Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 852: When did we fall in love?

Bai Xiaoxiao tensed her delicate eyebrows as soon as Meng Ke mentioned he was coming to pick her up. She immediately stopped him, “Don’t come, I’m already in the car.”

“Well, okay, call me when you arrive at the spot,” he said softly after a few seconds of silence on the phone.

Bai Xiaoxiao acknowledged and said goodbye before hanging up.

Standing tall in front of his car in the parking lot, Wen Jin watched Gu Kai and Bai Xiaoxiao approach together. A slight surprise flickered in his eyes, but a smile spread across his handsome face. “Xiaoxiao, how come you’re coming out with Ah Kai?”

“I ran into Xiaoxiao upstairs.”

Gu Kai explained for Bai Xiaoxiao, opened the car door for her to get in, then turned to Wen Jin, “Ah Jin, you go back first. I’ll take Xiaoxiao home; she didn’t drive here.”

...
“Alright!” Wen Jin nodded and got into his car.

Gu Kai took the driver’s seat, saw Bai Xiaoxiao buckling up, and smiled as he too fastened his seatbelt. He started the car, reversed, and took to the road.

In the evening darkness, Gu Kai focused on the road ahead and casually asked, “Xiaoxiao, the person you dined with tonight, was he the same person we saw that day?”

Bai Xiaoxiao blinked and candidly admitted, “His name is Meng Ke, he was my blind date a few days ago, and we are trying to date.”

Upon hearing her straightforward words, Gu Kai felt somewhat awkward. He smiled sheepishly, “Are you really dating? I thought that day you were just mad at Haofeng.”

“Really, I wouldn’t joke about my own happiness just to upset him,” Bai Xiaoxiao replied with a gentle smile, her tone serene and convincing.

Gu Kai felt a pang of sympathy for Luo Haofeng, and turning his head towards Bai Xiaoxiao, he said warmly, “Then that’s good.”

In the country villa, the master bedroom on the second floor, Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran nestled together in a spacious leather sofa. The atmosphere between them was warm and tranquil, from a distance, they looked like a beautiful painting.

The LCD screen was showing a Tom and Jerry cartoon, seemingly too juvenile for their ages, but neither of them was watching it.

The TV appeared to merely provide background music as Mo Xiuchen, with tender eyes, gazed warmly at Wen Ran nestled in his arms. The soft crystal lamp cast a light on her fair and beautiful face, enhancing her already flawless porcelain-like complexion, so stunningly beautiful that it was captivating.

“Ranran, can you tell me how we met, and how we’ve been together, please?”

Mo Xiuchen’s deep eyes twinkled with a gentle smile as he unconsciously played with a strand of Wen Ran’s hair with his hand that was draped over her shoulder.

Their closeness meant that his warm breath lingered around Wen Ran’s nose. Perhaps because it had been a long while since they had been this intimate, since that kiss on the rooftop earlier, her heartbeat hadn’t calmed down.

“Didn’t my brother already tell you?”

Wen Ran looked at Mo Xiuchen in surprise.

Mo Xiuchen chuckled lightly, his eyes shimmering with anticipation. “Ranran, I want to hear from you when we fell in love.”

Actually, he wanted to know when she had fallen in love with him.

Wen Ran’s cheeks flushed slightly, she lowered her eyelids to avoid his profound gaze. She pursed her lips and softly said, “We first met when I was just over five years old and you were eleven, at that time, you were harmed by Xiao Wenqing and ended up in Fu Jingyi’s hands…”

As Mo Xiuchen listened to Wen Ran speak in her gentle voice about how she had saved him when they were children, his heart softened in a way he couldn’t describe. The hand that had been playing with her hair paused, and the strength with which he held her tightened slightly.

The corners of his mouth, however, involuntarily curved up into a smile of happiness.

Although he had heard it from Gu Kai that day, hearing it from Ranran herself was a completely different feeling. Strangely enough, when Gu Kai told the story, his heart felt more sadness and sympathy for Ranran.

Listening to Ranran’s soft, tender voice speaking of those events, layers of warmth and tenderness arose in his heart. He felt that the fate between him and Ranran was destined, which is why, after so many years apart, they met again.

“You initially told me that the first time you saw me, you had a gut feeling that I was very much like the little girl you remembered from back then,” Wen Ran said, her face slightly tilted up, her eyes like water, tenderly gazing at Mo Xiuchen’s softly glowing handsome face.

Mo Xiuchen smiled tenderly, “Ranran, it’s not just from that time, but even after I lost my memory, I felt the same way. Do you remember the last time I told you that the first time I saw you was on the way to the airport?”

“Yeah, I remember.”

Wen Ran nodded lightly, a wave of emotion spreading in her heart.

Mo Xiuchen’s gentle voice became infinitely affectionate as it landed in her ear: “When I saw you then, I had this indescribable feeling, clearly not knowing you, yet feeling compassion.”

It turned out that some people, some connections, are destined, and nobody can separate them, cut them apart.

Just like them, even though Mo Xiuchen had lost his memory and forgotten himself, in his soul, he remembered a girl named Wen Ran. In his dreams, he could still dream of her phone number.

Just based on her voice, he could develop a distinct feeling for her. Yet, facing Cheng Jia for more than two months only brought irritation and disgust.

These, Cheng Jia could never change in a lifetime.

Wen Ran’s heart warmed, and a touch of tenderness bloomed around her eyes as she continued, “Last year, I was in a car accident. My parents died in that accident, and my brother was in a coma protecting me. At that time, the company was deep in debt, Xiao Wenqing and Zhou Lin conspired to ruin me, and that’s when you proposed to marry me.”

“Ranran, I must have fallen for you then,” he said.

Mo Xiuchen deliberately ignored the painful parts and added with a smile.

Wen Ran gave him a reproachful look, “How could you possibly fall for me at first sight? I remember, after we got the certificate that day, you immediately went on a business trip, leaving me alone outside the civil affairs office.”

“Haha, was I that bad?” Gu Kai didn’t know this small detail; hence, he hadn’t told him.

Listening to Wen Ran mention this, Mo Xiuchen didn’t feel guilty at all. Instead, he thought to himself that next time they got married and registered, he would definitely make up for all he owed Ranran.

Wen Ran pouted, displeased, “Of course, do you think I’m lying? Not only did you horribly leave me at the civil affairs office, you also called Zixuan over to spectate.”

A hint of surprise appeared on Mo Xiuchen’s handsome face. He had actually done that? Zixuan had been Ranran’s boyfriend before, he had heard from Zixuan.

“You still dare to laugh?”

Wen Ran frowned, glaring at him discontentedly.

Mo Xiuchen immediately suppressed his laughter, pretending to be serious, “Ranran, you misunderstood. When I called Zixuan then, it certainly wasn’t for him to spectate. I wanted him to give up, to let him know that you were already my wife, so he couldn’t harbor any more delusions.”
