Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 900: 899 Every Meeting

Bai Xiaoxiao nodded, “Yes, because Tiantian kept crying.”

Gu Kai had gone straight to the operating table as soon as he returned to the hospital, so he was unaware of what happened afterward.

Having heard Luo Haofeng and Bai Xiaoxiao’s conversation just now, a flicker of unusual emotion passed through Gu Kai’s eyes. He pursed his lips and said, “Since Mo Zixuan is in the ward, then I won’t go.”

“Have you had dinner? Would you like to go grab something to eat?” After Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran returned home, Bai Xiaoxiao had been keeping Zhou Lin company in the ward, Luo Haofeng took a call, and Mo Zixuan went out to buy fast food for Zhou Lin.

Zhou Lin ate a little, but Luo Haofeng had his own ulterior motive. He wanted to invite Bai Xiaoxiao out for a meal later, hoping to spend more time alone with her.

Gu Kai curved his lips into a smile and tactfully refused, “I still have something to discuss with Yuting. You go ahead and eat.”

Because the temperature varied greatly between day and night, Bai Xiaoxiao, dressed in a sleeveless dress, felt a chill hit her the moment she stepped out of the hospital, and she instinctively shrank her body.

“Xiaoxiao, the weather forecast said there will be rain these next few days, and it will start cooling down tonight. Are you cold?”

Luo Haofeng looked at Bai Xiaoxiao with concern. He was only wearing a shirt himself and couldn’t take it off for her. Instead, he instinctively reached out, wanting to draw her into an embrace to warm her.

But as Luo Haofeng extended his arm, Bai Xiaoxiao stepped back, avoiding his attempt to hold her and said softly, “I’m not cold.”

A shadow fell over Luo Haofeng’s eyes, and his lips curled into a bitter smile.

Bai Xiaoxiao didn’t dare to look at him. Instead, she kept her gaze fixed ahead as they walked to the parking lot. Luo Haofeng opened the car door for her, and after she got in, he went around to the driver’s side and got in the car.

With the car door shut, the space inside suddenly felt cramped.

Luo Haofeng didn’t immediately buckle his seatbelt but turned his body towards her, his long and narrow eyes tenderly gazing at Bai Xiaoxiao in the passenger seat. He asked softly, “Xiaoxiao, where would you like to eat?”

“I’m not hungry. You can take me home,” Bai Xiaoxiao replied, her eyes lowered, not meeting his gaze.

If it hadn’t been for Luo Haofeng’s insistence on driving her home, she wouldn’t have gotten into his car. Tonight, when Mo Xiuchen said that Qing Feng and Qing Yang were busy and he had arranged for another driver to take her home, Bai Xiaoxiao thought he meant Little Liu.

How could she have guessed that the ‘driver’ Mo Xiuchen had mentioned was actually Luo Haofeng?

Luo Haofeng pursed his lips slightly, his voice still smooth and pleasant. “Xiaoxiao, even if you’ve eaten on the plane, it’s been several hours. You should eat a little. If you’re not sure what to have, let me decide. I’ll take you to eat something casual before bringing you home.”

Bai Xiaoxiao’s brows knitted slightly as she lifted her gaze to Luo Haofeng. When her eyes met his, brimming with a gentle smile, an inexplicable pain welled up in her heart.

They had clearly broken up, so why was he still caring for her?

Sometimes Bai Xiaoxiao truly wished Luo Haofeng could be like Xiao Yuting earlier—someone she could hate, so at least there would be no lingering affection. She wouldn’t be like now, where every meeting was a heart-wrenching pain.

As their eyes met, a tenderness surged in Luo Haofeng’s gaze as he waited quietly for her to make a decision.

Bai Xiaoxiao couldn’t stand Luo Haofeng looking at her with such tender eyes. It felt as if an invisible hand was cruelly squeezing her heart, and an indescribable ache instantly tightened within her.

