Ghost Catching System

The helicopter arrived at the villa and landed on the lawn, where a figure stood—the Golden Drought Evil Spirit.

Ever since Chu Hao had returned to the city, he had bought a phone for the Golden Drought Evil Spirit, making it easier to find him. The Golden Drought Evil Spirit still looked the same, like an old farmer from the countryside. No one would probably guess he was one of the Ten Ancient Evils, the Drought Fiend.

With utmost respect, the Golden Drought Evil Spirit said, ”My lord.”

”Gather Mu Mu, and let’s set out.”

Mu Mu was, in fact, the Wood Drought Fiend.

At first, everyone was puzzled why Chu Hao would bring an old farmer along, and who this ”Mu Mu” person even was. But when Mu Mu made an appearance, they were all stunned—a giant wooden figure, more than three or four meters tall, its entire body suffused with Evil Qi.

Zhao Gousheng cried out in alarm, ”Drought... Drought Fiend!”

It had been three months since they had last seen the Wood Drought Fiend, and it had grown even taller. Upon seeing Chu Hao, the massive creature knelt on one knee, showing extreme respect. It could sense that while Chu Hao’s aura was as calm as an ordinary person’s, it concealed a terrifying explosive power.

Chu Hao asked, ”Where did that toad and the little girl go?”

The Golden Drought Evil Spirit shook his head. ”I don’t know. They left after my lord began his closed-door cultivation.”

Chu Hao nodded.

The group set out. With ropes, the helicopter lifted the Wood Drought Fiend into the air. At first glance, it was a shocking sight, like something straight out of a movie where a helicopter transports a Transformer.

「Three hours later, they finally reached Ganmu County.」

Chu Hao’s mission was simple: to take down the Zombie King. First, however, he had to find out where it was. Near Ganmu County was the Seventh District’s base camp, bustling with activity.

Zhao Gousheng went over and asked, ”Have you found it?”

A young man turned around and said, ”Satellite detection has identified three locations with the densest Corpse Demon aura. We can be sure that the Zombie King is in one of these locations.”

Zhao Gousheng frowned. ”Send someone to look for it.”

The young man replied bitterly, ”There are too many zombies; we can’t break through.”

Chu Hao said, ”No need. I’ll find it myself.”

Zhao Gousheng saluted. ”Please, I’m counting on you.”

The helicopter reached the skies above Ganmu County. Looking down, Chu Hao felt a chill in his heart. The once bustling streets were blanketed in smoke, utterly chaotic with not a soul in sight. It was broad daylight, and zombies couldn’t stand the light, so they were hiding.

Chu Hao, Li Yin, the Golden Drought Evil Spirit, and the Wood Drought Fiend disembarked from the helicopter, and they could immediately feel the intensely strong Corpse Demon aura around them.

BANG!

From a store on a nearby street came a clatter of noise. Chu Hao walked over and kicked the door open. At a glance, he saw a group of people with disheveled hair, dirty and unkempt, their faces bluish-black, lying in a dim corner. Their eyes were closed, with two sharp fangs protruding from the corners of their mouths. These zombies were resting. Zombies have little energy in daylight and only become aggressive enough to attack people at night.

Li Yin hid behind Chu Hao and swallowed. ”Why are all these zombies asleep?”

Chu Hao answered, ”During the day, zombies lack strength. If you see a zombie active in broad daylight, it must be a high-level zombie.”

The Golden Drought Evil Spirit then said, ”My lord, the zombie poison in these people’s bodies is not deep. I can absorb their Corpse Demon aura and turn them back into humans.”

Zombies, as beings of Corpse Demon energy, are transformed from resentment. Drought Fiends, on the other hand, are naturally formed Corpse Demon monsters. It is difficult to say which is more powerful when comparing the two. However, a Drought Fiend has greater potential for development. Zombies can only become more powerful by continuously killing.

Chu Hao asked, ”System, do you have any items that can turn these zombies back into humans?”

The System responded, ”It is recommended that the Host purchase the Gathering Evil Beads. This will require five thousand Pretentiousness Points.”

