Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 881: I don’t understand anything

Lu Zhiyan left not less than five minutes ago when Mo Zixuan knocked on the door of Mo Xiuchen’s office, saying as he entered:

“I just ran into Lu Zhiyan downstairs. Did you call him here?”

Mo Xiuchen, sitting in the genuine leather swivel chair behind his desk, was working. Hearing Mo Zixuan’s words, he finally looked up, his gaze sweeping over him indifferently, “Yes, I called him.”

Mo Zixuan closed the door and walked toward him, “I just ran into Cheng Jia at the hospital.”

“Did Mo Jingteng contact her?”

Mo Xiuchen removed his hand from the mouse and straightened his body, his gaze sharply focusing on Mo Zixuan.

He had originally planned to deal with Cheng Jia a few days ago, but since Luo Haofeng and those two shareholders involved with Cheng Jia had agreed on the terms, he didn’t want any complications, so he temporarily didn’t touch her.

After all, Cheng Jia had been nursing either a foot injury or a fractured wrist lately. She couldn’t stir up any trouble temporarily, and Mo Xiuchen thought that he would take care of Cheng Jia slowly after the Mo Jingteng matter had settled down.

Unexpectedly, she still had dealings with Mo Jingteng.

It seemed, as long as Mo Jingteng didn’t die, he would continue to cause trouble. He had already had a stroke, yet he was still seeking out Cheng Jia.

“Maybe, but Cheng Jia didn’t look good. It’s such a hot day, and she was wrapped up tightly, even avoiding me when she saw me.”

Mo Zixuan recounted the situation at the time. He had encountered Cheng Jia while riding the elevator. She greeted him, but her expression was panicked.

What puzzled him the most was her dressing as if wrapping a dumpling on such a hot day. Cheng Jia, who always liked to dress up, was actually wearing long clothes and pants, and even a scarf.

Mo Xiuchen’s eyes slightly narrowed upon hearing Mo Zixuan’s words.

“When did you run into Cheng Jia?” His tone was somewhat grave, making Mo Zixuan tense up as well, “I was at the hospital. It’s been an hour since then.”

Mo Xiuchen’s eyes flickered with contemplation, and he immediately pulled out his phone and dialed Qing Feng’s number.

“Young Master Mo.”

After two rings, Qing Feng’s voice came through.

Mo Xiuchen commanded in a deep voice, “Go now to the place where Cheng Jia lives and see if she’s at home. If she’s there, monitor her for the next few days.”

“Right, I’m on my way.” Qing Feng perked up immediately upon receiving the mission, his tone both respectful and serious,

Mo Xiuchen hung up the phone and then asked Mo Zixuan, “How is Mo Jingteng’s condition?”

Mo Zixuan’s lips curled into a sneer, “What kind of condition can he have? The doctor said he can only spend his life in bed, but his temper has grown even worse, exploding in anger at every few words.”

Mo Xiuchen let out a cold laugh, seeing Mo Zixuan’s frustrated expression, his mood suddenly improved, “Did he lash out at you? With his current situation, he shouldn’t be lashing out at you.”

He had already confronted Mo Jingteng. At this time, shouldn’t he be clinging to Mo Zixuan as a lifeline? How dare he still lose his temper at Mo Zixuan.

Mo Zixuan frowned, his tone tinged with annoyance, “In his eyes, I am always useless. Even if he has only one breath left, he would not truly place his hopes on me. Mo Xiuchen, you are the heir he acknowledges for the corporation.”

Just too bad Mo Xiuchen, this heir, simply didn’t care for his company, wasn’t willing to follow his arrangements, nor to be under his control.

Mo Xiuchen scoffed indifferently, “He has no designated heir; in his eyes, we are all just pawns, each serving a different purpose.”

“Yes, we are all pawns, but there’s one thing I’ve never understood.”

Zixuan furrowed his brows in confusion, growing more perplexed.

“What?”

Mo Xiuchen asked casually, picking up his cup to drink water.

Zixuan looked at Mo Xiuchen and said, “At first, I thought the old man didn’t like you because he let you fend for yourself. Even when my mother and Wu Tianyi tried to kill you over and over, he just turned a blind eye, letting you hover on the verge of death.”

Mo Xiuchen felt that the only good thing about having no memory was that when he listened to Zixuan talk about his tragic childhood experiences, he didn’t feel too deeply, as if he were listening to someone else’s story.

As long as it wasn’t related to Wen Ran, he could just be an audience.

So, as he listened to Zixuan now, his face showed little change in expression, with more of an air of indifference in his handsome features.

Zixuan paused, seeing Mo Xiuchen’s indifferent expression, found it quite boring, but having started, he continued, “But later, he not only brought you into the company but also wholeheartedly groomed you. You developed your own forces and took control of the group. Even though he knew you hated him, he still made you the president.”

Mo Xiuchen said nothing, it was unclear whether he had taken in Zixuan’s words. He leaned lazily back into his chair, both hands cradling his cup, his gaze lowered, staring at the liquid in the cup.

“At that time, I again thought that he loved you. Maybe, his previous indifference was just to groom you as his successor, but his actions were truly bizarre. When you clashed with him over Ranran and refused to follow his orders, he brought me into the company, to restrain you.”

“I clashed with him over Ranran?”

Finally, Mo Xiuchen spoke, his question expected by Zixuan.

“You really only care about anything related to Wen Ran.”

Zixuan’s lips curled into a smile, but the smile mixed with complex emotions—mockery, bitterness, and an incomprehension of Mo Xiuchen’s devoted affection.

Mo Xiuchen narrowed his eyes, ignoring his mockery, his gaze sharp and cold.

Whenever he wore this expression, Zixuan felt ill at ease, unable to bear the chilling aura emanating from him. He pursed his lips and said stiffly, “At that time, there was an incident at the Commercial Trade Building. Ranran, as the president’s wife, assured the victims’ families that she would clarify the cause of the incident, but the old man wanted to downplay the situation. Naturally, you sided with Ranran, causing a conflict with him.”

“So, he brought you back to the company to restrain me?”

Mo Xiuchen laughed disdainfully, but indeed, this was typical of Mo Jingteng’s tactics.

It seemed he had always wanted to control him but never managed to do so. Therefore, when he lost his memory, Mo Xiuchen felt it was the best opportunity, hence everything that followed.

Zixuan nodded; Mo Xiuchen was just too shrewd.

“You’ve said so much, what don’t you understand?” Mo Xiuchen put down his cup, leisurely watching Zixuan.

Zixuan chuckled, raising an eyebrow, “Aren’t you always smart? I’ve said so much and you still don’t understand what I mean. Mo Xiuchen, have you become stupid after losing your memory?”

Mo Xiuchen shot him a contemptuous look, “You don’t understand whether Mo Jingteng really has any fatherly affection for me, do you?”
