Ghost Catching System

They arrived at the depths of the underground warehouse. A spacious area on the ground had been marked with numerous runes and laid out with items for a formation: talismans, cinnabar, and copper coins. A rich Evil Qi was seeping from the runes on the ground.

No wonder the zombies in this underground storage didn’t sleep and attacked people as soon as they entered—it was an effect of the dense Evil Qi here.

Chu Hao frowned and said, ”A Gathering Evil Qi Formation.”

Li Yin asked, ”What is this used for?”

Chu Hao explained, ”It’s a formation that accumulates Evil Qi.”

Li Yin asked, ”Is there a problem?”

The Golden Drought Evil Spirit answered, ”Someone is collecting Corpse Evil Qi.”

Upon hearing this, Li Yin’s expression turned to one of startled realization.

Chu Hao’s expression turned unsightly. He said, ”Someone wants to sacrifice three hundred and sixty thousand people to collect Corpse Evil Qi?”

Li Yin felt utterly shocked. Just how malicious must one be to even think of sacrificing so many people?

Chu Hao walked over to where the Corpse Evil Qi was thickest. On the ground were five or six crystal-clear objects, which he bent down and picked up.

”DING... Corpse Evil Pearls. One pearl is exchangeable for one thousand Pretentiousness Points.”

Indeed, someone was using the zombies to collect Corpse Evil Pearls.

To do such a thing, one must have lost all basic human morality. These were the lives of three hundred and sixty thousand people—each a living being. Could a human even commit such an act?

Li Yin’s eyes widened as he exclaimed, ”Who could be so twisted?”

Chu Hao stored the Corpse Evil Pearls. With a stomp of his foot, he released five hair-like strands of True Qi, directly destroying the Gathering Evil Qi Formation.

Chu Hao’s expression turned icy cold as he declared, ”Damn it, I’d really like to see who has such audacity.”

In a building in Ganmu County, three people wearing masks, with only their eyes showing, were making a Gathering Evil Qi Formation.

Not far away, a man in a leather jacket stood atop a tall building. His gaze upon Ganmu County showed no ripple of emotion.

At that moment, someone said, ”Worship You Ancestors, the formation is complete.”

The man known as Worship You Ancestors spoke slowly, ”Tell the Zombie King we will take it to another city. There are no people left here.”

”Yes.”

Approaching the Gathering Evil Qi Formation, Worship You Ancestors suddenly bellowed in anger, ”Someone has destroyed the formation!”

An underling asked, ”Could it be that we’ve been discovered?”

Worship You Ancestors coldly commanded, ”Find that person for me! Whoever blocks the path of the Ghost Worship Clan, kill without mercy!”

This group were the Ghost Offering Clan, who had emerged from King Chu’s Tomb and disappeared long ago. The man in the leather jacket was their Ghost Sacrificer.

The Ghost Offering Clan had been hiding in the shadows ever since emerging from King Chu’s Tomb. Now that the human world was reviving, they saw it as a hopeful sign for their clan’s rise.

The Ghost Offering Clan had also participated in planning this zombie city conspiracy, ready to sacrifice any number of people for their resurgence.

Just then, a member of the Ghost Offering Clan ran up the building, shouting, ”Worship You Ancestors, there’s trouble! The Descendants of King Chu have arrived! This is a message from the Dark Hand!”

The Ghost Sacrificer’s face darkened, his eyes filled with hatred. He declared, ”Descendants of King Chu, you intend to ruin my plans!”

That member of the Ghost Offering Clan said, ”It’s said Chu Hao has arrived, and the others want to evacuate. Worship You Ancestors, should we retreat as well?”

The ”others” this Ghost Offering Clan member mentioned were a group of maniacal individuals from the Heretic Path, also part of the plan, merely to collect Corpse Evil Pearls.

The Ghost Sacrificer decreed, ”Tell them this is an opportunity. Chu Hao carries the True Word Brush, the Emperor’s Yellow Seal, and the Ghost Sutras. Securing any one of these items would be enough for us to dominate in these turbulent times.”

