Ghost Catching System

”Who hired you?” Chu Hao furrowed his brow.

Jiba stroked his chin and said, ”He also has the surname Chu, quite old.”

Surname Chu.

There was only one possibility. The person who hired Louis Jiba was from the Chu Family, which once belonged to the Nine Gates of Huaxia.

The Chu Family still had members alive, and they had never shown themselves!

Su Muyue was also surprised and said, ”Those foreigners who bombed the Ancient Tomb on the outskirts previously, they’re not with you?”

Jiba shook his head and said, ”Of course not. Only Bis and I were hired. I have no idea about the origins of the others.”

The members of the Chu Family hadn’t perished. Why had they remained hidden all this time?

No wonder Jiba followed him; so that’s what was going on.

What were the People of the Chu Family trying to do? Could they also be in the Ancient Tomb? And what was their purpose?

After half a day, they finally approached the Underground Palace. The architecture from the Chu Kingdom era was magnificent, with many stone sculptures visible.

All the past kings of Chu had spent so much time constructing such a grand Underground Palace Tomb, only for it to be occupied by the Ghost Offering Clan.

The palace square was paved with stone slabs and featured many terracotta warriors, majestic in stature with an ironclad resolve, showcasing the power of the ancient Chu Kingdom.

Standing outside the palace was a figure dressed in black armor, resembling an ancient General. It had a stern face and held a Bronze Heavy Sword, with numerous dead bodies at its feet.

Who was this person from ancient times?

BANG.

In the darkness, someone fired a gun to intercept the General. The bullet hit it in the forehead. The General stepped back but did not fall. Through the bullet hole in its head, a flame could be seen flickering inside.

Jiba exclaimed in shock, ”What... what is he? A deity?”

A great shock, indeed. Probably only a deity could achieve such a feat.

Chu Hao took out the Ghost-catching Gourd, let out the Old Ghost, and asked, ”Who is he?”

The Old Ghost, seeing the Black-armored General, said excitedly, ”That is the General Guardian of the Sacrifice Master.”

The Ghost Offering Clan had already occupied the Underground Palace. The Ghost Sacrifier of the clan understood intricate Mystical Arts and had created the Black-armored General. Its purpose was to guard outside the palace and prevent intruders from entering.

The Black-armored General pointed its heavy sword in the direction the bullet came from and roared, ”Kill!!”

From inside the Underground Palace, about a hundred ”people” emerged. They all moved on their hands and feet, climbing like Spider-Men.

Underground People?

The Purple Thorn Demon Flower bred Underground People. Had they reached an understanding with the Ghost Offering Clan of the Underground Palace?

At the General Guardian’s command, the Underground People charged out. Their speed was extremely fast, like agile monkeys. They instantly disappeared into the darkness, their speed undiminished even on steep rocks.

Soon, screams resounded in the darkness.

The invaders panicked; gunfire and screams were relentless.

An Underground Person suddenly appeared, letting out a bestial roar and lunging at Su Muyue.

”BANG!”

Jiba raised his hand and fired a shot, hitting the Underground Person’s chest. The creature instantly died.

Another Underground Person appeared, pouncing from the side towards Jiba, startling him.

Chu Hao formed a sword with two fingers and stabbed into the brow of the Underground Person. Terrifying Inner Strength erupted, and the Underground Person fell to the ground twitching, soon motionless.

”Ding... Killing a Corpse Ghost awards 1,000 Experience Points.”

The Underground People bred from corpses were a type of Corpse Ghost, their minds possessed by other spirits, similar to Evil Spirits and other filthy things.

In the darkness, the sound of fierce fighting continued as Corpse Ghosts and intruders clashed.

At that moment, the invaders were no longer composed. Someone shouted, ”Everyone! Let’s fight our way in!”

Many were reluctant, but under the circumstances, they had no other choice, having witnessed the ferocity of the Underground People firsthand.

Moreover, it was said that the only way into the Ancient Tomb had been destroyed by the Ghost Offering Clan, leaving no way back.

To retreat meant death, so they could only move forward.

More and more people took action. If they hesitated now, the intruders would be utterly annihilated. This was their only chance; if they couldn’t enter the Underground Palace as a united front, they would be at risk of being targeted by Corpse Ghosts in the darkness at any time.

Chu Hao then realized that many people had indeed broken into this place along the way, about fifty or sixty of them. They came from various places, including the He Family, the Yan Family, foreign mercenaries, and people from other forces.

Their goal was the same: to obtain King Chu’s Seal. However, they hadn’t expected such a drastic change in the Underground Palace.

”Charge out!”

The talismans of the He Family could instantly annihilate three to five Corpse Ghosts.

People from the Yan Family were exceptionally fierce. They belonged to the line of Demon Slayers and possessed strong abilities. Many among them also had Inner Strength.

The foreign mercenaries were also strong. Among them, a man and a woman were quite odd—they possessed immense strength and were incredibly fast. They did not use guns to kill the Corpse Ghosts but rather tore them apart with their bare hands in a ferocious manner.

The combat was intense. Those who had reached the Underground Palace were no ordinary people. Even though the Corpse Ghosts were agile, it was still difficult for them to take down these individuals.

But the Corpse Ghosts were numerous, continuously appearing from the darkness—who knew how many there were?

The General Guardian also took action; bullets were useless against it. Its Bronze Heavy Sword was terrifying. Basically, anyone who encountered it was cleaved in two and bathed in blood.

”Kill!”

The foreign mercenaries, that man and woman, focused on the General Guardian.

However, they couldn’t even withstand a single punch from the General Guardian. The female mercenary was sent flying by its heavy fist, her chest caved in, and she spat out a large mouthful of blood.

”You vermin dare to break into the Sacred Land? Die!”

A sword strike with the Bronze Heavy Sword sent another foreign mercenary flying over twenty meters. He crashed to the ground, unable to rise.

The crowd despaired. With so many Corpse Ghosts and such a powerful ancient General, how could they fight their way in?

Is everyone going to die here?

As the General Guardian struck, more and more people died under its sword, and everyone panicked.

From the original fifty or sixty people, the number dwindled to about twenty.

It was at that moment that a figure rapidly charged out, wielding a gleaming long knife, slashing towards the General Guardian.

CLANG! The sound of metal colliding was ear-piercing.

Chu Hao’s full-strength blow only caused the General Guardian to step back one step. He was inwardly shocked; this thing was indeed powerful.

He had to take action. A single General Guardian was already this strong, and the Old Ghost had mentioned there was another. If they couldn’t kill this one, they might all die here.

”Die!”

The General Guardian’s sword strike came. Its Bronze Heavy Sword was enormous—five feet long and one foot wide, certainly weighing over a hundred pounds.

Chu Hao used his full strength to resist but couldn’t even block it. He was blown away by the sword strike, his arm numbing from the shock.

Chu Hao couldn’t help but curse, ”Damn it!! This is an AA-grade mission.”

Throughout the journey, whether encountering strange fish or other things, it had all been minor compared to this final challenge, which had such high difficulty.

The others were initially surprised when Chu Hao appeared. His strength was formidable, and they thought he might be able to defeat the General Guardian.

But the next moment, their hearts went cold. The General Guardian was too powerful.

Many cast worried looks. Chu Hao was also helpless. He had truly met his match this time. This thing is like a real-life Galun!

But would I, King Chubi, be afraid of you?
