Ghost Catching System

”DING... Host has spent 20,000 Pretentiousness Points to refine Heavy Iron and Black Fish Fin, costing 20,000 points of pretentiousness, leaving 14,000 Pretentiousness Points remaining.”

System notification: ”Please specify the weapon type for the Host’s custom order.”

A knife would be handier, Chu Hao thought, then said, ”Make it a knife.”

”DING... Refinement successful. As this is the Host’s first time using the Artifact Refining feature, a random material from the System’s store will be added to this refinement without charging Pretentiousness Points.”

Chu Hao was overjoyed; he could actually get a lucky draw.

Chu Hao asked, ”System, does it include all the materials in the store?”

System: ”The grade of the materials for this draw will equal the Pretentiousness Points spent on Artifact Refining or possibly exceed it by twice, depending on the Host’s luck.”

Subsequently, a huge list of materials appeared on the System’s interface, too numerous and densely packed to see clearly. A red dot started flashing at extremely high speed, impossible to make out.

System: ”Host may call out to stop and obtain the material from this draw.”

Chu Hao took a deep breath and said, ”Stop.”

”DING... Host has obtained Explosive Star Sand.”

Item: Explosive Star Sand (Artifact Refining Material)

Rarity: ★★★★

Ability: Explosive sand

Chu Hao checked the Pretentiousness Points value of the Explosive Star Sand, and the sight made him grin from ear to ear.

Explosive Star Sand: Purchase requires 35,000 Pretentiousness Points.

Thirty-five thousand Pretentiousness Points! I’ve struck it rich this time, he thought.

Explosive Star Sand was four stars, Heavy Iron four stars, and Black Fish Fin three stars. Who knows what kind of knife they will make when combined, he wondered.

”Refine, quick.”

”DING... Refinement successful. Congratulations, Host, on obtaining the Explosive Shark Knife.”

Upon hearing the System’s congratulations, Chu Hao’s heart surged with excitement. He took out the Explosive Shark Knife, only to have his face turn dark in an instant.

”What the hell is this?”

It was a very large, grey-black knife. Its formidable size was matched by its blade, which measured a full one and a half meters long and had considerable heft—Chu Hao estimated it to weigh at least over two hundred pounds.

The Heavy Iron was supposed to be a thousand pounds; it seems the essence was concentrated, he mused.

The problem was its rather ridiculous design, resembling a pig-slaughtering knife.

That’s right! It had a half-moon blade with a straight body above it, and a handle that a single hand could grip perfectly—it was indeed a pig-slaughtering knife.

Chu Hao stared at the Explosive Shark Knife speechlessly for a long while. This doesn’t match Brother Hao’s cool, stunning, bombastic style at all, he thought, disappointed.

Item: Explosive Shark Knife

Rarity: ★★★★

Ability One: Ghost Demon Banquet—it grows stronger the more ghosts and demons it devours.

Ability Two: Explosive Curse Mark—engraves an explosive curse on any object the blade hits (5,000 Mana Points per strike).

Ability Three: Heavenly Star Burst—a large area-of-effect attack technique (50,000 Mana Points per strike, high-level Foundation Building True Qi strength).

Of the three abilities, the most powerful skill was Heavenly Star Burst.

Honestly, this Explosive Shark Knife weighed about two hundred and sixty pounds, and it felt heavy in Chu Hao’s single hand.

The Ritian Stick weighed thirteen hundred pounds, but since it was in sync with Chu Hao’s will, he didn’t feel its full weight. This knife, however, was a different story altogether.

However, two hundred and sixty pounds was no longer considered too heavy for Chu Hao; it was just right.

Packing up the Explosive Shark Knife, Chu Hao left the place.

...

What happened here was soon exposed.

Chu Hao, due to the great exertion from the battle at Beacon Tower Mountain, had even coughed up blood after leaving. A group of people had gone to assassinate him, but he fiercely took all of them down. Those who survived were left with a lingering fear; indeed, even wounded, Chu Hao was not someone ordinary folk could provoke.