The Ghost Offering Clan member nodded, pulled out his mobile phone, and began messaging other forces.

Responses came quickly. Many wanted to take the risk, while others chose to evacuate.

The Ghost Offering Clan member looked up and said, ”Worship You Ancestors, the Dark Hand says he wants the Ghost Sutras.”

The Ghost Sacrificer nodded. ”The Dark Hand is very powerful. Give the Ghost Sutras to him, but make sure he puts in the effort.”

”Understood,” the member replied.

Chu Hao was unaware that the Ghost Offering Clan had already allied with many others.

At this time, he had found and destroyed quite a few more Gathering Evil Qi Formations, but his mood was foul. Those people would stop at nothing for their own benefit, treating human lives as worthless as weeds.

The sky gradually darkened, and the zombies in Ganmu County began to stir restlessly. With a Drought Fiend present, common zombies could only make a detour and go around it.

In a public square, Chu Hao found another Gathering Evil Qi Formation.

Suddenly, a series of low growls emanated from the darkness, like wild beasts howling. In the pitch-black night, pairs of glowing red eyes appeared, eerily abnormal.

Li Yin shivered, terrified beyond measure.

From the streets, parks, and various residential buildings, zombies emerged one after another in great numbers, so densely packed they stretched to the horizon.

This was the most frightening time in Ganmu County. All the zombies would awaken, and normally, no one dared to be out at this hour.

System prompt: ”SS-grade mission assigned: Rescue the two hundred thousand inhabitants of Ganmu County and eliminate the Zombie King.”

System prompt: ”Upon mission completion, reward: Eight million Experience Points.”

System prompt: ”Upon mission completion, reward: Two hundred thousand Merit Points.”

System prompt: ”Upon mission completion, reward: One Green Diamond Treasure Chest.”

For this mission, the Experience Points weren’t exceptionally high, but the Merit Points reached two hundred thousand.

These zombies would appear as soon as they sniffed the scent of humans. Their numbers were simply too great; the entire square was densely packed with them.

Chu Hao also felt alarmed. He wasn’t afraid of the zombies themselves but was astonished. Is this still the world I know?

”ROAR!”

In a corner of the square, Chu Hao saw a zombie clad in ancient robes. It was brimming with a terrifying Evil Qi that influenced the surrounding zombies, making them even more ferocious.

The Zombie King had finally appeared.

This Zombie King was not from modern times; it was an ancient zombie dressed in a purple robe with an official’s hat, possessing sharp fangs and a pair of blood-red eyes that looked especially bloodthirsty in the darkness.

Li Yin’s entire body trembled as he stammered in horror, ”Th-the Zombie King!”

The Zombie King’s classic appearance made it obvious it was the leader, strikingly conspicuous.

The Zombie King has finally emerged, saving me the trouble of having to scour for it.

At that moment, on the periphery of the zombie swarm, a group of figures in black robes appeared. Their eyes were coldly fixed on Chu Hao, each radiating a sharp, murderous intent.

Seeing these people, Chu Hao finally snapped, ”You’re the ones who harmed three hundred and sixty thousand people, aren’t you?”

The leader of the black-robed figures, his eyes cold and murderous, declared, ”Chu Hao, you actually dared to come here. But so what if you know the truth? You’re dead meat.”

They actually know me?

Chu Hao furrowed his brow and asked, ”Who are you?”

The figure responded coldly, ”Does it matter? I will refine you into a Corpse Demon, turn you into a puppet, and imprison your soul. I’ll make you wish you were dead but unable to die, to suffer for eternity without hope of reincarnation! HA HA HA...”

So venomous. What deep hatred does this person have for me?

Chu Hao took a step forward. ”I’ve seen too many scumbags like you, all with the same delusional confidence. Where on earth do you get it from?”

The figure coldly ordered, ”Zombie King, attack!”

The anciently-dressed Zombie King let out a roar, and the surrounding zombies swarmed towards Chu Hao like a tidal wave.
