Ghost Catching System

Humanity revived, and many worldviews were overturned. Fierce Ghosts, Demons, and Evil Spirits emerged one after another, unstoppable.

People also felt that the future might very well belong to the Yin-Yang People.

Those who had the ability to awaken were extremely grateful, while those who had not began to join various Taoist sects.

Taoism also claimed that even those who hadn’t awakened could become Yin-Yang People, provided they were nurtured.

This led many parents to send their children to study under Taoism.

Especially the Taoist sects with profound heritage saw an endless stream of new adherents. In this era, Taoism flourished like a myriad of flowers vying for beauty.

As Taoism’s resources grew increasingly rich and its followers more numerous, it began to pick and choose, only admitting those with talent and turning away those without any.

Some said that Taoism was the safe haven of the future.

However, some events soon shocked the world. A deep-sea monster appeared in Europe and America, causing a massive tsunami that submerged an entire city and killed tens of thousands of people.

This deep-sea monster was immense. Experts predicted it to be larger than the Mosasaurus, the Cretaceous apex predator, measuring at least seventy to eighty meters long based on satellite images.

The monster seemed to have a special ability to control seawater and trigger tsunamis.

Some said it was a Mosasaurus; indeed, from the pictures, it closely resembled a dinosaur from the Cretaceous Period, the Mosasaurus.

Beyond that, incidents involving supernatural events were on the rise globally.

The most frequent of these supernatural events involved the Slit-mouthed Woman. She appeared in various places nationwide, as if she had divided like cells, visible in many cities and towns.

The Slit-mouthed Woman often walked alone at night. If someone called out to her, she would lift her head. What initially appeared to be a beautiful woman would then split her mouth to her ear roots, revealing densely packed, terrifying teeth before she devoured the person’s head.

In just one month’s tally, seven thousand people had died at the hands of the Slit-mouthed Woman.

The state directly rated the horror index of the Slit-mouthed Woman as nine stars.

A nine-star horror rating was an official classification. It was also used to aid Yin-Yang People in their responses.

The Sea monster Mosasaurus, the Slit-mouthed Woman, the Ghost Performance Troupe, the Yellow River Corpse Monster... and countless other ghosts and monsters were named and assigned a horror index.

Some regions, such as the Uninhabited Area of Tibet, certain islands abroad, the Yellow River in Huaxia, and the Devil’s Triangle Delta, were also included in the list of horrifying areas.

People gradually came to accept these phenomena, merely hoping that the nation could resolve these horrific supernatural occurrences as soon as possible.

...

Chu Hao finally had a rare moment of leisure and had not seen his good friends for a while. He called everyone for a gathering, and many people arrived at the villa that day.

Luo Yan, Li Yin, Yu Sicheng, Wang Meng, Dong Qi, Liang Qian, and many others were all present.

After everyone gathered for a meal, Chu Hao, curious after seeing reports on the horror index, scanned a QR code and downloaded an app. It listed the most up-to-date and comprehensive global information on ghosts and their horror ratings.

Not just ghosts and regions, but also the levels of Yin-Yang People were set out.

The levels of Yin-Yang People were publicized by the officials using this software, starting at level one, with no cap on the level system.

This is quite interesting, Chu Hao thought. He saw that this software was developed collaboratively by several major countries, lending it credence. Taoism was also involved to help people better understand the situation.

Slit-mouthed Woman: Horror index nine stars.

Ghost Performance Troupe: Horror index eight stars.

Chu Hao also saw the level of the Zombie King, the one he had slaughtered, the one who had triggered the zombie plague.

Zombie King: Horror index nine stars (deceased).

Sea Monster: Horror index fourteen stars.

Countless levels of ghosts and demons were listed. Chu Hao also saw familiar demons, like the Six-tailed Demon Fox.

Seven-Tailed Demon Fox: Horror index eight stars.

Wooden Drought Fiend: Horror Index Eight Stars.

Golden Drought Evil Spirit: Horror Index Eight Stars.

How come both the Golden Drought Evil Spirit and Wooden Drought Fiend are on here too? Chu Hao wondered.

He asked the Golden Drought Evil Spirit what was going on. After looking, the old guy’s face turned red as he humbly said, ”The Seventh District said they wanted to test me, so I showed a few tricks. Actually, I’m not very satisfied with eight stars; my horror index should be nine stars.”

Chu Hao rolled his eyes. ”Look at how proud you are.”

The Golden Drought Evil Spirit laughed foolishly, just like a country bumpkin, but in reality, he was quite cunning.

Chu Hao also saw Toad, with a description and a photo included. Upon seeing it, he almost burst out laughing.

Jeweled Toad Spirit: Horror Index Five Stars.

(A toad carved from jade, looks like a toad, skin is jade... uh... priceless?)

Below the horror index of Toad, there were many comments from netizens.

”This toad is too funny; don’t you think it resembles the Toad Spirit from the ’Calabash Brothers’ cartoon?”

”It really does.”

Upon seeing his horror index and the netizens’ comments, Toad exploded, ”Which bastard gave me this title? I am the Jade Dragon King! What is this five-star horror index? I should be at least ten stars!”

The more Toad looked, the angrier he got, and he threatened to call the software creator to have his horror index re-evaluated.

”What’s with this ’priceless’ crap, this ’Calabash Brothers’ Toad Spirit? Kiddo Chu, in that ’Calabash Brothers’ cartoon, is the Toad Spirit very powerful?”

Toad felt humiliated and wanted to restore his reputation.

Chu Hao said with a chuckle, ”Why don’t you watch it and find out for yourself?”

Toad went to watch ’Calabash Brothers.’ Upon seeing the Toad Spirit was a minor character, often bullied by the Calabash children, he exploded with rage and chomped down on the TV, ruining it.

”My magnificent reputation! I am going to kill that damn author!” Toad roared.

Chu Hao and the others burst into laughter, guessing it was because Toad seldom made public appearances that he was severely underestimated.

Li Yin also arrived, excitedly showing off his phone. ”Haha... I’m a three-star Yin-Yang Person.”

The app also had rankings for Yin-Yang People. Li Yin was ranked among three-star Yin-Yang Persons, although there were quite a few of them.

Qiu Yun’er came up, her little face flushed, and asked, ”Brother Chu Hao, is my name there?”

After searching, Yun’er could not find her name and looked disappointed.

Chu Hao consoled her, ”Yun’er, you haven’t displayed your talents yet. Those Yin-Yang Persons listed here all went to register.”

”Oh.”

Zi Jing also stepped forward, her big, watery eyes full of eagerness, as she asked, ”Is Zi Jing’s name there?”

After searching, Chu Hao found that Zi Jing was indeed on the app. The little girl with a Treasure Gourd on her back, her hair in a ponytail, looked incredibly cute—an eight-star Yin-Yang Person.

The comments below were endless.

”Damn it! I must’ve wasted my entire life! This little girl is an eight-star Yin-Yang Person.”

”That scared me! She couldn’t possibly be the Tianshan Child Grandma, could she?”

Zi Jing pouted, unsatisfied. ”Eight stars isn’t that high.”

Li Yin was nearly in tears. This little youngster was actually a seven-star Yin-Yang Person!

Furthermore, Luo Yan was listed among the Yin-Yang People as well. She smiled faintly. ”Four stars as a Yin-Yang Person isn’t too bad.”

Luo Yan was quite happy. She hadn’t been in the field for long, but her talent was great. In just a short time, she had already reached the rank of a four-star Yin-Yang Person.
