Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 938: 937 I haven’t agreed yet

Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran returned to the company, where Zixuan was already waiting for him in the office.

Seeing him, Mo Xiuchen’s eyes narrowed sharply as he asked in a deep voice, “Did you find anything?”

Zixuan glanced at Wen Ran and shook his head, “No, I’ve tried many methods, but I can’t find any more information. However, they have already stopped acquiring Haochen’s stocks today.”

“Stopped temporarily?”

Mo Xiuchen walked behind his desk and took a seat before powering up his computer.

Wen Ran also returned to her place, pressed the power button, and looked towards Mo Xiuchen and Zixuan. Mo Xiuchen sat in the genuine leather swivel chair behind the desk, while Zixuan stood in front of it.

After booting up the computer, Mo Xiuchen began browsing while speaking, “Continue the investigation; we must find out the other party’s intentions and true objectives. Also, Ranran, send out a notice for a shareholders’ meeting to be held tomorrow…”

As he said the latter part, Mo Xiuchen looked up at Wen Ran.

His tone softened slightly, not as stern as when he was speaking with Zixuan, but still maintaining an air of royal dignity and authority.

Wen Ran responded, accustomed to Mo Xiuchen’s serious demeanor at work, which contrasted starkly with his completely different private side.

It wasn’t long after MS Group’s acquisition by Haochen that someone began quietly buying up small shares, discreet and secretive. At first, they hadn’t noticed.

It was only a week ago that Mo Xiuchen detected something amiss and had someone investigate the identity of the person behind it. Zixuan had been investigating for several days but had only managed to uncover some basic information.

Going by instinct, Mo Xiuchen felt it wasn’t that simple.

In the afternoon, Wen Ran’s phone rang with a strange number. She frowned slightly, searching her mind for any recollection of the number, when Mo Xiuchen’s concerned voice reached her, “Ranran, who’s calling?”

He had looked up from his documents at the sound of her phone.

Catching sight of her frown, his gaze shimmered as he inquired gently.

“I don’t know.” Wen Ran returned a smile to him and pressed the answer key. “Hello!”

“Miss Wen, this is Li Yaqing, the editor-in-chief of **Weekly. I’m calling you because there’s something I want to confirm with you.”

Li Yaqing?

Wen Ran’s frown deepened, “What is it that you need to confirm with me, Miss Li?”

What could she possibly need to confirm with her?

If it weren’t for this call, Wen Ran might have completely forgotten about Li Yaqing. Now, upon hearing her voice, she instinctively looked towards Mo Xiuchen.

Mo Xiuchen came out from behind his desk, his long legs taking him to her side. He bent slightly, his well-defined hands resting on her shoulders, gently massaging them.

“I heard that a few months ago, Miss Wen made a poisonous vow declaring she would never be with Mo General again in this lifetime, and if Miss Wen were to break that vow, all your loved ones and those you care about would meet a terrible death. May I ask, Miss Wen, is there any truth to this?”

Wen Ran’s complexion changed, retorting instead of answering, “Who told you that?”

The vow wasn’t common knowledge. Initially, very few people were aware of it. How could Li Yaqing know about it? Could it be that Jingteng had told her?

Mo Xiuchen’s eyes suddenly grew cold but he maintained a gentle voice when speaking to Wen Ran, “Ranran, give me the phone.”

Wen Ran hesitated briefly before handing the phone to him.

Taking the phone, Mo Xiuchen asked in a stern voice, “Li Yaqing, who told you this information?”

“Ha, Mo General, you’re interested too? I thought only we in the media cared about such things. Miss Wen actually made such a poisonous oath for Mo General.”

Mo Xiuchen pursed his lips and turned to walk towards the door, saying, “Haven’t you always wanted to do an exclusive interview with me?”

Behind him, Wen Ran heard what Mo Xiuchen had said, and her face turned slightly pale.

Carrying her cell phone, Mo Xiuchen walked to the door, and when he opened it, he looked back and gave her a reassuring glance.

The office door closed, and the sound of Mo Xiuchen’s voice was also cut off from the outside.

Two minutes later, Mo Xiuchen returned, his face had regained its gentle warmth, devoid of the chilly hostility he had when answering the phone earlier.

“Ranran, don’t take Li Yaqing’s words to heart. She just wants to achieve her goal through them,” he said.

Mo Xiuchen’s large palm gently clasped her small hand in the center of his, the corners of his mouth curving into a tender, doting angle, soothing the heart that was affected by Li Yaqing.

Wen Ran shook her head and said softly, “Mo Xiuchen, I’m not upset because of her words. You don’t have to agree to do the interview with her because of this.”

Li Yaqing’s purpose probably wasn’t just the interview; what she coveted was Mo Xiuchen himself.

Of course, Wen Ran didn’t want Mo Xiuchen to have any contact with Li Yaqing. Although she knew he wouldn’t be tempted by any woman, she just didn’t like him interacting with women who had designs on him.

“I haven’t agreed yet,” Mo Xiuchen said as he lifted his hand to remove her hairpin. A head full of black hair cascaded down instantly, and she let out a cry, her next words caught in Mo Xiuchen’s satisfied and charming smile.

“Ranran, you don’t need to put your hair up for work either. I like it when your hair is down,” he continued, his hand tousling her head again, messing up Wen Ran’s smooth hair.

“Stop it…”

Wen Ran frowned, her mouth pouting.

Mo Xiuchen, however, laughed heartily, his deep eyes admiring her tousled hair which, coupled with her chiding expression, unwittingly added an alluring charm that sent a ripple through his heart.

Suddenly leaning forward, he whispered in her ear, “Ranran, you like this give me a certain… feeling.”

“You…”

Wen Ran, understanding the implication in his words, blushed instantly and raised her fists to hit him.

Mo Xiuchen chuckled, catching her fists and pulling her into his embrace, his large hand imprisoning her slender waist, bending down to kiss her tempting lips.

This was the real reason he had Ranran come to the company to keep him company at work, not just to see her anytime, but also to take advantage of certain perks.

When the kiss ended, not only was Wen Ran’s face flushed, but her lips were also even more alluringly rosy. Mo Xiuchen forcibly suppressed the restlessness within him, pulled away from her a bit, and huskily said, “Ranran, shall we go to the resting room and rest for a while?”

“No,” Wen Ran pushed him away and turned to sit down in a chair.

She quietly calmed her irregular heartbeat; that rogue of a man did whatever he wanted at home, but now he was the same even at work.

Mo Xiuchen watched Wen Ran pretending to work, unable to help but crack a smile, calling out to her indulgently, “Ranran!”

Without looking up, Wen Ran shot back, “Hurry back to your spot and work. If you don’t finish, you’ll be doing overtime tonight.”

“Overtime is fine. I’ll give everyone else a holiday. Just the two of us can do overtime,” Mo Xiuchen said with a mischievous smile, playfully imagining such a scenario, which indeed seemed quite nice.

Seeing Wen Ran about to throw the documents on the table at him, he immediately raised his hands in surrender: “Ranran, I’ll go back to work. Don’t throw it.”