After a moment’s hesitation, reason eventually lost to the emotions that should not have continued to entangle her. “Let’s have porridge, just find any porridge place,” she said.

Upon hearing this, Luo Haofeng’s eyes brightened with joy, his face blossoming into a radiant smile, adding a devilishly sexy allure to his already handsome features.

It made Bai Xiaoxiao’s heart skip a beat. She quickly diverted her gaze out the window, quietly steadying her heart that was flustered by his smile.

Luo Haofeng fastened his seatbelt in high spirits, started the car, and hit the road.

Ten minutes later, Luo Haofeng took Bai Xiaoxiao into an elegantly decorated porridge restaurant and asked for a private room.

“Xiaoxiao, what porridge will you have?”

As he took the menu from the waiter, Luo Haofeng smiled at Bai Xiaoxiao, his voice warm and magnetic as it flowed from his thin lips.

Bai Xiaoxiao was about to speak when her phone rang; she pulled out her phone with one hand and randomly pointed to a bowl of porridge on the menu with the other, without really seeing what it was.

When she saw the caller ID, Bai Xiaoxiao pursed her lips.

Seeing that she was taking a call, Luo Haofeng didn’t dare to interrupt and ordered the same porridge as her.

“Hello, Mom.”

As Bai Xiaoxiao pressed the answer button, she glanced at Luo Haofeng as if inadvertently, then lowered her gaze to the water glass in front of her.

From the phone, her mother’s voice came, “Xiaoxiao, it’s so late; why haven’t you come back yet?”

Bai Xiaoxiao frowned slightly and said, “Mom, I’m still at the hospital, I’ll be back in a bit.”

“You’re still at the hospital? But Meng Ke just called and said you had already left the hospital,” Mother Bai’s tone was laced with suspicion, and Bai Xiaoxiao’s expression changed, “Mom, Meng Ke called you to say I wasn’t at the hospital?”

“Yes, Meng Ke just got to the hospital, he wanted to visit your friend; he said your phone wasn’t reachable, maybe the signal was bad,” Mother Bai repeated what Meng Ke had just said on the phone.

At the mention of Meng Ke’s name, a fleeting disturbance passed through the depths of Luo Haofeng’s eyes, and his thin lips tightened slightly.

Though Bai Xiaoxiao was on the phone with her mother, the corner of her eyes kept watch on Luo Haofeng. Seeing him look down with a hint of subtle despondency creeping into his brows, she felt a slight tightening in her heart, “Mom, Meng Ke didn’t call me, I’m dealing with something here, I’ll explain when I come back.”

After speaking, Bai Xiaoxiao hung up the phone abruptly, not caring whether her mother would be angry.

“Meng Ke called my mom to say he went to the hospital. I need to call him to ask about the situation,” Bai Xiaoxiao explained to Luo Haofeng before dialing Meng Ke’s number.

Luo Haofeng’s dimmed eyes suddenly brightened at her explanation, shining like the brightest star in the night sky.

“Xiaoxiao, go ahead,” he said with a warm smile plastered on his handsome face, his tone gentle.

Bai Xiaoxiao returned his smile; the call connected, and after two rings, Meng Ke answered, “Hello, Xiaoxiao.”

“Did you go to Kangning Hospital?”

Bai Xiaoxiao asked straightforwardly.

“Yes, I thought you were still at the hospital, so I planned to come and have a look, but I arrived late and your friend said you had just left. I couldn’t get through to your phone, so I called your home. Xiaoxiao, are you upset that I called your aunt?”

Meng Ke explained gently on the phone, his voice showing no indication of anything amiss.

Bai Xiaoxiao’s brows slightly furrowed. After hearing her mother’s words, a suspicion had flashed through her mind – that Meng Ke might have seen her leaving with Luo Haofeng.

So, that’s why he called her mother.

But now, after hearing his explanation, Bai Xiaoxiao suddenly wasn’t sure whether he called because he saw her with Luo Haofeng or really couldn’t reach her phone.
