhao Yuan chuckled, full of confidence. ”What you used was the ordinary Soul-Stabilizing Incense. What I have here is a special version. The effects of the two are worlds apart and simply can’t be compared!”