As long as they can be turned back into humans, that’s fine, Chu Hao thought. The main thing now is to find and eliminate the Zombie King, and then turn these zombies back into humans.

Chu Hao looked at the Golden Drought Evil Spirit and said, ”No hurry. After eliminating the Zombie King, you can devour as much Evil Qi as you want.”

The Golden Drought Evil Spirit excitedly said, ”Yes!”

DING... The loyalty of the Golden Drought Evil Spirit has increased by ten percent, reaching fifty percent.

Loyalty can be improved gradually.

In the beginning, the Golden Drought Evil Spirit thought that Chu Hao wouldn’t care much about them, but it seems that’s not the case now.

They came to the area with the strongest Corpse Demon aura, which was an underground storehouse for grains. When they opened the storehouse, a group of zombies rushed out. The Golden Drought Evil Spirit was about to destroy them, but Chu Hao said, ”Don’t hurt them. Let’s find the Zombie King first.”

The Golden Drought Evil Spirit nodded and charged into the darkness.

However, the zombies wouldn’t stop their attacks. At that moment! The Wood Drought Fiend let out a furious roar at the group of zombies, causing the entire underground storehouse to resonate. The normally ferocious zombies scattered like mice seeing a cat. Ordinary zombies were no different from common wild beasts. The Wood Drought Fiend’s Corpse Demon aura was dozens of times more terrifying than theirs, so naturally, they dared not charge anymore and ran around like headless flies.

Li Yin’s eyes widened. ”That’s so badass.”

The Chu Hao before him now was almost unrecognizable, Li Yin thought.

Chu Hao said smugly, ”What’s so great about this? Speaking of which, since you’ve activated your Heavenly Eye, have you noticed any special abilities?”

Li Yin nodded. ”I can throw three punches infused with Yang Energy.”

Chu Hao asked doubtfully, ”What is Yang Energy?”

Li Yin explained, ”The officials say that it’s one of the abilities gained after awakening. Yang Qi becomes stronger, turning into Yang Energy, which is the best thing for dealing with ghosts and spirits.”

So, it’s similar to Inner Strength, Chu Hao mused.

In fact, there is a difference between Inner Strength and Yang Energy. Inner Strength leans towards personal power and is developed through dedicated cultivation. Yang Qi, whereas, is something everyone possesses. When it comes to purity and quality, Yang Qi might not necessarily be superior to Inner Strength, but Chu Hao hadn’t experienced it, so he couldn’t make any bold claims.

Chu Hao said, ”Demonstrate it for me.”

Li Yin nodded, closed his eyes to sense the Yang Energy within his body, and then threw a fierce punch. Chu Hao noticed that a faint stream of air emerged from Li Yin’s fist—the corporeal manifestation of the Yang Qi from his body. This was Yang Energy.

Li Yin said, with a cheeky grin, ”Not bad, huh?”

Chu Hao nodded. ”Back then, that punch could have definitely destroyed an Evil Ghost. But now? You’d have to run for your life if you encountered even a regular Ghost.”

Li Yin was rendered speechless. ”These ghosts are evolving too quickly! Will humanity be wiped out?”

Chu Hao shook his head. ”I don’t know either. We can only take it one step at a time. If that day truly comes, worrying about it will be useless. Our only option will be to fight these things with everything we’ve got.”

After thinking for a while, Chu Hao drew a Talisman. This was a charm that enhanced the Yang Qi within the human body, akin to a warding item. With this Talisman, Ghosts and Evil Spirits could not approach ordinary people. Chu Hao placed it on Li Yin and asked, ”How does it feel now?”

Li Yin exclaimed in amazement, ”It feels like my Yang Energy has increased quite a bit!”

Exactly, Chu Hao thought. Yang Energy is the quantified form of Yang Qi.

Practitioners of internal martial arts can enhance their Inner Strength through training, but how is Yang Energy improved?

Chu Hao pondered this. He planned to try using the Beginners Marrow Cleansing Manual on Li Yin to see if it could boost his Yang Qi.

At that moment, the Golden Drought Evil Spirit returned, reporting, ”My lord, I couldn’t find the Zombie King, but I made a peculiar discovery.”
