Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 924: 923 for a check-up

Gu Kai, clad in his white lab coat, looked refined and elegantly warm, his handsome features captivating.

As he spoke, he had already stridden over to Wen Ran and Shen Yuting, the warmth in his ink-darkened eyes reflecting a gentle smile, “Come on, let’s go to my office first.”

Wen Ran nodded and returned a radiant smile.

Shen Yuting lowered her gaze and, seeing Gu Kai take Wen Ran by the arm on their way to his office, she followed them. Once inside the office, Gu Kai led Wen Ran straight to the sofa and had her sit down, taking a seat beside her himself.

“Ranran, did you come especially to see me?” Gu Kai asked with a chuckle, his handsome brows arching playfully, a prideful grin on his face, his lab coat unable to conceal the rebellious charm emanating from him.

Wen Ran smiled and glared playfully at him, “Brother, I’m here for a check-up.”

Gu Kai’s tall brow immediately furrowed, and his slender eyes narrowed, concern in his gaze as he looked at Wen Ran: “What’s wrong, are you feeling unwell?”

Shen Yuting also looked at Wen Ran with a face full of curiosity, waiting for her to clear the mystery.

Wen Ran pursed her lips, her smile fading, as she calmly stated, “After returning from abroad that time, I took medicine for a month and then stopped. I want to check my current health status.”

Shen Yuting had a sudden realization, followed immediately by shock.

“Ranran, do you and Mo Xiuchen want to have children?” Gu Kai’s face broke out into a smile once more as he asked happily.

Wen Ran lightly smiled and nodded, “We do have that idea, but I’m not certain if Mo Xiuchen’s health and mine are suited for having children.”

Gu Kai spoke soothingly, “Don’t think too much. Both you and Mo Xiuchen are fine. If you are not at ease, just get another check-up done. It just so happens Yuting is here, let her accompany you later.”

“No problem.”

Seeing Gu Kai’s look, Shen Yuting immediately revealed a gentle smile as well.

Gu Kai, seeing Shen Yuting’s agreement, glanced at the time on his wristwatch before asking, “Ranran, does Mo Xiuchen know you are at the hospital?”

“He doesn’t know, I didn’t tell him.” Wen Ran wasn’t keeping it from Mo Xiuchen, but she was not very confident about her health. She feared that there might still be an issue.

So, taking advantage of his being at work, she came to the hospital for a check-up by herself. If everything was all right, she could then prepare for pregnancy with peace of mind.

However, no sooner had her words fallen than her phone’s ringtone rang out.

And the call was, in fact, from Mo Xiuchen.

Seeing the name flashing on her phone screen, Gu Kai couldn’t help but laugh, “Ranran, I bet Mo Xiuchen already knows you are at the hospital.”

Wen Ran blinked and pressed the answer button, her voice gently spilling from her lips, “Hello, Mo Xiuchen.”

“Ranran, I heard from Qing Feng that you’ve gone to the hospital. Are you feeling unwell?”

Just as Gu Kai had said, Mo Xiuchen indeed already knew she was at the hospital, and not only did he know, he was also very worried.

Wen Ran felt a warm rush in her heart, but her face showed a light chuckle, “Mo Xiuchen, why don’t you ask if I am here to see Zhou Lin and Tiantian?”

“You visited Zhou Lin yesterday and brought her breakfast. This morning, I didn’t hear you mention going to see Zhou Lin. Ranran, are you feeling unwell? I felt something was off with you last night.”

Mo Xiuchen’s voice was undisguised with worry and concern; he had definitely sensed something was amiss with her last night when they were intimate, as if she had something on her mind.

Wen Ran was surprised by Mo Xiuchen’s attention to detail; even such a minute detail had not escaped his notice, when last night, she had only been momentarily distracted, thinking about wanting children.

“Mo Xiuchen, you are overthinking it, I’m fine.”

“Ranran, I hope you tell me everything that’s going on and don’t keep anything from me,” Mo Xiuchen said after a moment of silence on the phone, his voice low and tender when it came again.

“Hmm.”

“I have a meeting in ten minutes, Ranran, I’ll call you again later.” The secretary came in to knock on the door, signaling the end of the call with Mo Xiuchen.

“Ranran, let’s go, I’ll go down with you guys.”

While she was on the phone, Gu Kai also got up, walked to his desk, and made a call to postpone his surgery by half an hour.

“Brother, there’s no need.”

Wen Ran tried to refuse, but Gu Kai pulled her up without further discussion and then said to Shen Yuting, “Yuting, are you free right now? If you are busy, I’ll have someone else accompany Ranran to her check-up.”

Shen Yuting nodded with a smile, “I’m free, don’t worry cousin, I’ll go with Ranran.”

Even though Shen Yuting said she would be with Wen Ran, Gu Kai still followed them all the way downstairs. After all, even if he didn’t accompany them, Shen Yuting wouldn’t dare entertain any untoward thoughts—this was Kangning Hospital, and everyone knew that Wen Ran was the precious daughter of the Gu Family.

Unless someone no longer wished to work at Kangning Hospital, would they try any mischief during the check-up.

An hour went by, and all the check-ups were completed.

Gu Kai was there the entire time, and by the time Wen Ran finished all her check-ups, Gu Yan had also rushed over. Some results came out on the spot, while others would take some time.

After expressing his concern, Gu Yan received a call and quickly left again.

Gu Kai was about to perform surgery himself and reminded Wen Ran to stay there and have lunch with him later, before he went upstairs. This left Shen Yuting and Wen Ran alone.

“Sister Ting, you go on with your work; I’ll go see Tiantian first.”

“Ranran, you needn’t worry too much; your body is in good shape, and so far, the check-up items are all normal. However, since Mo Xiuchen went through surgery just a few months ago, you both don’t have to rush to have a child. It will be better to wait a few more months,” Shen Yuting assured her.

Shen Yuting’s words made Wen Ran’s face slightly change.

She pursed her lips and softly said, “Sister Ting, I understand. Thank you for reminding me.”

It was true that Mo Xiuchen had his surgery not too many months ago, but Wen Ran wasn’t in a hurry to have children immediately; she just wanted to check if she was healthy herself first.

When Wen Ran arrived at the ward, she was surprised by the scene in front of her.

In the room, apart from the caregiver, was another woman who looked like a nanny, as she was taking Tiantian from Zhou Lin’s arms to place her on the bed and change her diaper.

“Ranran, you’re here.”

Zhou Lin straightened her clothes and came forward to greet her.

Wen Ran’s gaze shifted from the nanny and she asked with curiosity, “Who is she?”

“She was brought here by Zixuan, he said to help me with Tiantian. I’ve already said there’s no need, but he insisted, so I had to agree,” Zhou Lin replied.

When Zhou Lin mentioned Mo Zixuan, her eyes would unconsciously light up, and her tone would infiltrate a hint of tenderness—she might not be aware of it herself, but Wen Ran noticed it.

She blinked in amazement and a smile appeared on her face, “It seems that Mo Zixuan is quite good to you.”

Zhou Lin softly explained, “Last night, he brought me a late-night snack and at that time, Tiantian had just woken up. He asked me about it, and I told him that Tiantian wakes up two or three times every night. Unexpectedly, he found Aunt Chen today to come over and help me with Tiantian.”