Especially for the Valley Financial Group, Chu Hao left some survivors to relay a message, saying he would personally pay a visit. The mood among the higher-ups was not good. This consortium possessed substantial financial power within Huaxia Country; after the awakening of Yin-Yang People, they had established their own faction. They had grand ambitions to carve out their own domain in the Yin and Yang Realm, but they had run into Chu Hao, this fierce character, making things difficult for them.

The Valley Financial Group had ties to Wo Country. To be more precise, half of the consortium’s shareholder rights were held by individuals from Wo Country.

A skyscraper soaring over a hundred floors served as the headquarters for the Valley Financial Group. It was a landmark building in Huaxia Country, and its facilities on the top floor were so comprehensive they were the stuff of dreams for countless wealthy individuals.

A forty-year-old man in a suit and leather shoes looked grim and said, ”Chu Hao is not easy to deal with.”

”Mr. Guang Chen, could it be that you are afraid?”

Next to Guang Chen, a woman sat in an armchair. She was dressed in a black business suit, slender with astonishing curves, smooth skin, and long hair. Holding a glass of red wine, her red lips were stunning. She spoke the Huaxia language with a distinct accent, as she was from Wo Country.

Guang Chen took a deep breath and said, ”Ms. Huizi, Chu Hao’s strength is unfathomable. I wonder if we should abandon the plan to seize the treasures.”

Shangu Huizi sat up, swirling her glass of red wine. She took a delicate sip and said, ”If Mr. Guang Chen is afraid, I can apply to the board to change the Director for Huaxia’s Valley Financial Group.”

The Chairman of Huaxia Country’s Valley Financial Group, Guang Chen, was startled. He had heard about Shangu Huizi’s influence—with just one word from her, the board would immediately sideline him. He had even heard that Shangu Huizi was the woman of the top leader of the Valley Financial Group. He smiled obsequiously and said, ”That’s not what I mean. Do you, Huizi, have a better way to deal with this person?”

Shangu Huizi indifferently said, ”The True Word Brush, Emperor’s Yellow Seal, and Ghost Sutras are must-haves for our Valley Financial Group. This time, I’ve brought Yin Yang Masters from Wo Country, and I will personally take action.”

Guang Chen was shocked and said, ”If you take action, those three treasures will surely be ours.”

Shangu Huizi said playfully, ”In that case, what use are you to me then?”

Guang Chen broke out in a cold sweat.

Shangu Huizi threw a contract over.

Guang Chen’s heartbeat quickened. He picked it up, and as he read the content, his face turned white. He bowed his head towards Shangu Huizi and said, ”Chairman.”

The contract stipulated that Shangu Huizi would replace him as Chairman for the Huaxia Country operations.

Shangu Huizi waved her hand and said, ”Get those three items, and you’ll still be the Chairman. I won’t stay in Huaxia Country for long.”

Guang Chen was ecstatic and said, ”Thank you, Chairman.”

Shangu Huizi said indifferently, ”Go send out the invitations. I will call for a momentous gathering of Huaxia’s Yin-Yang People; Taoism, the Heretic Path—all are to be invited. Also! Send Chu Hao an invitation too.”

Guang Chen was astonished. What is Shangu Huizi planning? he wondered.

Shangu Huizi looked out over the bustling city of Huaxia and said, ”I will let the entire world know that the earliest and most powerful Yin Yang Masters appeared in my country.”

Guang Chen’s heart skipped a beat.

...

News of Chu Hao dealing with his enemies spread, and it also circulated across the internet. Some people were outraged, while others just watched with amusement. Chu Hao had saved a population of three hundred thousand, and yet he was still being hunted down. This was something people found unacceptable.

Immediately, people voiced their opinions online. They criticized Longhu Mountain for being shameless. After one of their own members provoked Chu Hao and was killed, they were now resorting to assassination attempts, ganging up on Chu Hao while he was alone. It was utterly disgraceful.
